We were very happy with Shell.com at the beginning as the billing process seemed so simple to follow compared to BT. As time progressed we were being charged for extra Broadband usage, for which they could never supply a decent report to show how this was being used, taking an age for any response from them. Time came when we wanted to upgrade our phone system and needed to move to a different provider. We had been with Shell for a number of years and no longer on a tied contract, just a rolling monthly situation. When we came to advise them of our intent to move we suddenly were on an apparent 2 yr contract for which we had 'opted in'!!! They send us a copy of a letter we had supposedly been sent about this new contract (which coincidentally was dated as contract starting on the same month as the month we were moving to our new supplier, but in the year prior - leaving us with a full year of the contract to go). News to us and when we asked for this proof of our 'opt in' they never came back to us. They wanted to charged us £890 for the early cessation of the contract. We didn't pay and have had no further communication on it, other than the office lady saying it is with their legal team. We will contest it if it comes to it. At the same time as us telling them we were moving our Broadband overusage went up massively, again no report worth salt to prove we had used used what they say we had. Are we supposed to just trust them?? They also tried to charge us a £25 fee for cancelling our DD. We didn't want to give them free reign with collecting money given the situation. They said DD is the only way to pay them, when only a few days before I'd had an email saying I could ring and pay by card. I challenged them on it and funnily it was dropped. When you are leaving them they expect you to pay for upcoming months std chgs when you know you won't be with them, saying you'll get credited at the end. No fear, we don't trust them an inch and so only paid what we knew to be due. They seem to play every trick in the book and yet when you ask for proof they can't provide it.

Stay away from these people. I tried to get one phone line installed into my propoerty and it took 3 months!!!!

Just because I am going with Virgin for my home phone on the 31st January they have been that petty they have cut off my call divert 1471 etc they say telecom have to migrate and they have to do this 14 days before spoke to Virgin and they have said that is rubbish there is no need to do this. They still want there money though stay well clear of this company

I wish i had looked at these reviews before i signed with them, as they lie to me all the time. I am paying much more than i did with BT, it all looks good to start with but you will pay extra charges that you did not expect. My advise stay clear

What an absolute nightmare of a company, friendly to start but if you try leaving they pull all manor of underhand tricks. We have increased charges on our services which they refuse to provide any evidence for. I have paid what we know to be the correct amount and they have cut us off for not paying their additional charges which they cannot substantiate. It is difficult to believe that these practices exist in this day and age. I can only assume from the diverse reviews on here that some are from customers and some are from those with association to Shell.

We switched to Shellcom in April 2012 after awful service from our previous supplier. We have been delighted with their prompt dealings with all our queries. When our previous supplier took us to the Small Claims Court we contacted Shellcom for help and advice. One of their staff offered to help us. He spent several hours over 3 weekends in his own time helping us prepare our case. This involved dealing with pages and pages of paperwork and contracts and making many phone calls. As a direct result of his help the case against us was dismissed and we were awarded our costs by the Court. What a star!

Really helpful staff. I have just come back to Shell after I was slammed by another Company. The staff sorted it all for me, and gave me a mobile as part of a comeback deal for nothing. I will not be moving again as they are a lot cheaper then anywhere else, and also always very helpful. Not sure if the negative comments on here are real as I have nothing but thanks to them. Will definitely recommend to others.

I was pointed to this site yesterday by my account manager and I think the last review is rubbish I have had a great service for nearly 4 years. They have never let me down and the only time my bill was higher than the package was on a couple of times but I had used more broadband then usual and I had to call Ireland to speak with family but I know these aren't in my deal but then I pay on time as we'll so I suppose that helps. I can get hold of my account manager morning noon and night so do not see any problems with service or calling back I think they are great people and know me by my first name when I call in. I didn't get that at BT. My price has not gone up for 4 years and I will be staying with them. I RECCOMEND THEM TO ANYONE IN BUSINESS WHO NEEDS A GOOD SERVICE AND PRICE

This company is a complete and utter joke! None of of our bills have ever been at the fixed rate we were promised so basically totally mis-sold the product. Took 5 months to actually get the change over sort of done - and still on going!!!! Lost phone and internet connection for 6 weeks! Customer service is shocking! You get cut off if you dont pay your bills on time! Get charged £15.00 on each bill if you dont pay by direct debit! Call diversion charges get added to your bill even when its not your fault! Calls are very rarely returned! The paperwork dont get produced correctly to do the change over and you end up paying 2 suppliers and then have to battle to get your money back! Basically if your after a decent phone or internet provider DO NOT USE shell!!

