“How To Get Your Money Back!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/11/2013

It would appear a very large number of people have been left with a worthless voucher, a large debt, deposit not refunded, or no photos, because "the company has gone into liquidation". There's a reason for this. There is a long list of companies that have gone into liquidation. "New ID Studios Limited" went into liquidation on 11 September 2012. The New ID Studios website was then being run by "New ID & Burlingtons 1 Limited (trading as New ID Studios). This company was previously called "New ID Studios Limited", "New ID & Burlingtons 1 Limited" and finally "New ID & Burlingtons London Limited". It too went into liquidation on 7 June 2013. See a pattern here? Yes of course, we all do. So as each company goes bust, the debts get left behind, meanwhile the same people start up with a new company and carry on as if nothing was wrong. It's called a Phoenix company. Almost without fail the same name of directors crops up for each company. IF YOU HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT OF POCKET DO NOT JUST WALK AWAY! Report this to Trading Standards, and Action Fraud. Lots of people have already, but the more that do it the better the case they can bring. You won't get all your money back - but you might get some. But you'll also stop these people from doing this.

“Avoid at all costs - Terrible service, poor images, Awful.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Charbear53 on 04/03/2013

Originally booked into the Westfield studio, which closed down before our session. No-one bothered to re-book this for us, luckily I double checked out appointment to then find this out. When I did manage to re-book it I was met by a very rude and arrogant male member of staff (John Princes Street location) before being dealt with by a female who was a lot friendlier. The day itself was not a wonderful experience. It was OK. The lady that re-booked us was lovely, hairdresser didn't say a word - except when he was a little rude about the condition of my hair, make-up artist was lovely but didn't have a clue about colouring and style, nail artist was very sweet and the photographer was genuinely a lovely guy. The rest of them were rude, arrogant, pushy and had no customer service skills at all. Offered a drink after I'd been there 2 hours, then another just as we were about to view our images. I was so thirsty! Not the "complimentary drinks throughout your day" as I'd paid for. Haircuts for the both of us were OK - incredibly basic though, please don't expect anything fashionable or a new style, I literally had a wash and trim and styled exactly as it was when I arrived. I know photographic make-up requires heavy application, however the artist decided I was tanned (she even said I looked like I'd been in the sun!) and I turned out quite brown (I'm one of the palest people you will meet, even the palest foundations are too dark for me). She also couldn't care less when I told her that I had very sensitive skin, and said "well you're not allergic are you" as she slathered on even more thick foundation. I had a pale pink lip gloss applied which was nice, but not a strong enough colour as I'd requested, so I asked for bold flicky eyelinered eyes. She told me she didn't do eyeliner on big eyes like mine so I ended up with splotchy black eyeshadow and barely any mascara. I looked like a cheap hooker. The shoot was OK, we were rushed to change outfits, rushed through a variety of rooms (having to dodge and dive other customers in our outfits, and the sets were dated and battered. These damaged parts, dirty marks and discrepancies weren't even touched up in our images! The poses we were put in were awful, unflattering and just didn't suit my curvy body shape or outfits (I had a short skirt on and was constantly asked to climb on the back of a sofa, thus exposing a lot of leg and on some occasions a little more!). However the photographer was a wonderful guy, but needs a hell of a lot more posing experience in order to justify what they try and charge you for copies of the images, both on disc and print. Our images were horrific. Many out of focus, a lot over-exposed, some far too dark, nearly all were over-processed post-shoot so we had no eye-colour (Just black circles) or even the slightest wrinkle (looks far too fake!). In many poses my mouth was in between a smile and the common "part your lips" they ask you to do, and my partner had a half blink in a lot of frames. Where my face was so brown, most images where my upper arm or hands were in shot made me look like a half painted oompaloopma. Upon viewing our images, we experienced a very pushy, rude salesman who tried telling us we weren't allowed "couples shots" as part of our package, and we'd have to pay extra for those. I stood up to him, he got increasingly rude and obnoxious after this as I was in the right according to my voucher - which at the end of the day was the only reason I purchased a "couples" photoshoot! He let us whittle the images down, he knew some were "maybes" - and then told us we'd need to pay £2000 for them! We kept telling him we only wanted the 6 we'd paid for via our voucher, but he kept trying to get us to buy more. He then told us all the images will be deleted within 6 months, so after that we wouldn't be able to get any more. Oh well, no loss for us! It really is an average experience with very disappointing results and I'd recommend you invest maybe a little more money in a photographer that won't charge you £50 for a small print, or £100 for one image on a disc. There are so many out there who won't try and rip you off and give you fantastic images at the end of it. Many smaller photographers will also archive your images indefinitely too. Please avoid New ID Studios, they really are a waste of time and money!

