Suzuki outboards are amongst the best engines in the world, I've run them for years {without any problems} and I was about to buy another one, until I came across the comments and concerns of folks on the www regarding problems with the rigorous {make the dealer rich} service schedules and the warranties that could end up not being worth the paper they are written on... I was concerned enough to write to Glen Coppock, Customer Services Executive, {you won't get any higher than Glen @}... (read more)

I was tod by Suzuki if the dealer motor was purchased from has to be serviced by anyone else to maintain records of everything done and when and why and I would be alright. I did not want anything to do with the dealer I bought the boat and motor from (new) and refuse to deal with him ever again, so the reason for my call to Suzuki about service. I've only had the oil changed and that is the only service I've needed on my excellent Suzuki 175 since purchasing 3 years ago. I change oil every season or hours whichever come first. I suggest asking Suzuki just what I did about who services as anyons can order genuine Suzuki parts, just keep a record trail.
