“Not fit to hold a Royal Warrant - Account1733006”

Written on: 03/06/2016 by stevewd7 (1 review written)

Order placed in February and added to in early May, one selection sent out and remainder have been shown as order being processed for two weeks. On ringing customer Couldn't careless I was fobbed of by a lad who's indifference could not be surpassed. I now have thirty plants ready and waiting to be planted on but no sign of the outstanding forty five. One thing is for sure, I shall not use them again. My advice to others is think very carefully before using this company in the future… Read Full Review

“Order placed 24th April. Still waiting 24th May”

Written on: 24/05/2016 by Daramary (1 review written)

I ordered grases, tomato plants and cucamelon plants on 24th April. These were 'due' to be despatched 'after 5th May'. Tomaties arrived and have been planted. I tried to contact Suttons by phone to enquire about the rest of my order, but coukd never get through, and so ended up sending two emails. I had a reply from saying that grasses were 'about to be'despatched ( this was on 16th May) and that cucamelon pants would be despatched this week.( ie week begining 23rd May. Guess what? Today, 24th… Read Full Review

“A complete shambles, please avoid”

Written on: 09/07/2015 by anthonyjoyce (1 review written)

Have order from Sutton Seeds for quite a while with no issue up until now. They have sent only half an order whilst admitting the other half has been in the postal system for over a week. I have called customer services 3 times now to try and chase up the order. Today I was told in a very rude manner I am liable for postage and payment of an uncompleted order. I am waiting to speak to the manager to make a formal complaint. Completely unacceptable, rude and in my opinion fraudulent. Please… Read Full Review

“Where are my plants? Suttons clearly have no idea.”

Written on: 27/07/2014 by McMahanpd1971 (1 review written)

We ordered plants at the beginning of the year which were due for delivery in May. Suttons asked us to wait a while as the orders were delayed. By June they had no stock to deliver. We got a refund voucher. No postage was refunded. We went on to place an order using the 3 for 2 perennial offer. We have called suttons on a number of occasions and received various stories of where our plants are. One plant turned up. We paid full price and packaging for it. It would appear that we only get a… Read Full Review

“Undelivered Rudbeckia Cappucino”

Written on: 06/06/2014 by David497 (1 review written)

On 16th January I ordered 40 Value Plugs Rudbeckia Cappucino as in previous years. Theses were due in week 18 end of April and as before were to take centre stage in my two large red orange and yellow flower beds. When these were not forthcoming I phoned and was told they would come in week 19 then week 20 then week 21 then week 22 then week 23 then week 24. Value plugs need to be grown on for several weeks and it is now too late for them to flower in line with other plants in the garden. I… Read Full Review

“Won't be using again ”

Written on: 10/05/2014 by RedFrog (1 review written)

Im so disappointed in Suttons. I ordered stock and sweet pea plug plants. I got no warning either was on it's way but luckily I was here on both days, when they arrived separately....a week apart. The stocks were in bad condition. No padding in the box, nothing to stop them rattling around except a silly plastic packing pillow that was too small and nothing to stop them drying out. The last 2 rows of the tray were completely dead. The 3rd row died a few days later. The sweet peas arrived in… Read Full Review

“vegetable seeds”

Written on: 06/09/2013 by fellpony (2 reviews written)

I bought all my vegetable seeds and plants from Suttons this year and have had a bumper crop of them all. Especially good have been the heat treated onions, the first time I have tried them, I will buy them again next year. The potatoes have also done very well as have the cabbage. The runner beans have been slow to get going, the first few flowers did not set and I began to think I would not get any beans, but after the first few weeks of warmth and sun things improved and I have ended… Read Full Review

“Excellent Packaging of top quality plants!”

Written on: 06/09/2013 by Raest (1 review written)

The packaging of the plants was excellent and this has been consistent with other orders. All in little polythene bags and staked so the soil does not spill out, grouped together sensibly so they don't upset in the parcel. Even the substitute plant was clearly picked with the colour I wanted matched so closely with another of the same species. Clearly labelled with an apology saying what I wanted was not up to their stringent quality controls. I will use Suttons again and again now and not… Read Full Review

“Scented begonia ”

Written on: 04/09/2013

I buy Parisienne begonias from Suttons every year. This year Suttons had an offer for Parisienne , but substitutes were sent out, also for my original order substitutes were sent, I therefore don't understand why they advertised an offer when clearly they did not have enough plugs to satisfy existing orders. Prices for perennials also seem very high, compared to nurseries and garden centres. It has been a difficult year, and I hope their normal standards resume next year… Read Full Review

“Using Suttons from the Franche-Comté”

Written on: 04/09/2013 by alison.monks-plackett (1 review written)

My dad used Suttons Seeds when he created his big veggie garden and flower borders from an exposed field in Taplow in the 1950's. Suttons was conveniently close to the Reading road in those days. On the veggie menu were peas, broad beans, runners, purple sprouting broccoli, onions etc. All the goodies. We grew up with wonderful veg. Time went by (lots) and I have been in the in the Jura area of France for 20 years with harsh winters and late springs. Of course we have local seed suppliers -… Read Full Review

“extremely colourful plants”

Written on: 13/08/2013

I had nearly 100% success with my plug plants this year, the petunias have been exceptional, especially the double ones, the fuchias and geraniums are just taking over for the colour. I have had to identify which plants really don't like my garden, any of the daisy family are a waste of time.I have about 30 large and small tubs as well as baskets and they have all been fantastic. Thankyou… Read Full Review

“Diseased plants knowingly sent out”

Written on: 18/07/2013

I ordered a groupon deal for 3 types of blueberry. The plants arrive within 14 days and were covered in rust fungus. All of the plants were so infected even the stalks were covered in the fungus and looked eaten away. I was disappointed and called Suttons for a replacement, which they sent out, although I couldn't believe anyone would send out such sick plants. Even if it worsened in transit, they would have looked clearly bad prior to packing. Anyway, 14 days later my new plants arrive, and… Read Full Review

“Tomato `duo' plant - what a cropper!”

Written on: 09/07/2013 by Bob-rhg33 (1 review written)

This is the first year I tried a Tomato Duo plant which was Suttons F1 Organino + F1 Florryno. I'm surprised and delighted with the results so far, it was easy to grow, a tall sturdy plant and I'm amazed to have at least 30 tomatoes on one truss, and actually quite large fruits, and other trusses also strong and well fruited. So they just need to ripen up now then I can asses their taste which I'm sure will live up to expectations… Read Full Review

“Kohl Rabi "Logo" - huge yet tender!”

Written on: 20/06/2013 by Gardenclaire (1 review written)

Accidentally left a few Suttons "Logo" kohl rabi in the tunnel over winter from last year. Day before yesterday (June 18th) we pulled one up and checked it out. Even though it weighs about 1kg and is HUGE it's still totally tender and tasty! We are amazed, were going to throw it on the compost but instead we've got a great bit of veg to last for a weeks' worth of salads! The packet says harvest at golf ball size. Hahaha - this is more like coconut size! Would totally recommend these, very… Read Full Review
