After having bought a Bernina 530 as well as some sewing feet to go with it a year ago and having a great experience with this company, I decided to use them again to purchase a Bernina #86 Ruffler Foot.
My mother made the purchase on May 18th as a gift for me for my 21st birthday on June 28th. She received an email from them confirming that her purchase had gone through and that they would contact her when the foot was shipped.
I then went to visit her June 20th and she mentioned that she still hadn't received the foot. I called them up to find out why it hadn't been sent and why she hadn't received any information about the delay.
I was told that they weren't going to be getting the foot in stock until June 27th even the item was still listed as being in stock on their website.
I was fairly angry that we hadn't been told that up front but decided not to ask for a refund and instead asked that they change the shipping address to my own which I was told would be no problem.
Which brings us to mid-July. I was starting to get a bit anxious as I had expected to receive the foot a week or so after they got it in so I called them again.
I spoke to a man who told me an order had just come in that morning and that my foot was there, that he was holding it in his hand and he would get it to me by early next week.
I waited two and half weeks for my foot before calling again to find out what was going on.
I spoke to another woman who said that she HADNT received an order and that she didn't know why the man (who she said was her boss) had told me he had it. She said she would get in touch after she had found out what had happened.
I heard from her last Monday (now over two months since the foot was ordered) and was told that there WAS a foot there that she had tested and worked for my machine and was it possible that it was under another name? I told her it was originally ordered by someone else but I had asked for it to be changed in June. She said that it must not have been changed on the ordered on their computer.
She did not explain why her boss had not sent it out to me when he said he had it but she said she would send it out that evening! Finally!
I received it on Friday in a fairly squished package, opened it to find a VERY worn and bashed product box but an intact foot!
I didn't have the chance to try it out on my machine until today (Sunday August 17th, a day from being 3 months since it was ordered) so I sat down to try it only to discover that it didn't fit my machine.
I checked the box to discover that is was not the Bernina #86 Ruffler Foot that cost £72.
I had been sent a Distinctive 55705 Ruffler Foot that costs £15.99 on eBay and is not sold on Sewing World's online shop.
I WILL be asking for a full refund as well as the cost of sending the foot I received back but reading the other reviews I do not expect to receive it without a fight.
I am so disgusted at how much the shop has changed for the worst and that they have messed me around, lied to me and tried to cheat me out of money and my item by sending my a different an lesser quality item.
This is scamming behaviour in my book.
DO NOT BUY FROM SEWING WORLD!
