I have recently experienced an absolutely horrid service from DPD and in the light of everything that has occurred, it has become quite evident that the Corporation have only their interests at heart.
Before I begin I would like to mention that I get packages everyday due to the home business I run, these packages are delivered from all over the world and unless its DPD or Citylink, I never have a problem.
Recently I purchased 2 aftershaves from The Fragrance Shop's website and paid for 48 hour delivery.
2 days later I had received a note in the door with a telephone number asking me to ring up and organise a redelivery, so I did; after 3 frustrating calls they inform you with an automated message they cant actually arrange a redelivery on the phone despite it being an option on the note.
It proved difficult to speak to someone, so as usual I decided to ring up the accounts telephone number instead in the know that they sure would not loose any possible future contracts.
I spoke to someone briefly and explained to the customer rep that I would not be in the next day and to deliver the parcel to one of my neighbours. This is never a problem, one of my neighbours is retired and the 2 to the left of me also work from her, we are a close bunch and do favours for each other regularly.
I got home the next day and no note was left behind, I could see a voice-mail on the house phone and played back an automated message explaining that I had signed for the parcel, strange that is, unless we have a spirit who has been free-loading in the house, that would be impossible.
After a few phone calls to the fragrance shop and DPD I was initially told that the GPS handheld device was showing that the item had been delivered to 53, next door to me, again I must stress no body was in.
I asked for a copy of the signature and the name of the recipient who signed the package, lo and behold my name was "forged" and signed for and apparently I signed for the package.
Clearly this was not true as no one was near the home, still, DPD inisted that the driver had done his job and after 2 weeks of "bias" investigation and DPD protecting the interest of their business and covering up a clear fraud, I got a phone call to inform that they had concluded the investigation showed no signs of misconduct from their driver.
So, despite them contradicting the fact to where the package was delivered, first at my neighbours then at mine, the fact that I and no one was near the home at the time and the icing on the cake, a forged signature, this was their clearly bias conclusion.
That's it folks, I paid for an item to be delivered, the driver comes to the house, signs the package and apparently that is the end of everything...amazing.
Unfortunately I resorted to the one thing I resented most, spending hours backtracking on the CCTV cameras.
If time was not of an essence, I would have done this much earlier on but in all honesty I thought an honest investigation would take place.
I informed DPD that I did not want any of their staff on my property, I have in the past had extremely bad problems with the company, from them throwing packages over the fence and breaking things, to leaving a £500 amplifier in the bin and even waking up to one of their drivers urinating on the side of my house, not what I want to see first thing.
Despite me telling them this, they were insistent that a driver come to my property so I told them they are not welcome and that I would use force if necessary, why sending a driver to my house is part of the investigation I have no idea, why they think it would be a good idea to send a driver who has committed fraud to my house when we are feeling irate by their clear lies and inability to do their job, again I have no idea.
I used to be a courier driver, most self employed courier drivers have a certain ethos that they can do what they want as long as they go back to the depot empty handed. In this case they were willing to forge my signature and lie their way through an investigation which DPD patted them on the back for.
Never again DPD.
