Aldi supermarket have reduced, i.e 'downsized' the size of (340 gram) jars of it's own brand 'Grandessa' (smooth) peanut butter. This was discovered after purchasing a jar of the product on 4 July 2017.
However it is still labelled as 340 gram, and still the same price 0.99 pence.
I wrote a letter to them about it and they replied by stating some gobbledygook about the jars conforming to an EU standard, relating to an average size of product over a range of the product.
And nothing about the actual issue of underweight jars of product being sold to the unsuspecting public.
That has the hallmarks of the modus operandi of a 'Rogue Trader'. Which is not regulated or policed properly as a consequence of the government's 'austerity measure' cuts in public spending; and local authority funding (consumer protection etc).
