I ordered the double stem purple planter orchid. From the website, I thought I was ordering from a local florist. I was going to order online, but wanted to make sure you had it in stock, so I called to make sure. I was put on hold while he checked, then told he did. I ordered this plant at 7:55 am, to go to a funeral at 12 , same day , I agreed to pay $9.99 delivery fee, even though the website I was ordering from said free delivery, to make sure it got there on time. At first when I called he said I could still get free delivery with the website coupon code. Then he told me he needed to charge me since I needed it there in 4 hours. My order started out $99. When he totaled it up, he said it would be $132. I asked why. He told me with express delivery fee($9.99), for the bow ($6) and card ($4) with our names on it and tax. I thought that was too high, but since I was pressed for time, I agreed.
I got a call back from Avas Florist at 11:24 am, saying they had made a mistake. They did NOT have any orchids. Would I be willing to switch and get a dish garden or a Peace Lily or a Bromeliad ? I asked what they looked like and the cost. He told me the Bromeliad (not sure of spelling) was full of pink blooms and really big and pretty. So I chose it. I asked about the cost. He said Peace Lily is about $30, the Bromeliad $40 & dish garden varies. He said they could put 3 in a big basket to make it the value of $132 that was already charged to my credit card. I was not happy but did not have much choice since the service started in about 30 minutes and yall still had to deliver it.
I went to the funeral. The plant that had my name on it, was one small plant about 20-23" high (including the basket) , looked like a corn stalk with 3 orange blooms on it. It was smaller than any of the Peace Lillys there. I was very disappointed. This was a really close friend and my gift looked insufficient. It certainly was not 3 big plants in a basket as was promised and it was not full of pink flowers, as was promised. At this point, I cannot un-do that damage, but I want a refund of the difference I had paid for a double orchid. I do NOT want to be charged $132 for the same plant. you charge other customers $40 for. I asked for a refund to my credit card for the difference No response. I kept calling different numbers until I got to actually talk to someone. He was courteous at first, but as I explained the situation, he apologized and then told me the only thing he could do for me was to give me a store credit of $20 on my next order. I told him there would never be another order, so that was not adequate. I want a refund of $90, or Avas to send the double purple orchid I paid for to begin with, at no charge to me. I argued with him about the value not being equal and after listening to me a few minutes, he hung up on me. Dont order from Avas Florist. Its not a florist.They are actuall in NJ, not a "local florist like it says on website". They just take the orders and add a lot of extra fees, then call a local florist to send you something different.

I had a similar poor experience, with poor service and very poor outcome!
BUYER BEWARE - Choose another florist. These people are terrible and NOT LOCAL as they claim.
