“Not a service, just a RIP OFF!!!”

Written on: 27/06/2017 by kcChaney221 (1 review written)

Had two unopened boxes of perfume bought duty free on outward journey, which are no longer placed in sealed bags by duty free stores. Did not have any check in baggage on flights hence both taken off me at check point. Cost of return to me would be in excess of 3 times actual cost!!! What a rip off service. Totally unimpressed, I had carried them over in my hand baggage so think there needs to be rethinks within the whole system… Read Full Review

“Airway Robbery ”

Written on: 17/06/2017 by TammyS (1 review written)

I flew from Heathrow to Canada. Had placed all my souvenirs in my carry on due to past experiences of having everything broken. I had missed a small jar of raspberry jam that unfortunately exceeded the 100 ml limitations of dangerous amounts of fluid. How many planes have come down with JAM! Seriously!! So, I obliged, she took it and said I could have it mailed to me once they cleared it. I cannot have it mailed, only overnight expressed which will cost me $150 CND dollars to receive a small $5… Read Full Review

“Scandalous ”

Written on: 05/06/2017

Before going through scanning the security officer looked at my bottle and then out it back and sent it through scanning. On the other side of the scanning she said that there was no label indicating size so I could not take it. She could have said that before she sent it through scanning because then I could have added it to another bottle or given it to family member. Any I could claim via mail and fly 32£ including fee for dangerous good. Perfumes are not dangerous goods. Scandalous… Read Full Review

“Rip Off Merchants”

Written on: 21/04/2017 by Somerville420 (1 review written)

I bought a 400ml bottle of chanel at Raleigh/durham airport.arrived at baggage check of carry ons at terminal5. the covering was intact and it was in a duty free bag not sealed. I had the payment receipt. good enough? no the young lady told me that it would be destroyed but to see her supervisor who gleefully put the perfume into a plastic bag and told us that we would have to pay for the postage which we could reclaim from the airport where the perfume had been bought. included in the postage… Read Full Review

Ina2017's Comment

Written on: 06/05/2017

It just happens to me. I bought in Oslo some cosmetics ans was on my way to Sao Paulo. In Oslo they didnt sealed my bag. Then went out by error from transfer area, took full way out. As I entered again to control I was thinking that if they do not accept it, I can go out and give it as luggage by British Airways. But they didnt let me go back because I was at transfer cue(!!!!). As the consolation they said I can send it by post. Seeing it, I see no chance to have my things back. I am really sad.

You might feel they are useful in the moment when your valuables would otherwise be destroyed, but upon attempting to get your belongings back you will find dead ends at every corner. I believe this is to insure that you eventually give up and pay the absolutely ludicrous price to have the item shipped to you later. I have read many comments about items then arriving late. My suspicions are that the team effort between airport authorities and these swindlers allow a great deal of goods to be… Read Full Review

“Plain thieves in bed with Heathrow authorities ”

Written on: 01/04/2017 by Lucianoc78 (1 review written)

Those #Heathrow & #mailandfly did a similar # on my mom who couldn't understand the f'r nor would they get her an interpreter! It seems like the bastareds go through your stuff and will always find something that may look like a good fit but it wouldn't be even in US where it often originates & where security is the strictest. Then the mofos either help the shamming #mailandfly bottom line by charging exuberant service and shipping fees or after the 42 days, they just pocket it! What a bunch of… Read Full Review

“Heathrow fiasco”

Written on: 02/03/2017 by Howard101 (1 review written)

We bought some items duty free in Abu Dhabi which were in the duty free shop bag with the receipt! When we transmitted through Heathrow to get the Manchester Shuttle some jobsworth in a new uniform ignored a bottle of Dior perfume and a Dior free gift but confiscated a bottle of Dior Body Lotion! At first he said it would have to be destroyed but then said he could help by using this "Mail and Fly" service. The suggested service fees were £6. When I entered the code DHL were the only option… Read Full Review

“Deplorable!”

