“Potential buyers beware. ”

I was thinking Scan is a trusted shop because of their informative website and known cpu benchmarks. After consulting with Scan Audio over the email I order a 14 hundred pounds laptop two days before Black Friday. I have been promised 5 days shipping, I received two emails on the same day, one confirms my order and the second that it is dispatched with tracking number. The tracking number didn’t worked, I sent an email on Friday and Saturday asking for the right tracking. After not getting a respond, I used the chat on Monday. Sells told me they are apologies and apparently the package didn’t sent but it will be sent today. I imagined this thing can happen because of black friday/cyber monday. The next day i asked on the chat if it sent, again they apologies and said it did not sent yet, they don’t know why and promised it will be sent today. A day after same story, apologies it yet been sent and promises it will be sent today. I called them over the phone, talked with the sells manager, I told him i’m asking for tracking for 6 days now and wasted a lot of time on this, he promised it will be short out today and he will call me back but he didn’t. Its been a week now, I cant get a tracking number. I never got a respond to my emails (over 5 days) I could have order it from somewhere else but now i missed all November sales and left with a bitter taste. Till this day I never received tracking number or proof it sent, any email or offer to help.

“Delay Refunds - Deny their Incompetence”

written by Karsond33 on 04/01/2022

I ordered a NVidia Dhield TV Pro andoid box before Christmas but when it arrived, it was non functional. I informed Scan and asked for an RMA number and they asked if I knew what I was doing rayher than supply an RMA number. I emailed them again outying every action that I had taken since opening the box. After two days, I received an RMA number. I sent the box back via Second Class Recorded since Scan had declined to pay for the return. The package was received and checked by their tech who agreed with my finding of no display.Unfortunately having missed Christmas wgich was wgen it would have been most needed, They the sent me a second unit which I had not asked for. Following an email to their offices stating that I categorically did NOT want a replacement box, their courier was meant to return the box to them, this box never reached me, Unfortunately they now refuse to refund me until their courier returns their replacemebt box ( which I never requested) to them. I only wish they were more local to me so I could visit their premises.

“NEVER AGAIN BUYING FROM THEM”

★☆☆☆☆

written by emanuel123456789 on 02/10/2021

These guys are the worst when coming to refunds. They have exchanged one faulty product, but when I have requested the replacement product to be refunded as it was faulty as well and failing just like the first product, they have said that the product was damaged by me and refused to issue the refund. They were insisting on me to sign a return policy so they can return the product to the manufacturer, but saying that since the product is physically damaged, the manufacturer will most likely void the warranty. BUT THEY WERE INSISTING TO SEND THE PRODUCT TO THEM REGARDLESS. Makes no sense, right? They were claiming that are the best at customer service, but one of their managers has been dealing with my query, quite frankly, in a savage way. At first they have issued blurry photos where you cannot see the PCI card, but only the metallic bracket being damaged. When questioned, they have issued again some photos, these time clearer than the first ones, but again the product and the serial number on the card not fully visible. Very dodgy! I have finally agreed with them to return the faulty product to me so I can investigate the damage, and I was shocked of what I've seen. The bracket seemed deliberately bent with a screwdriver or a long nose pliers in a very hard way. I will proceed with a full legal complaint against them and will FIGHT UNTIL I'LL GET MY MONEY BACK. I have purchased over the years more than £5,000 worth of components from them and have worked both full time and privately as PC builder and assembled over the years dozens of computers. NEVER DAMAGED NOT EVEN A SINGLE PART. Not even as a rookie. MY ADVICE: if you return a product to them, make a full video of how the product is packed, then boxed, and keep it aside just in case. I guarantee they will play this game with you too.

“Quick to take your money, slow with everything else.”

written by Clifford199 on 17/01/2021

Everything about ordering from Scan is great until you actually expect to get the items you paid for on the day they were supposed to be delivered. Literally never happens. Unfortunately this is the core basis of an online ordering company. Their stock management is a joke. They will sell you things as in stock with next day delivery and then email you casually to say your order has been delayed. Their customer service is impossible to get a hold of with hours of wait times both on the phone and on live chat. Even when you do get a hold of them their answer is always "Well you can just cancel your order then." Just order from Amazon if you want your items on time.

“Do not honour warranty”

written by spharley on 18/12/2020

They sent me a faulty laptop, had to be repaired on day 1. Over the next 9 months, laptop broke down in the same way twice. On the second time, they claimed it was water damage, though I saw it fail in the same way with my own eyes. They refused a poor student a repair, I'll never forgive them.

I have the same issue with another product. Same issue. Returned once a product, and the second time they have claimed that the product was damaged by me.

I am and will do. Already cancelled any other orders I have with them.

I got the manufacturer involved (as it happens that one of them was travelling for a conference from US to UK) and they offered to bring one replacement bracket for the PCI card (easily changeable - fixed with 2 screws). I obviously accepted this and kept the faulty product as it was but with a new bracket.

