This store advertises sales and discounts all over the place. BUT. There is a tiny sticker on the sales desk that says (to paraphrase as I haven't the exact words in memory) that the 'discount' prices are based on prices that have been displayed in the LARGEST Sports direct stores in Britain. They need only have been displayed at these prices for 28 consecutive days (I believe - if not this amount then it is not far off).
So basically: I go into the store in Inverness, buy something that is marked '70% off', but really this item may have at one time been 70% more expensive in a major store such as Glasgow or Manchester...and it may only have been advertised and sold at that price for a mere month. After which, they can reduce the price in the major store and claim that they are having a 'closing down sale' as they do in Inverness (what, with all their brand new stock being constantly replenished), and lie to you about the prices and their alleged discounts. Just to get you in the door.
Why does such a place feel they need to lie just to get customers. Sickening practice in my book.
