Play.com, previously known for its non-existent customer service, has now pulled a sneaky new scam to screw its customers, something at which they are past masters.
Sometime over the last few days, European customers who previously had been able to purchase goods priced in pounds are no longer able to do so, regardless of whether their home currencies are in the (sinking) Euro zone or not.
Instead, all orders from outside the UK must be denominated in Euros, or else the order won't go through.
This wouldn't be so bad except that Play are now charging a blood price when Euro payment is required: 14-25% more than the pound price equivalent for the same object!
The Japanese who took over recently seem to have been impressed with the way Play got away with its massive disdain for customers, and obviously are continuing the same scandalous corporate practices.
Boycott Play! By the way, I notice if you google "play.com" followed by a term like "stinks" "terrible service" or "sucks", nothing turns up. Ha sPlay cut a deal with Google?

Ran into this purchasing "requirement" today and it stinks. I pay with a UK credit card so no way am I paying in euros! Before today, I have been a satisfied customer but now I'm looking for a new merchant.
