I have had two dogs insured with pet plan and all is well while they are taking your money but when it comes to them paying out they are just Awful , they add to an already stressful and upsetting time when your pet is ill they will wangle their way out of paying with quotes such as "well it does state in our policy" type answer . In brief 1st dog paid premium for two years then cancelled after they would not pay a penny for any treatment as they said it was related to his first visit to the vets and this fell before the initial 14 day period, illness was not related so cancelled policy after rude and unhelpful help line .
2nd dog became diabetic and needed insulin had to pay excess which yes is fair but then she had problems with her pancreas and i was told i needed to pay another excess as the conditions were not related , now i am no medic but insulin is produced by the pancreas i think , but i paid as i had to then her medication was a special veterinarian food plan but guess what PETPLAN dont class food as medication ! so even though i could only purchase this food from the vets at £58.00 every 2 weeks petplan would NOT pay . My precious little girl did have to be put to sleep in the end after a very upsetting 2 years of hassle from petplan AVOID AT ALL COSTS it was the worst experiance ever . I have 3 dogs at this time with no insurance i have 3 little piggy banks and put £ 5.00 per week in each knowing that this will work out cheaper than if i had any policy and free from any upset i will have money to help them if they ever need it .
