My younger nephew of 10 Year's Old bought a Urban Culture UCX2 BMX bike from (Scotcast Coatbridge Bikes) £200 And He Tried turning right and it went left , The handlebars separated from the bike forks !!! He Fell Off It , Not Built Correctly Or Safely , It Lay In The Garage Then I took It Back And Inside Scotcast Bikes They Insisted In The - Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme It's Funded by the Scottish Government and delivered through Cycling UK and participating retailers, the Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme provides free bike repair and maintenance work up to a value of £50. I was Told The Worn Parts Would Be Replaced And When I Collected The Bike There Was - No New Brake's Or Cables No New Parts Nothing !! A Wast Of Time. The Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme Funded By The Government £50 Each Bike For No Work Completed ! Make Sure You Wear A Helmet If You Have A Bike From Here.

“Excellent customer service, and brilliant bikes!”

★★★★★

written by EmmaF75 on 07/06/2020

Juicy Bikes have been absolutely fantastic both before and after purchasing my gorgeous classic click, with exemplary customer service, and a speedy response to any questions (and there have been lots - sorry customer support!) I've had. I've cycled to work for the last fifteen years - only a four mile round trip, but a hip condition is making it increasingly difficult for me to tackle the rather steep and lengthy hill on my journey home, meaning I've had to push my bike for the last mile. This bike is a game changer for any one with a physical disability that makes using a regular bike difficult. My commute home has gone from half an hour to ten minutes, and my hip pain has already reduced after just a month of riding this bike. The hill is no longer a problem and I can zoom up it quite happily in the low-to mid PAS levels. I know of at least two people who have seen my bike and are planning on purchasing their own in the coming months, so I expect to see more Juicy Bikes on the roads of Northampton soon. I hope my bike will last a good few years, but when the time comes to buy a new ebike, I won't hesitate to buy from Juicy Bikes.

“Juicy Bikes Compact Plus Folding Electric Bike”

★★★★★

written by SydMaddicott on 29/04/2020

Very happy with two bikes purchased a month ago. Delivered next day, easy to set up and very satisfactory to ride. Have been out on mine every day. There are lighter folding electric bikes on the market and ones that fold more compactly but they are considerably more expensive. These bikes are a good combination of price and capability. The company is very responsive to queries.

“Lovely well-made bike”

★★★★★

written by HelenBL on 31/03/2020

I have had my Compact Click for over a year now and am very pleased with it. I have arthritis in my hips and am finding my regular bike difficult these days. I cycle to work on my Juicy bike and it folds up neatly to stash in our gallery's tiny kitchen. It also gets me up a few challenging hills without effort. In duck egg blue it is also a thing of beauty! The company have been great, and quickly replaced a mudguard which got broken in transit. The bike is very solid and well made and was a fantastic Special birthday present!

“Better than expected”

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 10 years ago. I was a keen cyclist, but have gradually done less over the years. This bike is superb. It has made cycling fun again, and I use it instead of the car. I love the fact that it looks like a normal bike. Definitely recommend.

“Juicy Sport click Bike - From M8 Cycles Coatbridge”

