Amazon is fast becoming my favourite place to buy from. There is just something reassuring about seeing the name of a big company accompanying your purchases. Even when buying via their associated marketplace merchants, the knowledge that Amazon back the whole thing up with their name is a reassurance.

As for the practical side, in the scores of items I have bought from Amazon I have never really had a problem. Goods have always been as described and have been delivered within a reasonable time.

Their descriptions are usually pretty accurate too. On other large, well known internet outlets (auctions especially) the descriptions often seem to be sheer confabulation. Amazon's are mostly true in my experience.

I will continue to shop at Amazon.
