    Positives: Fully auto or fully manual thus great versatility. I wanted DSLR control without the bulk which this camera has. Hot-shoe for flash.

    Negatives: Too big to shove in your pocket. Accessories (case, flash etc) expensive. Case a fiddle. No lens protection other than cap.

    Bought this to replace a previous Panasonic (which it turns out doesn't appreciate being dropped in the sand at the beach). So far this is a big improvement.     The Panasonic DMC-FX500 is the second digital camera I have owned. I went for the FX500 for 3 major reasons. The 5x zoom, HD 30 frames per second video and the wide angle lens.