“Great Makeover but expensive images”

★★★★★

written by notetaker on 20/11/2012

Great quality makeover with New ID. The only think you need to know is the prices of the prints that are all on the New ID website but to give you an idea the 5 x 7 print is 50 pounds, the 12 x 16 is 99 pounds and the biggest that is 20 x 24 is 249 pounds. One negative on CD is 100 pounds and a full CD of 20 is 1400 pounds. As you can see from that the images are rather on the pricy side although the actual cost of the makeovers is very low and starts at 20 pounds if you want makeup and a shoot with dry hair styling, the mid range ones are around 50 pounds but do come with 25 pounds credit towards your prints. The more expensive ones that are in the hundreds are more geared towards model portfolio as they have a lot more prints included. The standard of the makeover I received was superb and the staff service was top notch. I think anybody on a regular sort of income would love this makeover experience providing they are only after a couple of medium sized shots that are mailed to you after you leave. I would not hesitate to recommend New ID providing that the person who is going for the makeover is aware of the cost of the shots.

“A lovely gift from my friend”

★★★★★

written by beckyjames on 10/11/2012

I had such an amazing time at the Birmingham branch of New ID when I went there for a makeover. The voucher was a gift from a friend that I got for looking after her dogs while she went on holiday, I was in two minds to start out with but after I had a look at the website I thought it looked like just what I needed, I have been walking around with the same look for as long as I can remember so as I have a friend in Birmingham so I went to stay there the day before and took advantage of the great shopping at the Bull Rink to get some great outfits for the shoot, I took along 3.The following day I got to the studio at 9am, they offered me some Bucks Fizz but it was far too early for me, I don’t drink very much at the best of times so I stuck to the coffee and tea, but there was plenty of it and they were very good about making sure that I had a drink at all times. I had a nice chat with a girl that told me everything I needed to know about the makeover and she helped me work out my new look, that was not so different just a bit of an updated version of my old one. I had a very nice hair cut by a young chap that looked like he was fresh out of school but it turned out he had been doing hair for five years already and I was very happy with the way that he did mine. I liked the makeup too and got some very good ideas about how to do it myself and the photo session as a hoot! It was so unbelievably hard to choose the pictures, I would have liked to have all of them but there were much too many. I came out of New ID feeling like I had had the perfect transformation and would love to go again

“Makeover and great gift idea”

★★★★★

written by thecalculator on 04/11/2012

I was trying to figure out what to get my daughters for Christmas when a friend of mine told me that she is getting her kids vouchers to get makeovers. I had a look at New ID online on her advice and thought it was an amazing idea. If you pay before you go for the shots New ID match the amount you put down so I decided to get them each a voucher and put two hundred pounds toward the prints for them that range from fifty pounds to two hundred and forty nine. I then decided that I would go and treat myself to a makeover and booked the deluxe version at fifty pounds. I has the most super half day at New ID and was quite astounded at how gorgeous they made me look. I have not told the girls that I have been and plan to put the framed shots that I got on the wall and have them admire them when they come over on Xmas day and then be delighted with their gifts. New ID is a really special experience and I think a voucher is a great gift idea for anybody out there that can’t figure out what to buy people as I was, I also think it’s a great idea to go along first and treat yourself as I also did!

“Makeover at New id”

★★★★★

written by hankejane on 31/10/2012

I went to New ID for my makeover and from the experience I had I think it is fair to say that I rate them pretty highly. The good things are that the makeup is great, I love New ID cosmetics, they last for ages and they come in really cool shades, the way the woman did my makeup was great. She did a chart for me that detailed what she put where, I have brought all of the products that she used on me, to be fair my makeup does look a lot better than it used to but it is not really like she did it! The hair cut was great, I was pretty happy with that, but it was a bit shorter than I wanted! The free drink was great, I am not the biggest fan of Bucks Fizz but alcohol is always better than no alcohol. The photo session was fun but it was a bit rushed as they were very busy that day but having said that the photos were out of this world I was really seriously impressed with them. The down side to this is the price of the pictures it’s not that they are overpriced it is just that they are so good you are going to want all of them and it is a bit heartbreaking not to be able to buy them all but unless you have some serious cash to spend you are not going to be able to get all of them