★★★★☆

written by Photodom2000 on 17/09/2019

I have had my new Juicy Sport Click now for just over 2 weeks and have been using it on an almost daily basis. Quick Bio. I am 61, have an ordinary bike but never used it that often as hills were literally a pain even in the lowest gear. My friend owns M8 Cycles in Coatbridge (also known as Scotcast,) and I had a test run on a few of the Juicy bikes that they had in stock. The Sport click wasn't my immediate choice as I wasn't to sure about the lower mid bar, thinking it looked a little bit 'feminine.' However after trying it I was won over by its ease of use and the kick it gave you when under battery power, plus you don't necessarily ride a bike for it's looks. I have also seen other people riding the bike and it looks fine. I upgraded to the 60 mile battery as I didn't want to be charging every day, especially as it is recommended that you only allow it to get to 50% charge before re-charging. This would only really give you 10 miles on the std. battery. I haven't had any power issues as yet and don't expect to. The bike is heavy, much heavier that a standard mountain bike. It is well made and put together. You do however need to completely remove the seat post to take out the battery for charging. On their Youtube channel, Juicy show the seat being tilted up to remove the battery but this isn't the case. Not a big issue as you can also charge the battery without removing it if you can get close enough to a socket. When I removed the battery for the first time the seat post came out in one piece as you would expect, but when I went to remove it again to replace the battery, the seat 'fell apart,' as I removed the post. The outer metal casing fell into the frame together with the spring and I was left with the leather seat and a white plastic polycarbonate inner post. I tried to put them back together again without success. There is a male thread at the top of the outer seat post just below where the rubber 'concertina' section sits below the seat. There appears to be a female threaded connection at the bottom of the rubber concertina section that I imagine should be screwed into the male thread on the post, but this was unconnected and I am wondering if that has something to do with the seat post etc. coming apart. The seat was replaced next day by M8 so again not a major issue, just some QC needed at the manufacturer. Replacement seat is fine. I also noticed that when you remove the battery,it can also easily hit the the seat post locking mechanism knocking it off the tube that takes the seat. This happened on at least 2 occasions but I am now aware of this I make sure to be a little more careful. You also need to make sure that the battery is fully engaged in the slide rail when replacing it as the locking bolt will not engage if it is not. The bike has 6 gears, but there are occasions when I feel that at least one other and possibly two other gears would be useful. It also has 3 levels of assistance and I have found that for most of my cycling, level 2 is a good balance. Level 1 needs more effort from yourself and Level 3 is a bit of a breeze. If you want to feel the benefit in your legs, then stick to level 1 or 2. There is also a twist grip throttle, which I was under the impression was for the 'walk me home' function. Eh!, no. This throttle can easily get you upto around 10+ miles an hour on the flat. The walk me home function I discovered, needs you to press and hold the 'minus (-)' key on the controller to get the bike moving under electric power at walking pace (not something I've ever needed to do.) The suspension is good and is very noticeable after riding a mountain bike without any. The lowest seat position is just about right for me. I am 5" 10" with a 31" inside leg and my toes can just touch the ground, so if your legs are any shorter it may not be the bike for you. The moveable/adjustable handlebars should not be overlooked as they can be configured to give you exactly the right position for your height and riding style. I have a bad back so mine are fairly high so I don't need to bend so much, but they can be dropped if you like a more lean into the wind style. It says on the Juicy website that it comes in 3 great colours but there are in fact only 2 available from the drop down menu. Mine is 'River' which is a turquiose/green colour with 'Heath' being more a Pink colour. I have only used the headlight once, and to be honest it's main use probably more so that people can see you, as although you can see the beams in front of you, it does not illuminate all that well. Perhaps I am totally spoiled by car headlights, but I would only ride the bike at night on well lit roads. Minor point though. All in all a good bike. Sturdy. Well put together (faulty seat apart,) robust enough for years of use and easy to ride with it's wide tyres gripping the road like limpets even on the night I had a 3 mile ride home in appalling weather. Front brakes judder a wee bit when applied hard but this might be me not being used to front suspension on a bike. Not a big deal. Battery seems good and the twist grip throttle is 'surprising' in the speed it can get you up to. There is an LCD upgraded controller available that allows you more options and some additional control over the battery and motor use, but until I explore the limits of the one supplied, I'll leave that hanging. My bike came fully put together by M8 Cycles and as the manual is a bit sparse on assembly instructions, if you have a retailer near you get it from them. It costs the same as buying direct and you get the comfort of some retail backup (e.g. seat.) Thanks to all the team at M8 Cycles in Coatbridge for their help in letting me 'play' on the bikes and get a feel for them. If you need a bike in Central Scotland, get it from them. You will get personal service.

