Should have read the reviews first. They are all correct. Couldn't even supply information i already had and knew to be true.

This search site cannot find the simplest of details which I already knew - a complete waste of money....

I have just signed up with them trying to trace somebody to issue a WARRENT to. I traced on PEOPLETRACER & IT SHOWED NOTHING. I tried another person, GUESS WHAT? IT SHOWED NOTHING! I have the 2015 electoral roll showing BOTH PEOPLE living at the address I searched on this site. Nobody is taking calls either. I'm taking LEGAL ACTION AGAINST PEOPLETRACER.

THEY JUST SELL INFORMATION FROM OLD ELECTORAL ROLLS THAT YOU CAN GET ANYWHERE FOR FREE. THEY DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO ANY DATABASE THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOESN'T HAVE ACCESS TO. TOTALLY USELESS, DON'T USE THEM

I signed up to their free 14 day trial in September 2013 and searched for 1 person unsuccessfully. They then charged my debit card account £49.95 and then charged me again a year later in September 2014. I have had no useful service from them and their website is dreadful - probably deliberately! I have been in contact with my bank and they have cancelled the 'subscription' but claim they can do nothing and that the I need to resolve the problem by contacting Peopletracer. On phoning Peopletracer, a recorded message informed they couldn't answer my call at present. Unfortunately, I left this information and am now worrying what unethical uses they can put it to. Surely these unethical practices are illegal. My advice to others is that they avoid Peopletracer like the plague. At first glance their website seems to offer useful information but it is useless. Also, they seem to have no compunction about taking your money when they know that they have not provided a service.

Payment went through but no credits appear.Go to chat room and no reply.Call bank and tell them about what happened.Cancel card and go to bank to get new one.Email ANCESTRY.com why they are tied to these people. More than probable its the same owner.

I have never heard of them or registered with them and yet Peopletracer.co.uk still took £29.94 from my Barclaycard. I have reported this to the bank and have tried calling them but the phone keeps going through to voicemail (straight away) and no-one's called me back. The Live Chat is never open and I would avoid submitting your details for a 'call-back' as God only knows what they'll do with that information!] I would avoid at all costs and report any fraudulent activity to your bank (and the Police if you feel it necessary).

I never heard of them before, but they took £49.95 out of my account, making it go overdrawn. I have reported this to the bank. Would give it negative stars if possible.

I signed up to their free 14 day trial and searched for 1 person unsuccessfully. They charged my credit card account £49.95 4 weeks later and then charged me again a year later. This is inertia selling which I think is illegal. Avoid them- they have a flashy web site but are useless. Not only that but they have no compunction about robbing your credit card account when they know that they have not provided a service. The only appropriate descriptive words are rubbish and unethical.

I registered believing I could view the most up to date electoral registers - but you can't. A complete waste of money. I asked for a refund and they refused. I would avoid this company like the plague.

I signed up for a free 14 day trial on this site to see if I could find some information on some relatives. I performed three searches, none of which gave me any more information than the BT online white pages. So, I decided to cancel. The terms and conditions clearly state that an account can be cancelled in less than 14 days and not be charged. Nevertheless, when I tried to cancel I received a message that my account was not yet set up. Not too upset yet, I tried to log in two days later to cancel, and not I can not even log in. It will not accept my password, and when I make a request to reset my password, they claim a message has been sent to my e-mail, but never send such a message. An e-mail to their customer service very politely answered a completely different question than I have asked, obviously an automated canned response. This site intentionally offers 14 day trials, then makes it impossible to cancel them. Furthermore, they do not even allow customer to use the service after the initial login. It is amazing that this can be allowed to continue operating in the UK.

