I hope any potential customer can be saved the nightmare of dealing with this company. It’s truly a shame as the products are decent, as others have mentioned. However, the customer service team does nothing at all to help, you’ll be left with no refund no contact whatsoever. I have 4 items that looks like I will never be refunded for, all of which are the errors of MDM. However I will be taking a different approach to spread awareness, to allow me to feel I’m getting something back by helping others. I’ve recorded all conversations which I will be posting on my YouTube channel. It will clearly show anyone who is thinking to spend money not to.

“10 months to get a partial refund”

Worst company I have ever dealt with. It’s taken me 10 months to get a partial refund. They ignore all emails, even when escalated to the CEO, they ignore requests for a call back, and when you do get hold of them, don’t call back when they commit to. Only way to try and contact them is via phone to France and that costs a fortune. Their IVR is misleading and sends you to the wrong team, when provided of a new number to call, it turns out to be the same number you’ve just dialled. Their conduct, professionalism and courtesy is nothing short of embarrassing with complete disregard for their customers.

“Catastrophic customer service”

Never see this in my life. The wrong items where delivered. I tried hard through their website, by email, by phone, to get them to react...nothing, utter silence. I am left with products I never wanted and paid for!! Meanwhile, I didn't get the ones I wanted... Unacceptable.

“Truly awful, furniture for landfill”

We bought a £750 sofa bed from Maisons Du Monde just over two years ago. Within months of light use the sofa bed base had collapsed, in just over two years the whole sofa collapsed. As the sofa was just out of warranty when it finally completely broke, the company did not offer any assistance. The quality of furniture is inexcusably poor and the customer service is non-existent, I was told to go ahead and write negative reviews, they weren’t willing to offer any assistance. I’m writing this review so that hopefully others will avoid buying a sofa that lasts a pitiful two year period before heading off to landfill.

“Terrible customer service and very late delivery”

Terrible service, don't order with them! My order arrived 3 weeks late with no communications at all - I rang to complain and noone ever followed up. I then got a call from a random courier and waited in for a day for delivery and then they eventually turned up 4 days later. I had to keep ringing them to find out information...if you are aware of a problem with your delivery company, an email to your customers should be the bare minimum. And then you have to fight for any compensation - crazy customer service.

Do not buy anything from this rubbish company: Placing an order was a horrible experience, chasing up non arrival of the order was a horrible experience. They think they sell 'bespoke' products because they're overpriced but in reality its a bunch of clueless idiots reading off a script. If you're buying for Christmas or for a baby then forget it because these clowns will ruin it.

“Dreadful experience”

Appalling customer service. Spent over 40 minutes trying to get through on the phone and just kept being disconnected. They charge completely different prices on the French website than the UK and were unable to explain why on the fabulous little pop up box on the French site who merely repeated "call customer service". Bunch of numpties.

“Trash and service to match!”

We bought the Camberra Parasol two years ago and the paper thin parasol cover disintegrated. Guess what? The do not sell replacements. The frame is in great condition but it will be heading to the trash €399 for two years use. You cannot even email them. We bought a suite from them too and it is disintegrating within 2 years. Their stuff looks great in the shop but it is cheaply made . Beware!

“could not get the table delivered so complete waste of...”

We ordered a large table three weeks ago but when it came to delivery the firm they use in the UK Guisnel was the worst I have every had. The men didn't come at the time indicated (which meant we ran back) and wanted me (alone) to take it out of the truck where they parked across a busy road (no crossing). I can only think they get paid whether or not the client takes possession as then when they came to look at the building they refused to bring the table up. They were also unpleasant well beyond UK norms and I would personally feel intimidated to have these men in my flat on my own. We have had the entire flat furnished with no one refusing to deliver or any unpleasant experiences. Maisonsdumonde was unable to offer an alternative supplier or any guarantee that the delivery company would bring it upstairs the next time so I had an alternative of waiting another day quite possibly for no reason or cancelling. Now we have to wait another month to get a table from another supplier.

“Lovely looking products but rubbish service ”

I took a day off work last week only to receive a text that morning to say my delivery was delayed. So took another day off this Monday - delivery came but when I opened the parcels - not my order!!! I was totally livid. Rang up MdM and the girl was reasonably helpful but god knows if I’ll ever get my order and it will mean yet another day off work. Last time I use them.

“Avoid this company!”

If I could put zero star I would... The customer service has been the worst I have ever dealt with - don't even know where to start: 1- the day my order (with 3 different items) was supposed to finally be dispatched, I have received a generic email saying it will be about 2 weeks delayed, no further explanation. 2- I called them to ask what was happening, the person I had on the phone didn't know anything about it, tried to call the warehouse but couldn't understand as they were speaking French (????) - so couldn't help me, cancel my order and organise a refund. However I never asked to have my order canceled over the phone. 3. I tried to contact via email, waited many days before to have an answer, which did not answer any of my questions but only said I will get a refund. 4. Tried to reply to this email bu as it is a generic email, you will always speak to someone different. So I finally gave up. 5. 3 weeks have passed and I haven't received my refund. I will never re-order from this place and I have adviced all my friends to do so. Really the worst experience I had shopping for my house.

Possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with. Terrible quality and awful customer service. I ordered a sofa in the summer and after only a month the springs in the back went. There was no quibble about replacing, but the same problem happened again. Afer many hours waiting on the phone I eventually managed to negotiate a very reluctant refund. They took almost 2 months to uplift the sofa and only after many, many reminders and requests from me. Two weeks after uplift I am still waiting for my refund. Customer service ranges from inefficient to downright rude. They take days and days to answer emails, and quite often the answers are out of date or don't make sense. Avoid this company!

Buying goods online in 2017 is a relatively painless exercise unless you deal with Maison Du Monde & their partners in crime, Gusinel, their so called carriers. Purchased goods over two weeks, paid in full and then silence!!!!Contacted Customer Service, they couldn't give any details on delivery and put in touch with Gusinel, their carrier. I experienced a combination of arrogance and ignorance. They only deliver to my postal area one day a week and only between 9 and 5. No other alternative days or times are available, in any week??!!. Finally I gave in cancelled and now await a full refund! Avoid at all costs. Don't say you weren't warned! Customer Service at an all time low 1

“Awful Products. Do not buy from here! Terrible quality!”

Worse quality than Ikea - cheap flatpack rubbish! Terrible customer service also. Poor design and flimsy product. Doors do not fit. The compensation offered was insulting. I am unable to return the product and was offered less then 10% of my money back for wobbly side board that doesn't even have doors that fit. Also customer service is based in France so my phone bill for calling customer service is not even covered by their shameful compensation offer. Steer well clear from this company!

I was a happy Maison's du Monde customer since my last purchase! This company is going down hill so my advice is stay away!!!! One of the parcels arrived, the other one still missing... Have called many times the customer service and the answer was always the same: "We'll check what's going on and call you back"... No calls back. After being waiting for answers they finally said my parcel was missed and they don't have one of the items I had purchase, which makes me believe they have never posted my items. Have asked to speak to a manager but the whole call centre only have 1 manager that was too busy to speak to me but will call me soon.... Are you guys serious??????

Bought a rug on the Black Friday sale £103:50 and when it arrived noticed a price in Euros that, at 89/90 Euros was much lower than what had been paid. When checking on the website found the rug to be the price I had paid at £103:50 and without any black Friday sale. Phoned the company and they said "they charge more for deliver to the UK" I remanded them that their website said free delivery and after checking he came back and said this was the case. If you are looking on their website, change the /UK/uk/ bit in the web address to /FR/fr/ and you will see for yourself that prices are much lower in Euros. The rug has been sent back.

The worst online shopping experience ever. I ordered a small dining table during a weekend. I never received any e-mail confirmation with an order number. I noticed on Monday that the money was deducted from my account. I then received a call from the carrier company in France on Monday to arrange the delivery. I arranged the delivery for Wednesday (the company only delivers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and immediately after the call I realised that I cannot take the delivery on Wednesday due to work commitments. I submitted a customer services request through the website but was never contacted. I called the customer services team the same day to re-arrange the delivery. I was told that I will be called back. It never happened. I called on Wednesday again. The phone was answered in German and the same thing happened - no call back. I called the French carrier number, no answer. I called again on Friday and was on the phone for 30 minutes. The customer service representative said that she managed to get hold of the carrier and agreed a change of the delivery date to Tuesday. On Monday the week after I get a voicemail message confirming delivery on Wednesday. The delivery was never re-arranged. I called the customer services again and explained that I cannot take the day off work and I will cancel the order unless they can re-arrange the deliver to Tuesday. The representative confirmed that the table will be delivered on Tuesday at 6 pm. I took a day's holiday to take the delivery. On Tuesday at 17.30 I received a phone call from the delivery driver saying that he cannot make the delivery on the day. Complete waste of my time (over an hour on the phone trying to re-arrange the delivery) and holiday. I have a busy job and last thing I need is shocking customer service. Next time I will order from John Lewis or House of Fraser who deliver in 3 days. In addition, the website states that the customer services team is available on Saturdays. This is untrue, the call centre is shut at the weekends.

“Scandynavian style chair”

Very disappointed. The chair what I ordered had a few scratches. Very pricy. I have seen similar chair on Amazon and was a half price. I didn't receive any invoice and I didn't know how to return it. I know I could call them but finally I decided to keep the chair but I wont order anything again from the company.

“Faulty goods and faulty service ”

Chair arrived damaged (discoloured fabric and leg hole drilled wrongly). Didn't open packaging until about 20 days after it arrived due to not moving daughter into her new room immediately. Tried to return it due to faults and this French based company refused. This breaks UK consumers law. I pointed this out, they basically said they didn't care. Be warned, don't used this company. I've learnt my lesson the hard way.

I am considering buying the CHYPRE acacia garden bench from this company but I am so concerned about the poor reviews re the quality of the furniture, the poor packaging and consequently smashed condition of some goods and the poor delivery service as I too, would have to take time off work to wait for a delivery. Can you offer me any assurances that their customer service and delivery services have improved?  Thank you
