“I ONLY SCORED 1 STAR BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING LOWER!!”

I have used Petplan for years through all my dogs, and never had any issues, however I have recently had 2 valid claims rejected ( retained testicle and Heart Murmur )on the grounds that "you did not tell us of your animals history when you first arranged cover" very strange considering the vets I use filled in a immediate vetinary cover with Petplan which was free for 4 weeks when he had his first injections. The other issue is that they fail to see that vets do encourage you to leave both of these problems for approx 6 months as these are common in puppies and they can both rectify themselves.
I never had any of these problems until Petplan changed there underwriters!!
My mother also used Petplan for years but changed when Petplan kept increasing there premiums certainly after a dog hits 10 years of age, We both now use More than and through the claims have been excellent I would not recommend or use Petplan ever again.

Retained testicle is a pre-existing condition, so is obviously not covered. A heart murmur is less clear cut, as this can only be diagnosed by a vet with specialist doppler equipment, NOT by a vet using a stethoscope.
What could you claim for on a heart murmur, unless it is just the cost of the testing?

when you comment on someone's review make sure you get your facts straight. I don't know how long you have been in the veterinary world. A heart murmur CAN be picked up by a stethoscope (depending on how bad it is and how much money you wanna spend on this, as your average vet doesn't have doppler equipment on hand so we are talking about referral cost here, which in 99.9% of cases is insurance), they are common in pups and kittens and sometimes do disappear, however your they are a higher risk of developing it again in later life and insurance is all risk based. as for retained testicle, if your pup is 8 weeks old testicles will not have dropped yet, if you got it insured than no problem, once it hits 4,5 months old and it hasn't dropped than the likelihood of it happening is low, so i guess your pup was a bit older than your usual 8 weeks. But your vets would have had to declare this on that 4 week free cover note.
