“Waste of time and money”

I popped in to Waterloo east shop, which is near my work, as I had tried to fit my new brake pads but I'm not great at this kind of thing, and asked how much it would be for my brakes to bo fixed. I spoke to a very nice friendly and helpful guy, who told me that the best value for money would be to have a silver service as they currently had a 20% off offer. This was a Wednesday, and Billy (the nice guy) booked my bike in for Friday, telling me that if I dropped it off on Thursday evening, I would be able to pick it up on the Friday evening.
By Sunday, I had heard nothing, so I popped into the shop. The bike had not even been looked at. No apology; the people at the till seemed very clueless as to why the bike hadn't been seen, and even more clueless as to why I was a bit grumpy about this. Anyway, they assured me my bike would be seen the next day and I could have it on Monday evening. I popped in on Monday evening, not very hopeful as I had not recieved a phone call regarding costs. My bike had been taken to the work shop, but returned to the shop; nothing had been done to it. I use my bike to cycle to work rain or shine, and I was spending £ 7.50 a day commuting without it. Again, not much of an apology, but my bike was rebooked and a discount was talked of. I recieved a phone call on the Wednesday, and On the Thursday I went to pick up my bike. I couldn't take it because they had replaced the cassette, but it hadn't been put on properly. A professional cycle repair shop had sent back a bike without putting the parts back on properly. I finally got my bike back on the Saturday evening.
If the problems had ended there, I wouldn't be bothered writing this, but the service was shoddy. The back wheel didn't go round properly as it rubbed against the brake pads, which despite being brand new were worn away. The brake grip handles need to be pushed back into place after I have squeezed them; the peddles didn't feel tight. The gear changing is clunky. In short, the worst service I've ever had on any bike. All these problems didn't come to light until a few days later, as I took my bike back on the train due to heavy snow. I know I should have taken it back and complained, but I couldn't face the inept staff again, and I had no energy left. My bike came back in a worse state thatn when I put it in, and I am down on money because of the train journeys/ bus journeys I made when I was without bike, the cost of the shoddy service and the money I will pay to a professional to fix it. On a positive note, I did get the service reduced to half the agreed price because of the mix ups, but I would have preferred to pay full price and hot the job done poperly.