“Shocking delivery service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by toshtiger on 05/12/2017

Shocking delivery service where are hundreds of pounds worth of computer equipment were left in a green recycling bin outside of the property and was classed as safely and securely delivered. No options from the scan computer website for alternative delivery locations and have left me out of pocket by £200... Furious isn't the word... would never use again or recommend to anyone

“Refused a refund”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nwmbishop on 14/10/2017

Paid £2000 for a very high end laptop which had a fault. Tried to return it within 14 days but Scan requested additional testing. When I did return it after a further 14 days Scan refused to provide a refund because of the number of "power-ons" being too many. Dubious tactic on the part of Scan - ask the customer to do tests and then refuse a refund because of excessive use. I am now in legal dispute with Scan in order to get refund and have reported to credit card company (American Express) who are pursuing on my behalf. Great customer service (not).

Sold broken keyboard, forced to print off my own return document and package the goods to return. Told I would have to wait 4 days for a replacement, even though I paid £6 for next day delivery. Once they have your money customer service goes out the window.

“Terrible Customer Service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DomJansen92 on 28/03/2017

Purchased multiple terms from Scan on 08/03, totalling nearly £1,000. I received the items on 10/03 and noticed the a CPU fan pin was missing on the motherboard (there were only 3, not 4). Called scan on 11/03 to make them aware so I could get a replacement, I made them fully aware that I had tried to install it as well and was not made aware this would be an issue. Once they had received it, I got an email from them stating that they had "declined my warrenty" as there was apparently more damage to the motherboard than I had stated and also evidence of installation was there. I made them aware that I attempted to install it and they could not provide me of any proof of the other broken components so this was clearly just their way of getting out replacing/refunding the item. Spent a few days back and forth with Scan demanding my money back and all they offered is a possible repair at the cost of £25. If I accepted this, they wanted me to sign a waver to say I am happy that they may not be able to repair it and there is no timescale given even though I was in my legal right to get a refund. I therefore escalated the complaint to the retail ombudsman, but unfortunately they advised they were unable to help due to the lack of co-operation they have given in previous cases. I therefore escalated this to trading standards and citizens advice who did confirm I was legally entitled to a refund, so again went around in circles with Scan who kept saying I was in "breach of my warrenty". Luckily Scan are google certified, so I took my complaint up with Google.  They refunded me the £150 I had spent on this item after a few days of correspondence with them and advised they would chase Scan for the money. This has only been fully resolved on It seems Scan are happy to take your money but as soon as your receive a faulty item, they will do everything in their power to refuse a refund or help in anyway. I will never use Scan again!!

Excellent music computer supplied in 5 days. Get emails and photos of how the build is going. Prices for music computers are in line with others and the range of available products and the website are other reasons to use SCAN. Used customer services (phone and live chat) for product queries and were very good. Delivered efficiently by DPD

“Review of Scan ”

Never Again. Went to scan bought some expensive components, faulty and not for the first time and now I have having to change my computer due to scans tech department damaging my computer. I would never recommend scan as a company. It took over a week for them to finally get back to me and then was promised a call when I contacted them on Facebook but never got a call.

“NEVER AGAIN!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by IvanLazarov on 05/08/2016

I will never ever EVER!!! Buy from them again. My motherboard malfunctioned. One of the MOSFETs driving the CPU fan was damaged. I returned my £280 motherboard with 3 years warranty to them. Paid 10£ for express tracked delivery. Working as an engineer I am aware what exactly went wrong with the board...I packed the board with anitstatic bag, bubble wrap bag, damping foam, and stuffed the rest of the box with large industrial bubble wrap. When the board the arrived the RMA was rejected because of citing: "Scratches on PCB, one of which is going through a track. Rejected due to physcal damage, pics on RMA." N.B. THE BLACK HOLE IN THE BOARD DUE TO THE EVAPORATED TRANSISTOR WAS NOT EVEN MENTIONED IN THEIR "REPORT". The most "professional" evaluation I have ever seen in my life. :D They told me to contact the manufacturer directly and if I get their approval they would process the RMA. As instructed I contacted the manufacturer in Germany and provided the blurry "photos" from the "evaluation" mention above. As expected the manufacturer requested higher resolution photos because the provided ones were a joke. I contacted back the retailer and asked for more and clear photos however they refused to provide them and said that the board has already been prepared for shipping?!?! :D 3 days later I got my motherboard in the most ridiculous package you could imagine. I assume you read how carefully I packaged it above... The CPU guard is missing. There is dust inside the socket and 3 pins inside the socket are bent... The scratches they mentioned are barely visible: 1. One small scratch on top of the white audio LED strip - this is plastic cover not a copper track! 2. Small surface scratches on the ground plane around mounting hole MH7. Obviously from the screw which was used. Ground pour no conductors broken. 3. Small surface scratches on the ground pour around the electrolytic audio filtering capacitor CA24. Once again ground plane no conductors broken. Now my only option is to try to return it to the manufacturer directly because apparently Scan voided my warranty FOR SURE. If you need a fan, grease or accessory fair enough. But for anything valuable please do yourself a favour and use Amazon.