“Sucessful makeover at New ID”

★★★★★

written by cassyopinion on 25/10/2012

New ID is a great company if you want to get a really good haircut and look and feel great! This was one of the most uplifting experiences I have had in a while and it certainly gave me a much needed boost to my ego! I have been using New ID cosmetics for few years now, they are very long lasting and surprisingly affordable. I found out about them when my sister when and had a makeover with New ID she brought some home with her and I tried them and then brought some online. I was really impressed with the makeup that they did for me on that day and have since been back for a makeup lesson that I enjoyed enormously. It taught me a lot about making the very best of what I have got and as we get older I think we all need a bit of that. The standard of the prints at New ID are really good, I had a makeover with another company years ago and although the experience was good the quality of the prints was really rubbish and it really wrecked the experience for me and I vowed to never use them again. I was at New ID for about four hours and loved every minute if it, the bucks fizz went down really well and I thought all of the team were lovely. This is probably not something you would do every day unless you have a large house you want to fill with prints of yourself but it is certainly worth doing for the ego boost alone.

“Deluxe Makeover at New ID”

★★★★★

written by reddingbox on 22/10/2012

I found the deluxe makeover to be very successful at New ID. I went on the recommendation of a friend and after I had read so many positive reviews online about them. One of the few negatives things that I have read about this company is that there is often a lot of time that you are in the salon but not doing anything. After I purchased the voucher online I phoned to make the appointment and asked if they could recommend a day to me where I would not be left hanging around as I can’t stand that. They suggested going on Wednesday at 9am which I did and my whole makeover took just over two hours and the only delay I experienced was waiting for the shots to be prepared for viewing and I don’t suppose they can do much about that. There were plenty of shots to chose from and they all had different poses, backgrounds and lighting effects. I was impressed with the overall service that I received and thought that the staff were well trained, well presented ad very friendly. The photographer was very talented and also made me feel very comfortable in what are not exactly normal conditions, it was my first professional photoshoot and part of me had been dreading it as I am not normally that comfortable in front of a camera. I came away feeling very happy and satisfied

“Mum to be shoot”

★★★★★

written by helenmiller on 06/10/2012

I got a Mum to be photoshoot at New ID after a friend put me onto them. I only paid twenty pounds for it direct of the new id site and that included some software for the computer to make novelty items out of your photo, a very warm welcome with consultation where you get to sit in a one on one situation and ask questions about the day, you get a make-up application session where you get to try out and wear all of the amazing new id cosmetics and you get dry hair styling on top of that and it is astounding what they can do without washing and cutting your hair and then of course you get the most wonderful photo session where you can pose and play around as much as you like before you get to see your pictures and chose the ones that you want. I was really very impressed with the salon, it had a lovely atmosphere and was a great place to spend a few hours. I thought that I was going to feel really bashful especially as I had decided to have some shots done bump put but they lovely woman that took my pictures made me feel very comfortable and not a bit self conscious. There were some great things to have your shots taken with and you end up with lots t chose from. For twenty pounds I thought this was an amazing deal.

“Huge improvement at New ID”

★★★★★

written by spalding77 on 27/09/2012

I had a deluxe makeover at New ID a few years ago and to be honest it was not that good. The salon was a bit chaotic and I was there for about six and a half hours, nobody told me about the wait time and the hard sell was just awful. My sister took me again last week, she had two gift vouchers for the place and I was not looking forwards to it in the least. However it was completely amazing. We were in and out in less than four hours. There was no hard sell, the salon was spotless and the staff were so friendly and not a bit of hard sell. The quality of the shots were incredible and I found the whole thing pretty hard to fault. I am not sure if they are under new management since my last visit but something I would never have recommended to anybody I am now recommending to everybody and I have brought four vouchers as presents for my daughters. The makeup range is way better than it was, so good in fact I brought quite a few items that they used on the makeover. I think now that even though the prints are still quite pricy New ID now is actually really good value for money and I for certain will be going again.

