Although we purchased these in January, we only unpacked them 10 days ago upon arrivival in our new home in Portugal. One of the recliner chairs completely collapsed when my wife went to stand up from it. Upon inspection I noticed there were no screws through the aluminium frame into the plastic sockets that hold the chairs together. I have now fixed the said chair by buying and inserting metal putty into the hollow plastic socket, which was fractured, drilled holes and inserted screws, which I also had to buy.
From an engineering point of view, the probable cause of this accident is that the plastic sockets should be made at least 25mm longer and the wall thickness should be 100% more, or even made solid. I suggest a hole be drilled right through the aluminium frame and the socket and a bolt or rivet to be engaged in this hole, to eleviate this problem happening again.