“Took Almost 2 weeks for a refund! AVOID!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by garnerwills on 08/07/2016

I purchased an expensive monitor from Scan, the delivery address changed back to an old address after my first card thought it was a scheme purchase. The second went through on that address. I realised immediately and called them as there is not a page that shows the address and click confirm order. They said they couldn't change it so was advised to cancel it over the phone and told to order again. I ordered again and it went through fine. The product arrived and noticed that I was charged twice. I was told to wait 3-5 business days for a refund from the first order. This didn't arrive after 5 days. I contacted them and they said they hadn't done something their own. I couldn't raise a complaint over the phone and was told to email. It was finally almost 2 weeks before finally receiving a refund for it and then my complaint email was finally responded to which was just a petty apology trying to blame me about the 3-5 days T & Cs. This was over 5 days so they were clearly in the wrong. They failed to admit that they were at fault and didn't compensate me for the time I have wasted speaking to multiple departments (CS and Payments) and the stress over the last 2 weeks in my bank overdraft worrying that my card would be rejected at the fuel pump. Shocking display of customer service which even the big companies such as Amazon are more understanding. I used to use Scan for all my hardware purchases but looks like I won't in future unless this is dealt with properly. In response to Scan's response on TrustPilot: I asked to cancel as soon as the order stated delivery to the wrong address, you would not have picked and packaged it in that 1 minute. I understand being charged for this. However you keep saying I should have received a refund in 3-5 working days. It took almost 2 full weeks for me to receive my refund and that was after chasing you up for payment. This is significantly longer than your stated 3-5 days. None of you listen to your customers. You may have some great experiences but the ones that are bad due to mistakes and errors are not dealt with effectively.

“Duplicate Order Nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jonnyrippon on 25/04/2016

We ordered 3 monitors, but got a website error and no confirmation. We ordered again, only to later find out the first one was also processed. Having received both orders, we requested a refund and free return. Customer service were shocking, blaming us for the error and refusing to acknowledge there was an issue on their side. We have to pay for postage and lug the heavy items to a collection point at the other side of the city. The whole process was stressful, time consuming and not customer friendly. We liked supporting a UK company, but will be forced to use amazon in future. Annoyingly, it was cheaper with amazon in the first place.

“I placed an order on the Scan website and arranged for...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RedSchuart on 09/03/2016

I placed an order on the Scan website and arranged for payment using their offered finance option. This approved within minutes, I paid my deposit and received email confirmation from the finance company that they had informed Scan computers that they could proceed with the order. After 24 hours of absolutely no response from Scan I sent an email asking what was happening and why they hadn't acknowledged my order. The response I received stated that they were still waiting for confirmation from the finance company. I replied that this had been done the day before. Their second reply was to tell me that all I had received was a standard email from the finance company and Scan were still waiting for "a few more bits" of information before they could proceed. I found this difficult to believe. I then sent an email to the CEO of Scan asking for clarification and at least an acknowledgement that my order had been received. I got no response. After a weekend of still receiving no contact from Scan I sent another email to the CEO. Again no response. I then called the finance company, V12, who were very helpful. They confirmed that they had authorised Scan to proceed with the order on the day I placed it. They even phoned Scan on my behalf and were told that one item was out of stock. I called Scan myself and was told that I had two accounts, one very old that for some reason my order had been applied to while the account I logged in to and used to place the order was not used! What a mess. I was told that the item was still not in stock and I may receive my order "sometime later in the week". So why wasn't told this when I first contacted Scan? Why was I lied to - twice - by Scan who tried to blame the finance company? Why have I had to send emails, make phone calls to resolve what is a problem with Scan's archaic system? Why have I received nothing from the CEO or the CEO's office, not even an acknowledgement? A dreadful experience. "Customer Service" is something Scan know nothing about.

“Wow. First and possibly last order at Scan Computers!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HHawk on 11/02/2016

I (had) to place an order with Scan Computers, because I couldn't get the case I wanted (Phanteks Enthoo Primo) anywhere else. Customer service (before, not after) was fine. Ordering went fast and shipping was also fast. However; when I received the shipment the box was badly damaged; even had holes in it (!) which were taped over. I took pictures and send them straight away to Scan Computers. I got a quick confirmation back about it and they wanted me to keep them in the loop, because I wasn't able to unpack the case at that time. Later on, when I finally could unpack the box, the case was luckily fine (for the most part at least). The top grill had some damage, but the main damage was on the corner of the windowed side-panel. I can "live" with the damaged top grill (though this obviously should not happen), but I cannot live with the damaged side window panel. I send a follow-up email earlier today with several pictures (including damages being marked), however I got no response back. Weird; the day before Scan was fast in answering, as were they when they wanted my money, but now? Nope, nothing, nada. Apparently customer support (afterwards) is mediocre at best at Scan Computers. I will await an answer or even better a solution from Scan Computers. If the solution is positive I will adjust or remove this review, but for the time being I will keep it posted so other people can read about this. Maybe I was just unlucky, but this case (in a damaged box) shouldn't have been shipped in the first place. Shipping back the whole case is not an option, because it's to expensive. I just want this solved accordingly by getting an original side window panel (and, if possible top grill) for my case, which are not damaged. A friend of mine asked if I had bought an used case. I told him this was a new case (or at least advertised as new on Scan's website), but he laughed at me. Says enough... :(