“Great makeover and photoshoot”

★★★★★

written by Annafish on 25/09/2012

Pretty much everything was perfect when I went to New ID to take part in a makeover and photoshoot. I was told on the phone by the lady that took my booking that it could be very busy as I was going on a Saturday and I could expect to be there for up to six hours and to take food and a book. As it turned out I was only there for four hours. I booked on the New ID website as I could not find a better deal for this anywhere else online and turned up half an hour early. First of all you get a consultation of sorts, its really just a chat about the makeover and what you do and do not want done to your hair or put on your face. I had evening wear for my photoshoot so that was all pretty straight forwards. I was after a sultry nighttime look and that is exactly what I got. The makeover is a sort of conveyer belt of loveliness where you get your hair washed, cut, dried, styled. Get your makeup done. Go into the studio and put on your first outfit, do a set with that one, change, do another set and then change and then do another set. You can take up to four outfits with you but I just took three. I don’t have four evening dresses! The photographer was only young but he was really sweet and made me feel like a princess and look like a princess as well in the shots. I had to wait an hour to see them but that is the only time that I was not actually doing something and I brought five of them and got one free. I liked New ID, it is a great concept that works well when you are there. I give it full marks.

“A good makeover with New ID”

★★★★☆

written by greensmith on 17/09/2012

My New ID makeover went pretty well. I enjoyed being in the salon, the makeup was great, I was overwhelmed with how well they did my hair and the photoshoot was a really wonderful experience. The down sides to the day were that a large proportion of the time in the salon is spent waiting around for the staff t be available to do your hair, makeup and take your pictures and I had to wait over an hour to see the prints. The value I thought was very good as I only paid fifty pounds for the voucher and even though the prints are quite costly a lot of hard work goes into the makeover. I am not sure if they were short staffed the day I was there and that is why there was such a delay but I felt sorry because this was the only thing that let it down and that is the only thing that would stop me going again. I think if I did go again I would go during the week. The staff were very friendly despite being rushed off their feet and they all did a great job of my makeover and were very apologetic for the delay. The viewing session was unhurried and there was no hard sell. I would recommend this to anybody that has a good book they have been meaning to read and does not mind waiting around for a while.

“A great New ID Makeover”

★★★★★

written by daviesashley on 15/09/2012

Having a makeover with New ID great. Not only was I looking forwards to receiving the prints that I had painstakingly chosen from the viewing session when I left I felt that I had made some new friends, found a great hairdresser that I will be using from now on and learnt a lot about makeup to boot! I found New ID online and as soon as I saw the before and after shots page I was sold. This experience has re-launched my enthusiasm for hair and makeup that has been sadly lacking as a busy mum, given me back some confidence in myself and made me remember how important it is to make an effort and put your best foot forward. The team at New ID do an amazing job and all credit to them for the lovely environment they have created at New ID. I felt pampered and happy and relaxed in the hands of the professionals. I will be going back to New ID for hair cuts in the future and affordable professional makeup for special occasions in the future.

“Great thing to do if yo stick to a pre planned budget”

★★★★★

written by penswift on 08/09/2012

First of all in terms of customer service I think this place is fantastic. It salon is easy to find, it is clean, you get a warm welcome when you walk in, the staff are efficient and dealt with my booking on the phone and booking me in when I got there with a smile and with ease. There were people on hand the whole time I was there if I wanted anything or if I had any questions even though everybody was very busy with the salon packed full of customers. Even though it was packed everybody got individual attention, there was a place to sit for everybody and there was more than enough Bucks Fizz to go around. If you are like me and want a change of hairstyle and a new makeup look but have no idea what you don’t need to worry. There are lots of pictures up on the wall and there are plenty of books to look at and magazines and before and after shots where you will find lashings of inspiration. I was in the salon for five hours. This sounds like a very long time just to have a haircut and makeup and a photoshoot but believe me it goes really fast and there is so much to see and watch, I was not at all bored even though I had hoped to only be in there for a couple of hours. There were plenty of shots to choose from. It would be very easy to find yourself buying far more and spending far more than you anticipated so my only real warning is decide a budget before you get there and stick to it, because you will want 90% of your shots and even the small ones are fifty pounds!

