Having had to wait months for a diagnosis of an illness with months of anxiety not knowing the cause I was keen not to be in that position again. I couldn't afford to take out full cover but at least I could afford a diagnostic health plan. I explained to the sales person what I required and that is what I got. Just started 3 year of cover through UASY and changed provider. Health insurance provided by BUPA was part of my employment package, then my employer gave the option to opt out or continue self funded. Two years ago I requested a quote from USAY who provided nearly the same cover with BUPA at a lower cost. However, that cover included items that I considered unnecessary, like private wards. I raise that with USAY on renewal and now have a policy at 1/2 the cost meeting my needs. Pat (read more)

The staff were very knowledgable but the process was problematic and involved considerable hassle on my part. They suceeded in finding cheaper alternatives but it was only after commiting to a company that it was possible to find the detailed level of cover which in my case was much worse than my current insurer. Geographically limited policies are great until you need treatment at a more specialist hospital outside your location with a top specialist that could be the difference between walking again or spending life in a wheelchair as it was in my own personal experience!