“After 12 months”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MistyM on 13/06/2019

Unfortunately, I have had a very negative experience with this bike. I’ve taken it in a few times for electric issues. Once it was going quite slow and the light wasn’t working. 4 weeks later I got my bike back, but that was 4 weeks I had to pay for transport. Next time, it was that my battery kept running out on me after 7.5 miles. Took it in, got it back 4 weeks later saying to bring it back if I still notice it. Finally, I’m on a hill and it just completely gives up. Full battery, but motor is completely gone. Will probably be anothe 4 weeks of paying for transport :( I’m so disappointed as it has really ruined the joy of having my first electric bike, it’s not reliable, and frankly, I’ll be selling it after this bit gets fixed as I can’t afford such an unreliable mode of transportation. Sorry.

Hello,
You did contact us by email to confirm your bike is still in warranty and we're pleased to say it is, with 2 weeks remaining. We have arranged for our nearest stockist to take a look for you - the same one that helped fix your bike when it fell from the back of your car, if you recall.
They are very experienced with our bikes and should be able to make any adjustment or repair straight away. It may be just a very simple service, but sometimes a part can be required and that can take a little time - a new battery for instance can take a week for us to check and then replace.

Let's hope all that is needed is a squirt of oil onto a brake switch (which is designed to cut all power to the motor, much as you describe).

We do also provide a Free Service for all the bikes we sell and a regular yearly service is just £35. There is also plenty of helpful articles and tips at our website to help all customers keep their bikes in perfect working order.

We're sorry you feel disappointed as we pride ourselves on the reliability of our bikes and the service we provide. We understand the impact of any issue, especially when the bike is a sole form of transport and we promise to make your issue our priority.
Having spoken with our stockist in Sutton Coldfield we understand that you have previously taken your bike there for insurance repairs after it fell from your car whilst driving. That could well have caused some hidden issues, but we will do our best to resolve and get you back on the road again.

I think perhaps in the light of that accident you had, and the efforts we went to help you resolve all the damage that incident caused, you might have posted a fuller and more informative account of the service we have provided you in the past.

A small family business such as ours does rely on feedback such as yours being as comprehensive as possible, to honestly inform other potential customers.

Best regards, Juicy Bikes

Hi there, I will say I appreciate how quickly I got the bike back this time. I purposely didn’t bring up the accident because that wasn’t related to the repairs from my accident (in which I went over the handlebars when the front tyre came off.). I hate to leave a bad review, especially on a small business but I can’t emphasise enough that this particular bike has been an absolute terror for me. Not saying all your bikes are like this. From the first 4 weeks I owned it, there have constantly been issues. For example, the quick release tyre came off more than once prior to the accident, this hasn’t been an issue since I replaced it with a new mechanism that I purchased separately. Just a month ago, I went to lift the battery out as I always do (trust me, I’m not the Hulk here) and the handle on the battery literally snapped. It’s just not been a nice experience and that’s my honest opinion.

“Appalling! No contact, no bikes”

Paid in full for two bikes in November and told two months. No contact and no bikes after 4 months, just my money! Terrible customer service, would never recommend you use them.

Bobwales's Response to Campervangirl's Review

Written on: 09/03/2019

Hi Campervangirl
We have one customer who did leave a deposit to reserve two of our Roller bikes in November and we then believed the bikes would be ready at the end of January.

I'm sorry that we have had such a long delay with getting these bikes out of our new factory in Portugal, in time. They are expected at the end of March and (if we have identified you correctly) yours will be the first to be delivered.

Your deposit is always refundable, for any reason at all - it is merely a token of intention and we would never ask for full payment in advance and always refund if you change your mind.

You are quite right that this situation for you has been terrible and we have only just noticed your concern - Please do try to contact us directly for updates as we do not monitor this review website.

Please trust that we are as frustrated as yourself by the delays we've experienced with the move to the new Portuguese plant. We know the wait will be worth it - the new facilities are exceptional and the quality improvement is a step-change for us. But it has cost us your faith in this instance and we are really sorry to hear that.

Please accept our sincere apologies for not keeping you completely updated.

