Trying to send email to this company, no way of doing it. Do they want to satisfy customers. Went in to Chipping Norton store today, found a jacket I would have purchased if they had it in my size, but they cannot order from another store. Obviously don't need the business. Jacket price was £199 with up to 30% off.

“False advertising and non-existent service”

I saw an offer for 20% off Jack & Jones clothes in both the local store window and on their internet site. Visited the store to try on and chose a pair of jeans. Only to then be told I'd be charged full price as the 20% offer ended the day before. Even though the price label still stated 20%, the window display 20% off!! False advertising and actually against the law. I emailed their head office to tell them of the poor service of the local store. 3 weeks later still no reply. I can only assume they don't care about customers. So I won't spend one more penny there. Was tempted to contact trading standards for them selling goods for a higher price than advertised, but I decided it was easier to not bother to shop there again.

This is true where it happened with us two weeks ago. The reduced price on the item was lower than the actual price , however we insisted to pay the price on the item. The salesman had accepted our argument and sold it to us. It is difficult to get through when you ring the store in Worthing as they do not answer the phone.

“Impressed!”

Did a comparison search on a fridge freezer and it came up with Beale's saving me £50.00 and also with free delivery. Phoned Thursday morning and explain our fridge had died and needed it asap. They said they had it in stock and could deliver Saturday if I purchased through the website, then took my details to look out for my purchase. They also arranged removal of our old one free as part of their service. I had a dispatch notice within the hour. Received my hour time slot the afternoon before as promised. The product turned up at 7.30am 5mins into the time slot. The delivery men were polite and brought it up into our first floor flat with no complaint, removed all the packaging and took it with them. If only all companies made things this easy! Thanks!!!

“Emails ignored unable to track order”

I ordered a microwave online last Friday. I have sent three emails asking when I can expect delivery - all of which have not been answered. I have received a standard email to say it has been dispatched but need to know just when it is coming so that I can ensure someone is in. I will certainly not be using Beales online ordering service again. Once they have taken your payment they are not interested. Very poor customer service.

“Abysmal customer service”

Ordered on line a set of pans I had seen in my local store but which were too heavy to carry home. After waiting several days I rang to see when delivery would be only to be told parcel had been delivered to my local post office. I had not left my home empty while awaiting delivery and no card had been posted through my letterbox. After 2 days of phone calls, email to CEO and lots of empty promises I am still without the pans so I have requested a refund. To add insult to injury I received a no access card in an envelope actually through the post. It's a pity no one could have used their initiative while this was ongoing and arranged for the pans to be couriered from the post office to me by taxi or a set delivered from my local Beales but when I suggested this it clearly was not an option. Well Beales have certainly lost my custom, I cannot recall ever receiving such indifferent customer service.

“Superb Service”

My wife and I were on holiday in Northumberland last week in Hexham, we popped in to the Beales Department Store on Monday, just for a look round. We have been looking for a Sofa Bed for some months, but have not seen anything in shops or on line to attract us. When we came upon the 'Bensons for Beds' department in the store, we asked an assistant if they had anything suitable and he was able to show us a Texas Sofa Bed which exactly met our needs and was very comfortable and easy to adjust between various positions. We decided to go ahead with the purchase and the assistant was very helpful and completed all the formalities very efficiently, explaining all the terms of contract and delivery options. We chose an early morning Monday delivery for this week and he promised that this would be confirmed by telephone and that the delivery driver would even call about half an hour prior to delivery. When we arrived back home on Saturday a telephone message had been left for us confirming all the details of delivery between 7 am and 1pm and then on Monday, sure enough we had a call from the driver at 6.40am that he would arrive within 30 minutes. The bed was delivered about 20 minutes later and they even carried it right up to the bedroom where we wanted it. The whole transaction and implementation had taken less than 7 days and every promise made had been kept to the letter. We were very impressed by this exceptional service and the very friendly approach adopted by everyone involved, particularly the prompt delivery. Many thanks to all concerned.

“WARNING - no item and poor communication”

Two days after they took my money they called me to say that they did not have the product they had clearly listed as available. The next day they sent me an email to let me know that it would take up to 2 weeks to return my money and that if I had any queries I should reply to that email. I followed instructions and replied and my email was returned as undeliverable. I then tried to contact Beales through their online contact form. They never responded. Very disappointing.

“Disinterested staff”

I found the Sunday Clinique consultant at the St. Neots branch unhelpful and disinterested. A disappointing and upsetting experience all round unlike my previous visits to this store.

“Waste of Time”

Item showing as in stock, ordered then got e-mail later that same day saying out of stock but it might take up to 10 days for the refund to get back to me depending on which bank I use bla bla bla. There is a recession on and some people cannot afford to have their money tied up like this. If you don't have the stock update your website, it's that simple. I would commend them on their speed of communication but bearing in mind it's nature that really is working hard to find a postitive.

“Won't pass this way again”

I ordered a duvet cover, it was on discount. I experienced nothing but confusion and frustration from beginning to end. I ordered the cover it didn't arrive, I received no email explaining the delay as stated in their terms and conditions. I had to contact them. If you let someone else take control of your despatching don't be surprised if there are mix ups. I was contacted only after I contacted them again. "The third party mixed up the papers." Nearly 2 weeks later I was told it has now been dispatched I was not given any tracking number. Besides this I also ordered some other goods days earlier and cancelled them. They refunded me. Lo and behold the cancelled order was only delivered. I had to return the cancelled items at my expense. I so hate dealing with incompetance. In the end I the customer had to liaise with the third party as well. By now Beales had stopped answering the phones, we rang from the beginning of the day to the late afternnon. No answering machine. My email was also unanswered and remains so to this day. I even had to check to see if they had gone bankrupt, because nobody would reply. Through exasperation I ordered the same cover from House of Fraser (who also use a third party warehouse) I felt safer with them as I've used them before , and they kept in constant contact updating me on my item with tracking data. They delivered within 3 days from ordering. I have made a mental note to never use Beales. The money I saved on discount just wasn't worth the mental hassle. I'd rather pay the extra. Finally, the duvet cover arrived! Much later than the 48 hours I had been quoted.
