Our wardrobes were booked to be fitted for Monday and Tuesday 1st and 2nd Dec. At 10am and with no show of a fitter we contacted Hammonds by which we were told that our fitter had 'quit' over the weekend so we had a rearranged date for the Thursday 4th.
Two guys turned up nice and early and we thought 'perfect'. Unfortunately the top doors were missing. They ordered the wrong door knobs. Worse of all, when my wife and I returned home that evening long after they'd 'finished' we discovered the work was awful, to be polite! They're supposed to be made to measure but were the same size but with more filler down the sides. One wardrobe fell short of the skirting board by an inch, the carpenters cutting wasn't straight and fitted properly. Aren't they supposed be made to measure in the factory? We can't understand why we had a surveyor if the fitters were cutting to fit!! Awful just awful and so upsetting so close to Christmas. The knock on effect means that we had to cancel the carpet fitter, cancel the plasterer for another room (as our bedroom furniture is stored in there) and we were supposed to be having guests stay over at Christmas. But we now have a bedroom that was beautifully decorated (before Hammonds arrived) and which now looks rubbish. The craftsmanship just awful. The nightmare still continues as we keep contacting customer services to speak to a manager and to get one to come and inspect it. No luck so far! No doubt when (or if) a manager turns up he will arrive by horse with a Stetson. £2500 for two wardrobes, you expect a flawless and professional delivery. Not even close. Please shop elsewhere, we wish we had done, if only for hindsight!