“Best Buy Ever!”

written by SJacob on 18/07/2018

Just brought my first Juicy bike a few weeks ago and love it already. Very comfortable and easy to use and an excellent way to get back into cycling after many, lazy years. The service from the Ashbourne store was excellent and the free upgrade to a 10AH battery an unexpected but lovely surprise. Thank You.

“Wow- fantastic!!”

written by Dawsok on 25/06/2018

I purchased a Classic Juicy Bike 4 days ago. I’ve used it everyday since and I am absolutely delighted! The bike is lovely to look at and lovely to ride. I can now effortlessly tackle hills which before would have horrified me! This bike is truly transformational for me- enabling me to keep up with my very capable cycling partner, for the first time ever. This means we can now enjoy cycling together!! The two guys I dealt with  at the Ashbourne store were both really helpful and informative. I took the bike on a test ride in the morning, decided to buy it, and one of the guys had my shiny new bike all built and ready for collection at 3pm the same afternoon- fantastic service! Many thanks to you both,

“Very happy customer!”

written by Lesleysmith20 on 23/05/2018

After doing a lot of research I found myself always coming back to Juicy Bikes. After a couple of phone calls I decided to visit the Ashbourne centre. Seemed like a good opportunity to try out the bikes and possibly do some cycling. Great place. Was able to try out the bikes I had been interested in got some great advice. Settled on the Juicy Click foldaway. Love it! Service was excellent, bike was built in an hour, allowing me time to mooch around Ashbourne and then take it for a trial along the Tissington Trail. Great to ride, both with and without assist. I chose a folding model for several reasons. Firstly the compact size, as I'm fairly short, but also for ease of storage at home and being able to take it in the car. Brilliant on all counts and so beautifully crafted! The only TINY negative is that it is quite heavy to lift in and out of the car, but I had been aware of that and its certainly not a deal breaker- and most of the time I will just be cycling from home. I can't wait to be using it even more when I retire in the autumn. A brilliant purchase which has reignited my love of cycling! Thank you!

“Very enjoyable to ride, brilliant up hills.”

★★★★★

written by DSWhiting on 11/05/2018

We have had folding bikes for some years, making them easy to transport on our caravan holidays. I was finding cycling on anywhere other than totally flat routes increasingly difficult due to slightly arthritic knees, so last year I started to look for an electric folder. Having tried and rejected two models from local shops, I was pleased to find Juicy relatively near my home in Yorkshire, and that were very happy to offer a test ride. I was able to ride around New Mills, and was totally happy with the power up hills and the overall design, so I bought a Compact Plus folder. I decided to go for one level up in battery power, quoted at 24 miles. I love riding the bike but I feel that I should probably have spent more and had a more powerful battery. It is pretty hilly where I live, and while it is great to be able to cycle locally again, my journeys are limited to around 16 miles. I am hoping soon to try charging the battery over lunch at a pub in order to do a longer ride. I found on my first few rides that the battery level indicator on the handlebar was very distracting, constantly going up and down according to the demand at each point, and I eventually taped it over, so now I just stop occasionally and press the button on the battery to see the actual level. Having said that I am getting used to the range, and so I am able to really enjoy the brilliant power that enables me to ride up hills I haven't been able to tackle for 10 years, and even then they were tough. By the way I am 74, and look forward to many more years riding with Juicy.

“Juicy Bike - What A Great Outfit To Deal With”

★★★★★

written by Simmo1959 on 21/01/2018

After deliberating for some time I finally made up my mind to get an electric bike and found Juicy Bikes very close to where I live in the Peak District so decided to pay them a visit after various emails about different bikes and the numerous options available. Nothing was too much trouble, every email was responded to quickly by the team at New Mills and testing out the bikes was arranged without any problems and on more than just one visit as I wanted to be sure before spending what is a lot of money. They gave me lots of useful and helpful advice, what to look for when making comparisons with other manufacturers so that an informed decision cold be made which I did and went with the Juicy Sport rather than the Roller as it simply felt more comfortable when I rode them both. Nothing has been too much trouble and the whole experience apart from me parting with my money has been really enjoyable and I can definitely recommend Juicy Bike as a real pleasure to deal with.