Written on: 08/11/2016

Two bottles of new body wash were in my carry on. (Unfortunately, we didn't check and it was in there from our shopping and we didn't see it when we added to our carry on.) As the other review indicated, GBP 63.50 plus GBP 11.43 for fuel charges! For two items that cost less than $20! Absolutely outrageous that their only "option" is NEXT DAY AIR! Their printed receipt at security says the "service fee of $9.00" applies! How misleading!!! Mail and Fly is NOT a "service" as they so describe… Read Full Review

“I would rate this with zero stars if that was an option”

Written on: 01/11/2016 by 329McCallum (1 review written)

They want 63.50 GBP for next day shipping plus 11.43 GBP for the processing fee, despite the fact that the info they gave me said it would only cost 6 GBP, to ship a half used bottle of lotion I didn't realize was in my carry-on. They only shipping option is next day and there are not cheaper options available to choose from. This is ridiculous and not at all convenient. If LHR is going to offer an option to ship things home, this service is a complete waste of time, effort, and… Read Full Review

“Mail and Fly - BA Terminal 5 trickery should be avoided”

Written on: 04/08/2016 by Dericka129 (1 review written)

I transferred at Terminal 5 from a BA flight from Dubai to a connection to the USA. I was carrying a supply of contact lenses for my extended trip. I was also carrying in hand luggage two (Dubai) duty free SEALED bottles of perfume. I was intercepted by Security at Terminal 5 who insisted on opening the officially sealed perfumes to test what was in the bottles. Given this EXCUSE, they then wanted to confiscate all my contact lenses since each tiny pod has a few drops of liquid. After some… Read Full Review

Due to flight delay and cancellation at Heathrow I had to come back in thru security having purchased some Jo Malone at Duty Free to be told I couldn't take in liquids I was offered the Mail and Fly option what they didn't tell me was it would be £14.00 for DHL charges no option to use any other courier methods in addition to the fee and VAT it cost me £21.99 for an item I had paid £30.40 for and this was through no fault of mine as BA delayed and cancelled flight - don't use this facility… Read Full Review

“Outrageous ”

Written on: 18/03/2016 by Myrick474 (1 review written)

I passed through baggage screening for BRITISH AIRWAYS (remember not to use them if possible - based on my review) at LHR. I had no liquids greater than 100ml, no lithium batteries and nothing sharp. So nothing I thought to be worried about. My carry on case was opened and a set of bicycle tools, a very very small socket set and small packet of masonry drills which are blunt were taken off me. I said I would like them sent in aircargo as checked luggage with my case but I was prevented from… Read Full Review

“WHAT AN OBSCENE RIP-OFF”

Written on: 26/10/2015

I forgot to put my expensive shampoo and coconut ice cream topping (8 oz bottle for my coconut crazy son) into my checked bag. At security of course, all the alarms sounded bc of my obvious gross negligence. The agent cheerfully told me not to worry, put my shampoo and topping in a plastic bag, and gave me a little "mail and fly" coded sticker. For £6 and a small charge they could mail it to me. How wonderful, I mistakenly thought! As soon as I arrived home I went online to arrange delivery of… Read Full Review

“TOTAL RIP-OFF”

Thi is a total rip-off. Shipping 60 pounds?! Are you kidding me, I ship with Royal Mail to other countries for 9 pounds WITH track & trace with insurance! How dare they to ask 60 pounds. This shouldn't even be legal to rip-off costumers like that. Well, keep my stuff and shove it up in your ass… Read Full Review

“DAYLIGHT ROBBERY I'd say!”

Written on: 05/09/2015 by DotDotCam (1 review written)

First time (and LAST) I've ever thought to use this totally rip-off 'service' as din't know of its existence. Like all previous legitimate complaints, my litre bottle of Cointreau had a timed, French receipt in its World Duty Free bag but was stolen - only word for it! - as I'm told it was 'wrongly bagged'????? what that mean? I showed Boarding Passes to 2 different handlers confirming I was just off a French flight but NO....NOT GOOD ENOUGH. IS THIS JUST THEIR EARLY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AT… Read Full Review

“Total rip off. How is this legal?”

Written on: 23/07/2015 by andstillrickyvilla (1 review written)

I bought two small bottles of maple syrup in Boston departures which they didn't bag, their mistake. When I arrived in Heathrow they were pulled by security for the 'liquid' reason and taken from me. The nice lady in security said all I could do was 'mailandfly' and I thought 'well if it costs me another tenner, I'll have learned my lesson'. Cost of maple syrup $30 Cost to retrieve them with mailandfly ~£40 What a joke I hope they choke on them… Read Full Review
