We have purchased numerous plug plants and potted vegetables this year. The quality seems variable and the packaging is very poor.There are too many damaged plants;my most recent order 15 sweet corn plugs were all damaged and the stems were all separated from the leaves. Customer services reply promptly but the reply are always standard and do not seem to have read the original email. So no more business with dories.

I used Dobies to purchase a present for my mum - used them for the first and last time.... I ordered some bulbs well in advance because deliveries etc take longer than normal and I get paranoid that presents won't arrive in time. Unfortunately for me (and my mum) Dobies hide behind the fact that they consider bulbs a perishable product, meaning you have only 14 days to return the item..... That means by the time I had given my mum her present and she opened it that the 14 days had passed. When she opened what was supposed to be 8 bulbs she found 2 in one packet and 1 in another - that's a shocking 5 missing and customer service simply don't care. The response was that there's nothing they could do (I beg to differ, they could do something if they wanted but chose not to). They have my money, that's all that matters to them. I told them I purchased it as a present - I wouldn't open someones present prior to giving it to them (the bag for the bulbs was white plastic rather than clear so I couldn't see in in order to check). I have no choice but to try my credit card company. I would say to be on the safe side, if you're planning on purchasing a present for someone then buy it from any company other than Dobies, you'll thank me if there's a problem.

Absolutely waste of time! Take your money but do not deliver goods on time. Tiny plug plants ordered in March for delivery 20th April 2020. Still not received all of the order! Some have arrived dried up shrivelled not even a label to say what they are! Still waiting, e mailed twice, same response " please read FAQs" Plants will be sent out at optimum growth! They are the most tiniest plug plant ever seen!! No excuse weather has been fantastic this Spring!! If they can't fulfill orders due to Pandemic then they shouldn't carry on on line taking people's money! Do not touch this company with a barge pole!!!!!

I ordered several packets of seeds from Dobies. Took an age to come and several of the packets missing (Items to follow). Two weeks (5 weeks from original order) later nothing?. Also planted in greenhouse first packets and nothing grew. Our own seeds and other companies mostly all germinated. Place is a joke

Some plants arrived months after the order, not packaged properly, dried out, one of the 3 actually dead They were all crawling with black fly The order process was terrible - there was no accurate estimate of what stage the order was at Ordered 09/03/2020 three items delivered after 6 weeks Some items have still not arrived 7 weeks later

Very disappointed that seeds were not dispatched in the 3-5 days stated in the order confirmation. Neither did they contact us to let us know that they would not meet that timescale. Received email today (after 12 days) implying that the order might be dispatched 15 days after order. Can I suggest that you don't mislead customers about the service you can offer.

NEW BUYERS BEWARE, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE!!! SAME COMPANY AS SUTTONS!!! BOTH NOT DESPATCHING ANY ORDERS BUT TAKING IMMEDIATE PAYMENT!!! Exactly the same company as Suttons who are also not shipping out peoples orders but taking immediate payment from them! Read reviews for Dobies & Suttons to see all recent bad reviews regarding both companies, although they have exact same address, regarding despatch times etc. Still personally waiting on my order from Suttons to even be despatched, bought weeks ago, but time I receive them (of I ever do!) it'll be too late for sowing. Made me waste time, money and effort on my garden and buying seeds I can't even get refunded because they have a policy where you need to recieve them, then post them back, in order for them to process your refund. I REPEAT, DO NOT ORDER FROM EITHER SITES!!!

Ordered a vitapod propagator,only to be sent the wrong pieces and a shortage of nuts and bolts to assemble the wrong pieces.Customer service rep had not got a clue what I was telling them and I started questioning my sanity.Eventually they admitted there incompetence and said they would send correct pieces,still not received them so still cannot build the product I ordered. Will never buy from this shoddy outfit again.

Placed an order for 4 trees and received only 2. After sometime was informed that they were unable to send the last 2 and wanted to refund . I explained that I was willing to wait until the Autumn only to be informed that as the price of the trees would be higher then they were unwilling to do this. surely , having acknowleged my order and taking my money Dobies would be gracefull enough to proceed with the order . Very disappointed.

I ordered a fruit cage from them on 11 April 2016 and the first one was "lost in transit" and never arrived; the second one arrived in a broken box with parts spilling out and two crucial parts missing. Turns out Dobies had subcontracted the sending of the fruit cages to Suttons Seeds, who promised to organise replacement parts but they never arrived. Now *neither* company is responding to my messages and at the end of May 2016 I am left with an expensive fruit cage that I can't construct. Don't under any circumstances buy anything from these people; their customer service is uninterested after an initial promise to respond and you could be left, as I have been, with a useless item and total silence from those responsible. I have photographic evidence of the broken box and copies of all my e-mail correspondence with Dobies and with Suttons Seeds. I ordered a plant in November last year. A paeony for someone's ruby anniversary present. To my great disappointment, this plant never materialised although they took my money straight away. They promised it in May this year but of course it has not arrived and they cannot say if it ever will. After several emails and a phone call, I have cancelled the order. Sadly, I will not be using Dobies again.

I made my order from Dobies and received my first just following the Easter holidays, the plants must have been stuck in the postal system for a while and arrived in a sorry state. I wrote an email to Dobies who sent me out replacement plugs straight away. They have arrived in a week perfectly and now potted on successfully. Already planning my next purchase from Dobies well done!Hope the plant turn out as good as their service.

I am a lover of Cosmos plants and I usually sow the White Sensation variety but this year I decided to give this variety a go after seeing it in Dobies catalogue and I am delighted with the outcome. In the border the plants are striking and a good foil to the lime green nicotianas. In my pots they are the centrepiece with trailing lobelia around them as well as climbing up them. I have teamed the Cosmos with Coleus and red and purple fuchsias. Gorgeous.

These strawberries were an offer which I thought sounded good, although I don't normally grow them but I'm very pleased I did because the flowers are astonishing. The plants themselves arrived well packaged, well grown and strong. As I said, I don't normally grow strawberries, but full instructions came with the pack, and I didn't have any problems. I did pot them on because the weather wasn't of the best, and I thought in any case it would give them a better chance, but they've grown on strongly in the ground and look great. I think they'd certainly be worth the full price, just on flower power, but the strawberries themselves although not ripe yet are looking very good. Well done Dobies.

Most nurseries are good for some things but not for others, however Dobies have not once let me down once even though I have ordered all sorts of fruit flowers and vegetables. Delivery dates were adhered to and beautifully packed plants arrived in perfect condition despite careless postal services . Thank you to all concerned. Looking forward to the next catalogue.

I planted 3 Casablanca 1st early spuds, from Dobies of Devon, in each of 2 black buckets at the beginning of March. They stayed in the greenhouse until the beginning of June and I have just harvested 2.5 kg of splendid, tasty spuds. Two more buckets to go - yippee! A must for next year.

ordered garden ready begonias from canny gardener jersey plants direct and dobies canny gardener and jersey plants were far too small for late may but dobies were excellent and were garden ready and no losses as packaging was superb

my husband and I have been buying vegetable and flower seeds, herbacious border plants and annual flower plants in plug form for over 30 years. We have been satisfied enough to buy them every year during that time. We have always been happy with the service we had from Dobies and since it started, buying on the computer has been very straight forward. We would recommend the whole system to anyone.The seasonal catalogues you supply are excellent in colour and quality.