“Enjoyable makeover experience ”

★★★★★

written by pinkcherry on 06/09/2012

My makeover at New ID was very enjoyable. I was impressed with ninety percent of it. The best parts about it were that it was easy to book online and there was a lot of very useful information on the website. I found it easy to get all the information that I needed. The receptionist was welcoming and told me all I needed to know about the makeover. I liked the lady that did my hair immensely she was very experienced and helped me to chose a style that I would easily be able to do myself. I am a busy mum of five and this to me was very important. I liked how she took how much time I had to style my own hair into consideration before she cut it. The makeup was OK it was rather heavy for me and now how I would normally have chosen to have it done but it I did work out very well in the picture that were quite astounding. The salon was nice, it was clean and it had a very nice atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and supportive. The only things I did not like was that I was hanging around doing nothing for a large proportion of the time that I was there, five hours. The prints take up to eight weeks to come and there was a postage charge that I was not aware of. Other than that it was a very enjoyable experience that I would be very happy to repeat.

“Makeup lesson and a Makeover ”

★★★★★

written by bingopoker on 20/08/2012

Second visit to New ID was just as good as the first. Fist time I went for a makeup lesson that I got as a gift and enjoyed it so much I have treated several of my friends and family to the same thing and they have loved it just as much as I did. I learnt a vast amount during the lesson and finally got my head around how to do evening style makeup that is something that I always struggled with before making a right mess of my eyes on a fairly regular basis. Its funny because with the right products and the right know how that smoldering eyes thing is pretty easy to achieve. Anyway. The next time I went back was for a photoshoot makeover and this time I wanted a daytime look rather than evening glamour. The amazing thing was that when the lady did my makeup this time I learnt almost as much as I did when I went for the actual lesson so if you do have that extra bit of time and money then I would recommend going for the makeover. The makeover I had was great. As well as a really enjoyable makeup session I got a great haircut that I love and is easy to maintain. The lady who cut it was great and really listened to what I wanted before she got cutting. The photoshoot was totally amazing and there were so many different shots to chose from, I had three different outfits and so many different backgrounds, I was really impressed with the variety of shots to chose from. I was not put off by the price of the prints because I checked another place that was offering as similar service and that was more costly and the private photographer I approached was way more than that. New ID did a great job for me both times, personally I love them.

“A veryy successful makeover”

★★★★★

written by messyeater on 14/08/2012

I also had a super time at New ID. I went to have makeover after a rather long illness. My sister brought me the voucher that I found out later cost fifty pounds. She thought that I could do with a moral boost and she was not wrong. It did me the world of good and it was a huge lift to see myself looking good again after months of looking dreadful. I think that the New ID makeovers are just as good as they say they are going to be, they do work some kind of miracle and it does do every woman, and man and child good to see themselves at their best. I would like to thank all of the salon staff that were involved in my transformation. First the receptionist who made me feel so welcome and dealt with my booking so efficiently. The lovely girl that did such a nice job of washing my hair and giving me a head massage. The lady who cut my hair so beautifully and the second stylist that styled it to perfection. I want the thank the lady who did my makeup and her amazing wizardry with cosmetics. The photographer who made me feel ten feet tall and made me look so incredible in the pictures. I want to thank the lad that showed me the shots and did not push me to buy more than I could afford and the whole team for makeover my makeover experience such a huge success.

“I loved New ID and want to go again”

★★★★★

written by thegrill on 30/07/2012

I totally digged having a makeover with New ID, it was wicked and I can’t wait to go again. I am not really a big fashion person and that was half the reason that I decided to go and have this experience to sort of give me a jump start into looking better and boy did it work. First off I got there, after the voucher that I got online came and I phoned up and booked the appointment. On the phone they told me about a roll over deal that I had missed online. This is where you put the money you want to spend on the prints to New ID as a deposit, along with the booking deposit, that you also get to redeem on your shots as long as you turn up! I had the promised consultation with a lady that was really cool and very informative. The next thing that happens is you go and get your hair washed and cut. I was well impressed with the young stylist who seemed to really understand my very coarse and curly hair, something no other hair dresser has managed to do for me, let alone a kid is age. The next thing you do is get the slap on and boy did I love the makeup that they did for me, it was superb, really awesome. I did not care one hoot that they put heaps on, I loved it and it made me look very cool and very glam. Next up is getting it all going in front of the photographer who was well cool and made me laugh so much I have never seen myself looking so happy in front of a camera, I totally digged the shots and really wished I had the cash, or was not blacklisted on credit, to buy more, but I am going to get around this by saving up hard and going back as soon as I can! The makeover was only fifty quid so it is going to be no problem. I cant wait to get back and do this again and cannot imagine that anybody would not love it.
