I have never owned a Littlewoods catalogue although IO must confess that my Wife and eldest son have. I find it most interesting though that a person can open an account in anyone's name and provided they know all the appropriate details can ensure that the account is registered even without the knowledge of the person whose name they have used.

I discovered my middle son had opened such an account and when unable to open an accountin his own name, due to a shirt work history was able to give the name of a family member to have the account registered in their name. I only discovered that my name had been used by the occasional letter that then dropped through the mail for me - passing it off as Littlewoods erring in their mailshots and my Wife passing the mail top my son who she knew had an account.

When all was going swimmingly well and as I am not usually awiating postal deliveries in the morning, I accepted the position UNTIL the accounts side of their business started to put adverse statements onto my credit references. This occurred when my son lost his job and missed payments. I was loathe to report this as fraud as my son is just starting out after leaving college and because of the appalling approach to such issues by Hampshire police.

The whole issue has annoyed me and has at times been stressful and all because of the ease with which a company such as Littlewoods set up accounts without strict terms and conditions being adhered to. Their aim to make a quick profit from profligate shoppers has gone ahead of caution in setting up new accounts leaving their whole system open to negligence.

sounds like that was your sons fault, not Littlewoods.