You think- great! Worth a 14 day trial period, I needed urgently to contact one of Mum's carers.... No tel no available, so attempted to cancel. AAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! You manage to send an email saying please cancel - on the same day. Have to await 24 hours, they write back... So did....then it says go into MY ACCOUNT.... Where the hell is that?? It puts you back out of their site, then when you try and log in....surprise, surprise it does not accept your log in details. So, after half an hour of pissing about....and gettng more and more aggitated, knowing they have already had access to my 49.95 credit card.... I try 5 times to get a new password. Each does not log me in. Have now threatened the Trading Standards! and Halifax! Has anyone had any luck with the ba......ds? WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE A NO STAR RATING??? IT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR EVEN ONE STAR BUT THIS APPEARS TO BE A MIN????? wHAT WOULD i LIKE TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS COMPANY.....never to use them!

As with other people I signed up for FREE 14 day trial and cancelled well before the 14 days were up but I was still charged £49.95. Am in the process of getting my money back and I am in contacts with Trading Standards. If I could give the site less than 1 star I would!

I signed up for a 14 day free trial then cancelled it two days later. The conditions clearly stated that if you cancelled during the 14 days you would not be charged. Needless to say, 2 weeks after joining, £49.95 was taken from my card without my authorisation. The company denied that I had cancelled the account and refused to give a refund. I had to go through my bank and got my money back having lodged a formal dispute with them. You only have to read the reviews on here and other people who have written on peopletracer's facebook page to see that my story is a common one. Please avoid this company at all costs and save yourself the stress of having moey unlawfully taken from your account.

gosh how I wished I had checked them out first and read your review and others!
I have threatened with Trading Standards.....how do they get a licence to trade????

Your bank should be able to take back the money. It was when I emailed them asking for their business address in order to send a 'letter before action' (ie the final letter you send to a company before commencing court action) that they decided to start co-operating!

I signed up for a free trial with People Tracer but PLEASE don't do the same. Unbelievably for an internet company they send you NO registration emails and NO communication at all regarding your account so you simply have to remember to find their site to close the trial or else you get charged. Of course this is how they make their money. They have charged me in full now yet I have no comms from them to say an account is set up!! SCAMMERS - plain and simple. My bank is getting my money back for me. A letter is also on its way to BBC Watchdog.

The site came up on an internet search and after trying the free service without success, my internet connection developed problems. When I finally got back online I telephoned peopletracer to explain that the annual subscription had only just been debitted from my account. I was advised to email with an explanation and if appropriately a refund may be considered. Refund!! Not a chance its how they make their money, not one of my free searches returned a result..... Avoid at all costs.

This service is a subscription service that doesn't make this clear in their advertising or payment pages. Check the very small print. They will charge you for subsequent months without any warning and won't refund when you request cancelation. Very unfair terms and conditions and appalling customer service. AVOID at all costs don't waste your money. You a reputable supplier such as 192.com

I clicked on people tracer last month to find a person/ address for which I paid £4.95. I did not find the person I was looking for and to top it all they have taken another £4.95 from my bank. I did not realise that this was a month;y subscription service. When I called them I was told it is all in the terms and conditions and there is a line of text halfway down the first page. There should be a law for these type of adverts that makes it clear that they are running a subscription service. It should be stated on the top line before other text. DONT GO THERE!

Go to your Bank and trading standards, let's all work together and not allow another person to be affected.!

I was initially attracted to this website as I wanted to make a single search of the electoral register. The offer was presented as 5 searches for £3.99. More than I needed but as it was the minimum I went for it. Registered with the website and paid by debit card. Three months later I realised that £3.99 was being debited every month. Puzzled I contacted customer services to cancel and get a refund. I was was told that I should have read the terms and conditions and that a full refund would not be given. I was offered one months payment as a good will gesture, despite having never used the service since nor even logging on after my first use of the site. I protested but was rudely cut off by the operator, then I received a sarcastic email. Stating

I requested the bronze package and was charged for the silver. Tried to log in afterwards and my log in details were not recognised. I was told I would receive an email with my log in details but haven't received anything. I tend to agree with others, another unhappy customer!!!!!!!
