I am only going to add a review with the exact same complaint as all the others. The customer service is a joke, the phone number and online chat is never operational, and the email enquiry has an 'estimated' 72 hou response time. It is virtually impossible to get through the booking process and keep all your hair. Even if you do, chances are the hotel you want is a) closed b)makes you pay a supplement c) has very limiting t's&c's or d)would actually be cheaper to book directly how much do you want to bet this is made deliberately difficult so that people just can't be bothered? DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE TREAT YOU LIKE THIS!

I think 'restrictions' might be understating it somewhat. It is virtually impossible to use, meaning a good number of people probably decide its more trouble than its worth. Happy days for you.

Your website is extremely hard to navigate, you provide little or no information with a gift voucher itself, meaning all customers are forced into using it, and for those that find it so or are unable to access it, there is zero chance of any human assistance.
I was kicked out in the process of entering my (numerous) activation codes/voucher codes/security codes and told to contact customer services to proceed with a booking....
I have emailed the 'customer service' address twice, both times it took almost a week to receive a response. The one occasion i managed to get through on the phone i had to go to the sales line in order to get an answer and paid almost £4 for the call.
If you didn't make the process so deliberately problematic, maybe there would not be such an "extremely high volume" of customers trying to contact you?
And finally. i would contact you directly regarding my booking but you didn't provide me with an address

“Two night getaway voucher ”

I extended my voucher for 6 months on the 31st December 2017 (which cost me £20) as I couldn't book convenient date due to the booking restrictions at the listed venues. And most of the venues I've had to leave messages for have never called back. I've just tried to contact you on the telephone number on your website but the message just directs me to uour website! I've emailed with some queries (which takes 72 hours to reply) only to be told my voucher expired on the 1st June. I never received to promised email when I extended it which would have given me the new expiry date. I know have a voucher that I've n4vrr been able to use which was a 50th birthday gift. What a waste of money that was!! I've seen other people have had similar experiences and you just ask them to contact you. How are they supposed to do that when you don't have a customer service number that actually work?!!

My emails have also been ignored and as my gift has now expired I don't think there's any point. “WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY”

The gift I got from my daughter only allowed me to use within three months. Due to illness I couldn’t book anything and wanted to extend the voucher only to be told it’s too late and that it had past the 1 Dec 3017. Can’t get hold of anyone via phone automated answering so emailed them only for them to say it’s too late. They have £70 of my daughters money. Completely unhelpful.

“Don't waste your money”

I woudl not bother with this voucher (hotel break for two with dinner) or similar gifts. Having received this it proved impossible to book any dates at a a suitable hotel as they only specify so many rooms for vouchers. I tried in January to book to be told that all available dates were gone and that I should call back after March for more to be released. I did so and got the same tale and told to call back in September. Then it happened again so now I have no dates left in my diary and the voucher will expire soon. I advise folk to just book a nice hotel for someone rather than use these vouchers. They are far too restrictive in the choice of destinations and dates available.

“Dead End”

Logged on to website to activate the gift we had been given. Entered activation number and clicked GO. No go! could not go any further. Attempted to discuss problem by calling number advised, automated service with no advice whatsoever. Looks like we will not be going anywhere! and the £199 spent by my friend will be wasted. Cannot describe how terrible this is, will advise friends and family not to purchase same.

“Impossible to book-awful company”

Do not use this company, all hotels we want to stay at turn us away as soon as we tell them we have a voucher. We called in June when we first got our gift and where told that they had no voucher rooms left. We tried another hotel and had the same experience, we thought it must have been due to the summer holidays so I have tried to book again for autumn, surprise surprise they had rooms until I told them we had a voucher. The manager of the Cardynham house in Painswick told me that this company has given out too many vouchers and by the time he had voucher rooms free ours would have run out!! Rude is an understatement the contempt in his voice was disgusting. What a waste of our son and daughter in laws present. What a disappointment as this was our 30th wedding anniversary present £200 wasted.

