After getting yet more junk mail prompting me to switch my (sizable) credit card balance I realised I better sort it out. The dreaded standard APR loomed like the grim reaper over my finances, but I had no idea whether what they are offering me was actually any good.
As with so my things I got online. The top spot with Google was this website (CompareandSave.com) and it didn't disappoint. It's amazing what just a little shopping around can do in terms of saving you money. I've always been loyal to my building society, but you need to mix and match financial service provider to get the best deals. For instance, Barclaycard were offering 50% off their balance transfer fees - making them about 1.5% which is amazing (probably the cheapest money you'll ever get!).
