“terrible bordering on criminal ”

I had a pet plan policy for nearly the hole life of my 2 dogs one of which died last year of cancer in he's stomach, after a taking him to vets4pets in Grimsby we where told to take him for scans at another vets. On 21st of July I was told by the vets that I would be covered by pet plan for all the bills so I thought no more of it and assumed I would not need to do anything about contacting pet plan to adjust the direct debit, on the 02nd of sept my account was debited for £49.62 which is the premium for 2 dogs I assumed at the time it was a mistake and thought I will surely be refunded, then on the 31st October I received a invoice from the vets for £262.84, 101 days after the Bruno's death I my opinion this is far to late to present on invoice for anything. I them sent pet plan a email asking for an explanation why it had taken so long for me to be told I owed money to the vets I finally had a response from them on the 29th of December 161 days after Bruno's death they final told me that after a dog reaches 8 years old they only pay 80% of the vets bill and do not pay for euthanasia. In the letter there was no explanation to why it had taken so long and they said the claim was closed on 16th of august which is incorrect if my account was debit the full amount in September also in the letter there was a check for £35.00 which I'm guessing is a standard thing for anyone that complains which does not even cover the £50.32 they charged after Bruno was put down, which I will be sending back to them as I find this insulting. You buy pet insurance to remove some of the stress for over price vets bills but the loss of my best friend has been turned in a long draw out process thanks to pet plan and incompetent paperwork processing my advice for anyone thinking of taking out pet insurance is to take out a standing order to an account and use the money from that for any unexpected vets bills as you are in full control of it and not at the mercy off small print from companies like pet plan who seemingly only care about there shareholders and not people who have paid into policies for years and when you need them are told they are not fully covered.
