I had been searching for a clinic able to perform refractive eye surgery as my prescription is too bad for normal laser treatment. Having contacted a website which promised to compare all the clinics and prices in my area for my particular needs I gave them all the details of my problem, prescription, need for local surgery (not miles away in London). Within a minute my mobile phone rang and they said they had arranged a free consultation for me at Optical Express. I questioned if they had compared clinics and they said yes. After two more 'reminder' sales calls from them, including one late in the evening to check I would not cancel I went to the local Optical Express for my appointment, having kept my lenses out for a week at some inconvenience to myself. On arrival the OE consultant told me she had no notes as to who I was (just a name), what I wanted, what my prescription and needs were. I told her these and she informed me the only clinics that could do the work would be London or Manchester, both c100 miles plus from my home.
