“Changing reasons not to pay!”

My dog had a reaction to either Sainsburys organic beef mince or a white natural chew from the pet shop, his eyes and lips swelled so I took him to the nearest vets just incase the reaction effected his breathing I didn't want to risk being in the car longer to go to my regular vets. He was given a steroid jab and an anti-inflammatory and then the following day the lips and eyes swelling went down but he developed lumps all over his body and head, again the vets Goddards treated him with antibiotics this time and some pro or pre biotic. After a short while I noticed hair loss on his legs and infant of his ears, so this time I took him to my regular vets Companion Care to a Vet thats in in practice for many more years than the girl at Goodards. He wanted to rule out mites so took skin samples and the all clear was given, the Vet confirmed that this is probably a reaction to what had happened as his immune system was compromised and asked me to just leave him for 6 months in the hope that it grows back.

I asked each vet to send the paperwork to Petprotect and cutting a long story short explained to the staff what had happened. They later confirmed receiving Goddards paperwork but not Companion Care and so I got the paperwork resent. They then said that these are two different issues and would need confirmation from the vets if they relate to the same issue. Again I got the vets to confirm this and email it to Petprotect. This time the story changes... The customer service manager said that after speaking with the assessors they said that the different vet visits were either side of my renewal date and so can not constitute the same claim. I had a £75 excess which mean that the last test from companion care meant that I received 42 pence...!

The stories of why they couldn't class my dogs reaction as the same issue had repeatedly changed and I never got to speak to the same person twice. This was long winded and a total waste of time. Very disappointed with Petprotect.
