I went to buy a cheap beanie type hat in the Colchesster store (just something cheap for running - I would have no need to buy anything else there in future). Found one I thought was cheap enough (£2.95). Went to check out & told £16+ but I think she said something like £6 if I pay £5 odd for a year's discount card! No way. The check out assistant said I should have been told about the card when I entered the shop - I was not (just "good afternoon"). I queried the price without the discount card and the check out assistant came with me to the display rail - the hats were all on the wrong rail apparently. I thought there was little surprise on her aprt, and I suspect this is their normal trading practise. Needless to say I will not be back - except perhaps to look prior to an internet purchase with somebody else!