“Non Existent Vineyard Tour”

We turned up at the Vineyard yesterday morning, in good time for the Vineyard Tour detailed on our ticket. We had phoned both of the Vineyard numbers beforehand, as recommended in the instructions, and both went to voicemail. We left a message on the mobile number. When we arrived, no one else was around. We phone the numbers again, both still going to voicemail, and left messages on both. We had travelled 69 miles to get there. Eventually, the Vineyard manager turned up, inspected the details on our ticket, and then told us that they only ran tastings on Thursdays and Saturdays at 4pm (not Wednesdays at 11), and that in any case they were due to shut down for the winter in 3 days time. He tried the Gift Ideas number for us (in the details supplied) but we could not get beyond an automated message. We returned home tired and disappointed. We are out of pocket because of the activity we did not get, and by the £17.50 or so petrol cost. I will tell my brother not to use this company again, when he buys presents.

“Impossible to Book”

We tried to book somewhere earlier in the year and were met with negativity as soon as we said it was a gift experience. I thought maybe it was because of the summer demand and we decided to leave until this time (a nice autumn break we thought!!) We tried Scarborough - pretty much closed after October apparently. We thought Blackpool illuminations might be nice. Great Western Hotel would not accept us on a Friday or a Saturday in November or December (or indeed on the Sundays we could do). Nor could the other hotels in Blackpool as soon as we said it was a 1 night voucher. I wonder how many vouchers run out and Gift Ideas pocket the 100 quid So disappointed and really concerned about telling my parents who thought this would be a lovely thoughtful gift

“impossible to book”

Tried to book a night away once we said we had the gift voucher they said there was no availability for the any Saturday night. We checked on line and the hotel we had chosen showed several rooms available on Saturday night over the next few weeks.

“Absolutely disgusting!”

My son bought us a £199 Two Night Getaway present by Gift Ideas For Two from Debenhams in Sheffield last Christmas. The box and literature presentation was absolutely immaculate, it was a really special present. However, when we some time later looked for an hotel we could only find one that would take us on a suitable date, and they wanted up to £120 extra because it was not one of the weekends on offer! Most hotels on offer were much cheaper than £199 for two nights, and some of them were of a poor quality. On applying to Gift Ideas to change the weekend to £199 worth of wine, they refused, but offered us an "activity" which was not suitable considering our age. They then would not offer an alternative unless we provided a "Medical Certificate" to show why! Eventually having threatened to take the whole affair to television and the national press, they very condisendingly offered to change the gift to £99 worth of wine. And only after I refused to talk to anybody other than a director of the company. No, she never talked to me. Yes, that's one hundred pounds less than was paid. Take it or leave it. Yes, it is in the very small print in their conditions. And it is very small print too. Do Debenhams realise just what they are selling? We were eventually given two vouchers for Naked Wines, each worth £50 to be supplied over two months. To add even more insult to the whole disgusting debacle, we had to pay to have the wine delivered! Naked Wines were not to blame in any way, but why are they connected to this obvious disreputable company? Have nothing to do with Gift Ideas, or their associate company! You have been warned. Ony one star because you cannot give none!

I regret that we are usually unable to offer a tangible item which is mentioned in our terms due to the fact that the items are not set up to be sent in this manner. However we were able to arrange this on this particular occasion due to medical issues. We will always exchange your voucher to the value in which was paid, therefore if you believe that £199 was paid, we will be happy to honour this value for you once we have seen the receipt or bank statement to confirm this price. “Customer Service null point!”

Desperately trying to book a spa break. Very dubious after reading reviews.  Need to get in touch with BBC customer watchdog program to put a stop to it. Will get Consumer Program to investigate, nothing like bad publicity to get them to react. Will also get in touch with Debenhams to let them know how they have been dragged in to promote such a rubbish product. They have put their reputation on the line. It have proven impossible to get through to the numbers on your worthless website. My advice to other prospective Christmas buyers do not touch with a barge pole. Want to have my money back as it has been proven to redeem my voucher where and when I wanted.