I am writing this after speaking with my account manager. I have been with shellcom for 2 years, and have just renewed for another 2 years. I have landlines, mobiles and broadband with shellcom, and I pay one price for everything. I have my own account manager, and Shellcom bought me out of my past Contracts no problem. I can understand why Christian is slightly annoyed by the last review, as it is certainly not my opinion or how I have found shellcom or Christian when dealing with things. Shame other happy customers do not come on and speak out.

The service of Shell communications is absolutely awful, we were mis-sold this contract!!! We have never had a bill for the fixed amount that was promised by sales team who sold us on the contract, and the MD of the company is not willing to talk and sort out the problem we have. I cannot believe the reviews on this site for this company as their knowledge and ability to sort out problems if awful. Have just received this months bill and about £100 over the fixed amount agreed, how can they get way with this?????

We absolutely agree with all of the above! We were definately missold, have had constant problems with the Company and never had one bill that is correct! The last bill contained charges fof £155 for a site visit by an engineer that we didn't request. Also they cut all our lines off in January with no prior warning for a debt that we didn't know was owing! We have lodged a complaint with Cisas and are now waiting for the process to take its course. Am so pleased to find another complaint, as we we could not beleive that we were the only ones having troulble with Shellcom. We urge anyone having problems with this Company to contact Ofcom, and maybe if they get enough complaints they'll raise their own investigation into the Company. We've been with them since June 2013 and given them every chance to sort our problems out. If you're thinking of joining Shell Communications - DON'T !!!

I do not agree with the last 2 reviews. I have been with Shell Communications since May 2012. I have never had a problem with their service, both when calling them or the services they provide. I have just agreed another 24 month contract with them and I am happy to write this review. I suppose not everyone can have a good view on companies as you cannot please all of the people all of the time, but mine on Shell is good. I would recommend them to anyone.

Totally agree with the previous review. If everything works fine and you dont have to call them then there is not a problem. But as soon as you need support or customer service then there are major problems. They never return phone calls and in my honest opinion half the time they either fob you off or lie to you. Wish I had never used them and will be switching as soon as my contract comes to an end.

This is an honest review of Shell Communications Ltd. They are quite simply terrible at resolving problems. I have experienced over billing on a fixed price contract and they have spent over 3 months investigating this issue. For a very small company there is no reason for it to take so long and they just keep fobbing me off. The over billing is a mistake on their part that they seem unwilling to resolve. There IT support for the broadband is also useless as it takes weeks to get support instead of immediately like a typical broadband ISP. Sadly I am tied into a contract so can not leave for the time being. I wish I had chosen an established company that had a proven track record. The actual phone service I have works but the support behind it is really not acceptable. I don't normally write reviews but when I went looking for info on Shell Communications there was little to be had. I therefore decided my opinion was worth stating publicly as the other reviews here are out of date and do not reflect my experience of this company.

Like the previous review, I spent many months with a terrible Company. Shell offer great rates, fantastic service and a total no hassle experience. I would recommend them to anyone. I pay one price per month for all of my telecom services, so no changes in prices or bills whatsoever. Once again Great Company - Well Done Shell

I have just joined Shellcom after 2 years of being bullied by my old provider. They have great service and my first invoices are extremely cheap. I would recommend to anyone. I only pay £12 for business broadband compared to £29.99 with Unicom and my actually calls and line rentals work out about £30 per month cheaper. This means I am saving over £48 per month. Well done Shell keep it going.
