“Personal Service”

★★★★★

written by on 29/03/2015

I received a warm friendly service throughout my checkup and subsequent fitting. The Glasshouse is a small shop, full of the old Ledbury character. I made an appointment to check my eyesight in part because I was due for a test but also because experiencing problems. I usually struggle with appointments as i do not normally arrive home until after the shops have shut. However, I found the Glasshouse to be very accommodating by arranging an after hours appointment. After a thorough examination, I was surprised to be informed that it was not my eyes that had deteriorated but my lenses or rather the coating on my lenses. My old spectacles were checked over in order to select the most appropriate set to use whilst my frames were away having the new lenses fitted. This took about 1 week and i was able to collect and have the fit checked and adjusted after hours again. So, one new set of lenses later and my vision is back to normal again. Well done Glasshouse for a personal service tailored to my needs. It is not everyday that you can say that!

The glass house ledury (a new company) have been excellent in correcting my visual imperfections no trouble is spared in doing what is best for you, your treated like a VIP and I reccomend whole heartedly their expertise. being diabetic I realise how important my eye care is and wouldnt go anywhere else. this is a seperate company with no connection with the previous business run from the same premises which ceased to exist several years ago. i'd go no where else locally and find the professionalism and customer care shown to the same level that I have experienced here Thank you for your care.

I am writing this review in the hopes of preventing these opticians from continuing behaving as they do!There are a large amount of customers who have had problems. My husband and several customers stood outside when the shop should have been open for problems( or appointments which had been made.)All had issues My husbands problems have been ongoing for three months. At the moment my husband is out of pocket for £148.00.This amount was refunded(as stated by the daughter who actually phoned to say this) What a surprise it still has not appeared on the credit card-13 days later. The lies never stop:the glasses arrived but the daughter stood on both pairs and broke them, next she also claimed she had incorrectly ordered them on the internet, then they were coming by courier(on several different occasions)When they did arrive they were not my husbands glasses. There is a far more serious side to this.During the eye test it was found that my husband could be suffering from Glaucoma, this the optician said would be reported to his doctor-this was not done. When I asked about this I was told that the eye hospital had been advised-not true.I really had to pursue this to get them to report the problem to the eye hospital. He now has an appointment. The pair of reading glasses which my husband actually received are incorrect -confirmed by another optician-he can only see to read with one eye at a time (with the other eye closed and the reading matter held at different distances for each eye) I also have been unable to obtain my husbands prescription-it was supposed to be posted. I feel disgusted as I recommended my husband to go there as I previously had an eye test and only had to wait rather a long time to receive my glasses. I hope other people read this review.

We also had problems - seven weeks and no glasses! An issue with the courier, apparently! Yeah, right. Ended up going to D&A instead. Should be ashamed, trying to palm off members of our own small town with such poor service and lies...... no wonder she resigned from the local council! The 'business' appears to have closed, as of Feb14......

I had my free eye test done at L Fieldhouse Eyecare, Ledbury, roughly 3 months ago. My previous experience with the resident optician (at his previous location) was that he is a very good optician. Since he set up independently in the town I have tried to be a loyal customer. But since my test I have seen neither hide nor hair of the optician and have dealt entirely with the shop manager, his daughter, in whose name the business is set up, and therein lies the problem. Initially the range of glasses was very limited but she assured my they were getting in new styles very soon, probably next week. I went in 10 days later but they had not yet arrived. Two weeks passed, then three weeks, and each time I visited the shop there was some reason why the glasses weren't yet available. I wanted to support them because they were local and just starting up, so gave it a break for a few weeks. She promised to ring me when they were in. I didn't hear anything, but about 2 months after my eye test I went in again and they did at last have a much more inspiring range to choose from. I ordered two very nice pairs at a good price, and she promised to ring me when they were ready to collect. After leaving it for another couple of weeks after ordering the glasses, I have dropped in twice a week. During that time she has promised to ring me on numerous occasions and never done so. She told me they were delayed because one of the styles was out of stock. She has assured me they would be in the shop the following day more than once. She has promised to deliver them to my house. She has acted surprised and asked 'Have you not received them yet?' because her assistant was going to drop them in to my house. She has stated that my glasses were with her father twice, with her assistant once, and just 'not here' several times. The day before my final visit to the shop, I spoke with her on the phone and she assured me that the glasses would be ready for me to collect the next day. I said I would come in at around mid-day to pick them up and if they weren't there I would go elsewhere. She promised to ring me at 9.30 when the shop opened to confirm that they were there and again assured me that there would be no problem. The next day I heard nothing. I went in at 1pm to be told that they were with her Dad. She volunteered to give me a copy of my prescription 'so you don't have to get your eyes retested'. I waited for about 5 minutes while she rummaged noisily in the shop and out in the back room. When she returned she said that it must be with the glasses. I can only conclude that the glasses don't actually exist anywhere, and never have done. She has never offered any apology for anything, merely one excuse after another. I think she has actually lied to me on numerous occasions. Since giving up, I have been met with knowing looks and and shaking heads when I tell my weary tale, and many people have said they have heard similar stories. I feel a complete fool for allowing myself to be strung along, but couldn't believe that anyone in their right mind would treat customers like this without good reason, so gave her the benefit of the doubt. I have been led a merry dance for 3 months. It has been like the Monty Python cheese sketch, but less funny.

I had a very similar experience trying to get glasses for my four year old son. We waited 6 weeks before giving up and going elsewhere. She kept telling me they'd be in the next day and when I'd go to collect them the shop would be shut up. I was told the glasses came in with the wrong frames, the wrong lenses and finally that they'd been given to the wrong child! When I asked for the prescription back she said she would drop it through my letter box on several occasions. That didn't happen. When I went into the shop to demand it back she went out to the back room and rummaged around just like you said had with you and then told me she'd lost it. My poor son had to start school wearing his old glasses with the wrong prescription in. I had to get a new prescription issued from the hospital and took that to boots and they were ready within a week. I made a complaint to nhs England but haven't heard anything from them yet.
