No Customer service

We visited the Colchester store to seek advice on mattresses for some shorty beds we had purchased from Tesco direct.
We wanted to make sure they were the correct size and of good quality for our grandchildren.
After talking to the shop assistant he sold us two mattresses at £79 & £89. on completion of sale said "if for any reason they are not correct we will exchange or refund".
After all these staff are trained, right?
The mattresses were the wrong size, too long!
On returning to the shop two days later and making a call we got told straight away we cant help you here, you need to talk to customer service...Why?
I bought them from Colchester in this shop!
I got told Mattressman do not do refunds, read your terms on the back of your invoice.

This was before a I am very sorry they are wrong sir, how can we help!
I had a call today from their customer service saying that I never got any advice and was not told I could return or exchange these items if wrong, not great being told your a liar by a young lady on the end of the phone.
They have agreed to take them back with £30 fee to pick them up.
This is wrong as we took advise and have been sent the wrong product to do the job.
I offered to take them back still fully wrapped to the store in Colchester where we had bought them, got told NO.
All returns have to go to Norwich at our expense and that the stores are only there to view and take money.
It is my advise that if you can shop at another store who offer customer service and look after customers do it!
Unless you are 100% certain you are buying a product in the right size, colour, and is never going to give you a problem, use them if not, shop in a store with a good reputation.
They operate as an online company and take this approach when buying from their retail stores.
They take no responsibility when offering advice, its on your head if its wrong.
