I bought a Lazyboy Kansas 3 piece suite in June 2011. In March 2014 two seams stared to split open in one of the chairs. It took 6 months to get this repaired under the Guardsman policy issued by SCS. Before this repair could take place the same happened with the second chair and another 6 months wait for this to be repaired. Disheartened, I obtained an independent report on the suite which stated that there was a tanning/manufacturing issue which appears to be spreading with time and continued use.
With this information I contacted SCS Head Office in November 2014 and since then had two conversations with the gentleman supposedly dealing with my query. He informed me that the problem had been passed to the manufacturer, and ignored my comments that the onus was on SCS to investigate. When I mentioned the Inspection Report, his comment was "that's only your opinion".
Since my last conversation, I have left two voicemail messages, but he has not made any contact. My final letter of 22nd April informed that I would contact the Furniture Ombudsman. Unfortunately he cannot help as SCS are not TFO members.
So my only hope of getting any redress is Court action which I cannot afford, so I will make my voice heard in anyway possible to let people know that SCS is a shoddy company to deal with.