It has only taken you 20 days to react to my review. I did try to call an advisor. None of your so called advisers contacted me even though they have both my email and phone number. Your numbers have been unobtainable. Been redirected to the website, looked like a avoidance tactic to me. Got in touch with Debenhams who apologised profusely and refunded my money. Lesson learned, never touch anything to do with Activity Superstore. We don't need pathetic excuses or empty apologies. We wanted our purchases honoured, and you have not been able to do that. “ Gift Ideas for two.CON”

What a total waste of money. My daughter bought us a steam train ride for two as a Christmas gift. Seven locations were listed. We decided to go to the nearest one 80 miles away as it was near relatives whom we could visit at the same time. When we tried to book there was only one location available, Neme Valley over 200 miles away on the other side of the country. This practice should be stopped, so many people purchasing these gifts which are not matching their descriptions! Do not purchase! When I wrote a review on their site, it came up with; "We were unable to handle your request." From what I have read many people have given this company bad reviews, if the gift was an actual tangible gift and it failed to be as described they would be given a refund. All these people who have bought these gifts in good faith should be refunded.

I had the same experience. There is no confusion. I found that out of 8 railways listed only 3 actually accepted their voucher. I sent emails to the other 5 and their responses indicated that they never signed up to accept these vouchers at all but this company sent out the gift packs with their names on anyhow and have refused to amend packaging to reflect the correct position. There is a reason why these people get so many terrible reviews.

“Not happy ”

Got a voucher for Christmas and tried to book a 2 night stay but every hotel I have tried no longer has any slots available until the new year, even though they all have rooms free. They apparently only have a few rooms allocated to use with the vouchers. This means I am going to have to buy a 6 month extension. Not very happy as there is no guarantee I will be able to book anything in the next 6 months if they only have a few slots available. Won't be recommending this as a gift for anyone else :(

I have a voucher that I have to use before Xmas .Getting a bit concerned about all the terrible reviews .might be a good idea to complain to Debenhams directly on thier reviews page as they are still selling these vouchers.. Maybe you might get a more positive responds from them .

I have used mine now. We literally had to call every single hotel on the list and eventually found one. I would never purchase one of these vouchers again -ours was wasted as we had to go somewhere just for the sake of it and it works out cheaper to book direct more often than not Good luck with using yours - you may struggle now though as most places won't be accepting them just before Christmas. They don't mention things like this when you buy them!

“Avoid at all costs”

Our daughter bought us a "One night escape with diner" for Christmas. Looked wonderful - packaging great - hotel choice seemed good. However, when we came to try and book, the number of hotels in Gloucestershire - where we wanted to go - had been reduced from 3 to 1 and couldn't accommodate us on "this voucher basis". Tried another hotel in Herefordshire - same result ! Finally reduced to 3rd choice hotel, going to them when they want ! A vastly over priced product, delivering nothing like the expectation.

“What a Swiz”

My wife bought me a voucher as a xmas gift "Two night getaway with afternoon tea " advertised at a value of £199 sold for £99 a bargain or so she thought , 1st problem the choice of hotel is limited and so are the dates after an aborted booking we tried to get a refund as the value is Knowhere near the £199 advertised !! and prices can be checked via the net.If you need to speak to someone other than the confusing webb page it is on a premium rate number!! tried to contact by email it takes at least 5 days for a reply from a different company , this is explaned as a sister company (still no help). I could go on but thje moral is if it seems too good it is probabley crap!! Do not buy a voucher go direct and avoid this company like the plague

I am sorry that you felt the activity was not good value for money and that the options were not suitable for you. We do advertise locations before purchase as well as what is included and that there may be a restriction on the days of the week or months of the year that the voucher can be used at.

