Mail & Fly - BA Terminal 5 trickery should be avoided

I transferred at Terminal 5 from a BA flight from Dubai to a connection to the USA. I was carrying a supply of contact lenses for my extended trip. I was also carrying in hand luggage two (Dubai) duty free SEALED bottles of perfume. I was intercepted by Security at Terminal 5 who insisted on opening the officially sealed perfumes to test what was in the bottles. Given this EXCUSE, they then wanted to confiscate all my contact lenses since each tiny pod has a few drops of liquid. After some debate they finally agreed to confiscate abut half of my contact lenses. They refused to consider contact lenses as medical supplies WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION. As for may travellers, then came the bite. They would send on my contact lenses for GBP6 and all I needed to do was go online to arrange. How civilised I mistakenly thought. Online informed me that the DHL shipping costs to Dubai for a few ounces of weight of contact lenses (which could be mailed for a few Pounds) would be a total of some GBP90 including a fuel surcharge (whatever that may be). I would not wish to suggest that this is organised theft, nor that the security staff have been encouraged to find excuses to confiscate items (although it may seem that way) - buy the end result is similar to the VAT reclaim system. Someone is getting very rich from these tricks. The answer is simple. I shall not reclaim my irrationally confiscated contact lenses they shall make nothing from me. Secondly, I shall never again travel BA nor shall I connect through Heathrow. Congratulations Heathrow, you've gone too far with your customer culture.
