bought a Kustom Defender 5H n wanted to tame it gain wise. I ordered el844 from Karltone and queried whether this would do the job. I recieved a phone call from Karl who advised against the el844 (which i decided was the best option as suggested on a couple of amp forums) and he gave a good explanation why these would not noticably change the gain. Recently I accidently ordered EL84 valves instead of EL34's from Karltone. When I called them to explain my mistake,they were very helpful and dispatched the correct ones to me the next day.I only had to cover the differnce in price and the postage. I of course returned the ones incorrectly ordered which were still in original packing. I would certainly recommend Karltone as a supplier.The prices are good and components top quality. (read more)

I recently bought a quad set of matched JJ EL84 valves for my Ashdown LB30 bass amp. They have given more overall clarity to the sound, and a deeper and tighter bass. Top end is lovely and sweet. So far no downsides, but it will be interesting to hear if & how their tonality changes as they settle in. The original Ruby valves are now my spares. Maybe a recent new-comer when compared to some valve suppliers, but Karltone is without doubt doing it right from square one. His testing is impeccable, unlike some who claim to do it, but sadly are most times 10% plus out of whack in any match pair / quad.