When purchasing through a third party company such as ourselves there are extra benefits and therefore costs to consider in providing these vouchers that may mean costings can vary to those direct. We do offer other venues and have to take into consideration each venue and that their rate fluctuate depending on days and time of the year. This all has to be covered within our one price. The voucher bought as a gift package offers far greater flexibility than simply booking an experience directly, for example we offer a customer service centre available to assist with any queries, emergency cancellation cover (in case of illness prior to attending) and personal accident insurance.
I hope this clarifies why the price of the voucher may be different that direct at the location.

“Do it yourself”

Our daughter booked this and then we booked the hotel, The Baskerville Arms Hotel. We walked in and walked straight out, and went home. No way were we going to sleep there. Musty, dusty, and the decor was well over due. As soon as my wife walked in she started having ashma problems. We rang gift ideas for two, told them. We were requested to send an email, 4 we have sent so far and no response. Dont book with them

“62% reduction in places to take the product!! ”

This was a specific gift for my partner and I - for 2017. We are only in April, the number of locations (branded as 8+) is now 5 - none of which are near us. Indeed, we have booked a trip in order to take one of two locations in - both have been discontinued. It's April!! Surely you can guarantee if not the actual locations, the same amount of choice. We have no where near to get to, and our holiday is now not going to take in the trip. Goodness, I would never have thought after only 3 months into the year - such a change in the product brought. And the answer - return it get the money?! It was a gift. Terrible.

The packs go to print in May of the previous year and at this time all details are correct, however throughout the course of the vouchers validity locations can change owing to factors beyond our control. “Disgusting and misleading”

'Hotel Spa Break'.....that's the title of the gift my partner paid £149 for. We booked the hotel.....that had a spa....the gift was actually only for bed and breakfast....nothing else. them. athe hotels' actual bill for bed and breakfast was only £79......we had to pay extra for the spa treatments and dinner. I'm so angry, what a waste of money. We will never buy a gift experience again and I will tell all my froliendx not to. I will be complaining to the managing director as I sm livid that my partners hard earned money and generosity of a thoughtful gift for me has turned out to be a greedy money grabbing rip off!

I appreciate your disappointment however the activity is sold as being only bed and breakfast and use of the spa facilities, treatments and further meals will incur a cost. In regards to the pricing, we do have to cover the range of locations and the fluctuation in prices of the hotel rooms depending on the date in which you attend. For example a weekend in summer months will be more expensive than those booked midweek or in quitter periods.

“Rip off”

This is the second time we have been on one of their 'gifts'. The first was a steam train ride a mate brought for us. I know she paid £29 because you can see it on the site. We booked a ride local to us. Some friends cam with us a paid cash for the ride. £8.50 each! We went 20 minutes up a bit of track and back again. This time it was a 'gastro' meal for two! We paid £30 in taxis there and back to get there. The choice was this place in brum or 50 mile round trip to Warwick. We had seen the menu and it from the website, when we go there we sat in the dinning room with one other couple. The atmosphere was dead and it was a Friday night. We knew it was going to be a 5 course taster menu so had eaten little all day. When we got there we were given a speak aloud menu of 8 things to chose our 5 from. 3 pieces of chicken tikka, one vegetable kebab in we left. I can't believe my friends paid £50 for that. I'm going to complain. I already know where that is going. Don't buy from this company ever. Give your mates cash if you want to treat them. I've only given it one star because there is no minus.

Hello  I suppose legally your contract lies with the shop you bought the product from but getting a refund from them because you weren't happy with the terms of the deal is probably out of their remit. I would contact Gift Ideas but good luck with that as they tried to wriggle out of any responsibility by hiding behind terms they don't make clear at the start when you make the booking which is underhand at best.

I purchased an afternoon tea pack as a gift on 30/11/2015 at BHS Fareham. My daughter wants to redeem as it expires 1st Dec 2016, however we have misplaced the receipt and the store has closed down. Any suggestions? I can forward a copy of bank statement to confirm purchase if required.