“Beautiful but expensive”

★★★★☆

written by Barnes275 on 29/09/2017

It is a very fine bike, but when I bought it, it was over £300 more expensive, so obviously I'm a bit cheesed off. It is worth noting that electric bikes can be very heavy. Mine is. It is the Dutch Classic. I think if I had the chance again, I might go for a folding one or at least a lighter one.

We're really sorry you don't seem very happy with your bike. We do our very best to keep our prices as low as we can and to make our bikes as light as possible.
There are lighter bikes available - our own Roller is particularly light, but comes with a higher price to reflect how difficult it is to reduce the weight.

If you would like to change for another bike in our range please do let us know. Just contact us directly and we'll be very happy to help in any way we can. And if you'd prefer a refund just let us know. We simply want you to enjoy the bike! Do please get in contact.
Kind regards

We purchased 2 Classic juicey bikes last month and They have everything you would want in a electric bike ! We bought the biggest battery (60 miles) and have been thrilled with the power it gives you and you can still ride it as a normal bike without using the power so saving more miles ! Easy to charge ! My wife is over the moon with her French blue classic model I have already recommended the bike to friends who are looking into buying them, Although it is a small company they have been extremely helpful in any information I wanted we highly recommend juicey bikes and the Bike shop EC Bates in Dartford Kent he was very knowledgeable and helpful ! France with our camper here we come no more problems on hills on these bikes

“Terrible customer service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/07/2017

Ordered the bike with no problem .Date of delivery arrived and I waited in all day for delivery which never arrived. Company very apologetic and offered a very acceptable resolution . This was a refund for the basket I had bought with the bike and delivery to my local store for them to put together . A very reasonable offer . However nearly over 2 weeks later the bike was delivered only to be scratched . I was shown the scratch and wasn't happy to accept the bike without an appropriate discount . Juicy bike phoned me and initially offered my a tin of touch up paint which I declined . This was followed by £10 discount . Again declined and told them I dont want the bike . I was then told that i would be responsible for the cost of returning the damage bike . Eventually it was agreed that the company would collect the bike at no cost to my with a full refund . However a "full" refund ended up being minus the "good will gesture " cost of the baskets .

We're all really sorry we couldn't supply you the bike you wanted, though we did try very hard. Normally TNT provide us with an excellent service.

We did refund in full as a replacement bike in your colour choice wasn't available for 6 weeks and we accepted the cost of delivery and assembly at your local bike shop.

Hopefully you will now be able to use your Cycle To Work voucher elsewhere and find the perfect bike to enjoy cycling again. We're just so sorry it couldn't work out with us and wish you the very best for the future.

I have tried to justify buying an ebike for several months I enjoy cycling but as the years progress the hills became steeper therefore outings became less frequent I have now had a Juicy Roller for 5 days and been out every day Soon finding that by using the gears I rely less on the power assistance but it is great to know that help is there when needed Excellent service from the Ashbourne showroom The bike is more expensive than some but the quality and performance excels

The whole process of purchasing this bike was a obsolete pleasure. I was lucky enough to ride the bike at the xcel bike show early in the year. Having got to ride a few Ebikes at the show the juicy bike I felt had a far better smoother ride, when compared to the others , it may be just that the juicy bike was similar to my non Ebike so felt more comfortable to me. Ordering and delivery was great, as i am in Essex the bike went to the bike shop in Dartford to be put together, the guys here were very helpful. I have had a bike over a month now I have found that riding so much more enjoyable and has help out the knees with hills, I now can cycle with out feeling totally washed out, I do still feel I have had a good work out but now feel I can do more as you can use the added power as and when required which it great.

Those with throttles can, legally up to 4 mph only (which is of little help to someone like you). The throttle can be de-restricted to allow full-speed (15 mph) use, but you need to know this is not legal in the UK. De-restriction or re-restriction takes less than 5 secs and requires no tools. Hope this helps!
