“Found it easy to use”

Written on: 18/04/2017 by Giada475 (1 review written)

I have found it most useful in tracing my ancestors. Whilst I admit it doesn't give the reasons why some actions they took, about baptisms for example, (not all the children being baptised) nevertheless it has proved most interesting… Read Full Review

“Ancestral Trail”

Well I've made some major breakthroughs in tracking my family tree thanks to this web site. I would highly recommend it particularly regarding Irish relatives, limited with regard to my Scottish members but the hints section was a blessing… Read Full Review

“Find your ancestors made easy ”

Written on: 19/03/2017 by NelsonMcCollum (1 review written)

FMP is a well constructed, user friendly website. I have subscribed to FMP for two years using it in conjunction with Ancestry to maximize the returns on my family tree research, my historical trees being on Ancestry. The addition of the 1939 register is a fantastic bonus to find people after 1911.There appears to be fewer transcription mistakes on FMP than other sites. In addition loyalty to FMP is rewarded when renewing an existing subscription with a very welcome discount, something other… Read Full Review

“A Great Place to Find your Ancestors”

Written on: 18/03/2017

The site is quite easy to use and there is somuch information to find can be quite daunting at first, but practise makes perfect so don't give up. The 1939 Register is only avalable on Find my Past and can be a usefull tool to find people after the 1911 census ,you can even search by the adress only so you could find out who was living where you live in1939. The imformation and records are constantly being updated so there is always somthing new too find. It's a great… Read Full Review

“I am disappointed with FMP. i have recently...”

Written on: 12/03/2017 by giPerkins99 (1 review written)

I am disappointed with FMP. i have recently subscribed to fmp for the second time and it does not give me any useful information. It is hard to use and understand. I would not recommend it to anyone. I use ancestry.com and am very happy with ancestry. FMP does not track online hints nearly as well as ancestry. Then gives no documents… Read Full Review

“A REALLY BRILLIANT REFERENCE TOOL”

Written on: 05/03/2017 by Roycurtis (1 review written)

The Find my past site is invaluable, it makes genealogy research a piece of cake. The addition of updates to existing people on my family tree also ensure I have the full information about this person. I really like the way that details are presented including birth, marriage death and also census for the later members on the tree. The only drawback is that printing the family tree is not easy… Read Full Review

“The 1939 Register is amazing”

Written on: 04/03/2017 by bunty71 (1 review written)

The best thing about Find My Past is the 1939 Register. It helped me discover what happened to my Great Aunt and Uncle, and where my Dad's family were living in 1939. The newspapers section is also wonderful. I discovered that my relatives were featured in a 1914 advertising campaign! And the UK parish records can also be a rich source of information. Sign up - it's worth it!… Read Full Review

“Best Irish Collection”

Written on: 01/03/2017 by ywRoche246 (1 review written)

Findmypast is the goto site if you are searching for ancestors from the British Isles. The site is very good at updating their data base, especially Irish records. They are doing a great job in gathering Church records for both England and Ireland. One weakness- gathering data n Irish Protestants, especially Methodist and Baptist… Read Full Review

“Refund policy falsely advertized”

Written on: 16/02/2017 by ezMoore315 (1 review written)

I used the site for 10 minutes, after reading the refund policy I felt confident. Used the site for 10 minutes, found it difficult, expensive (requiring further payment for anything other that free searches). So I requested a refund. But was refused, the 14 day money back policy was ignored. This is what they advertise: in fact there are no refunds! Free cancellation within 14 days of Findmypast subscription. Your choice to cancel! If you change your mind or for any other reason decide you do… Read Full Review

“Works well for a starter”

Written on: 06/02/2017 by Wildbore (1 review written)

As a 'newbie' I'm not in a position to compare with other sites, but I have been impressed with how easy it is to get started with this site. Within a month I am fairly confident that I have got back to 1771. The 'hints' feature is helpful, but can also be a real pain when you get dozens of 'possibles' many of which are often highly improbable. I'm sure that FMP would say it is better to give the researcher all the information to hand and let him or her decide what is and isn't useful, but if… Read Full Review

“FindMyPast - Clunky Website - Good Information”

Written on: 03/02/2017 by Trudge65 (1 review written)

I have been using Ancestry for several years and it is my benchmark. Once logged in to FindMyPast I do not need to be treated like a Newby - FindMyPast knows exactly how long I have been a member so should treat me accordingly. Using scroll bars to move around a tree is archaic when right click and drag makes the process faster and easier. Person search in a tree takes getting used to, but it works. Hints are OK, but again this Newby approach is irritating. also, the display of BMD and other… Read Full Review

“Still some niggles”

Written on: 12/01/2017 by kwWright361 (1 review written)

I like the hints section which ia appended to family names, but some are a bit way off. It is annoying if you enter in census details and find that a maiden name is lost and the lady's married name re-entered. Also I wish 'name variants' wouldn't correct itself every time you change another variable… Read Full Review

“Excellent Masterclasses”

Written on: 06/01/2017 by Webbpt36 (1 review written)

I am a seasoned Genealogist, but you can always learn something new. There are several different ways of using the records and it is well worth reading through the masterclasses. Unfortunately there is never a site which covers all the records you may want, but thanks to an army of transcribers, new information comes online all the time. I would definitely recommend the site. An annual subscription is good for the novice or someone with plenty of time to use it. However I do like the site and… Read Full Review

“Easy to Negotiate the Records”

Written on: 02/12/2016 by DanteOrtega (1 review written)

Although I have previously subscribed to other genealogy sites I find FMP to be the far easiest to negotiate through the records. The interface is very clear and downloading original documents to my laptop is easy. I have found in other sites that the information is too busy" and off putting and doesn't necessarily give the results I want. Since joining FMP I have managed to fill in many missing details and the 1939 Register has been very helpful in this. If I have difficulty finding an… Read Full Review

“Findmypast has proved to be the right site for me!”

Written on: 27/10/2016 by Over49 (1 review written)

Before joining Findmypast, I had used other free and paying sites, with no success of finding any relatives, even those I knew a lot about and was on the verge of losing interest. However, Findmypast has renewed my enthusiasm, I couldn't believe the number of records and family members I have found and added to my tree. Even now with an established tree, additional information occasionally arises about my ancestors, and each new piece of information sends me off on a hunt again. My aunt has… Read Full Review
