Goodbye XP hello Windows 8!

A few weeks ago my employer broke the news that XP was no longer being supported by Microsoft and sent me on Windows 8 training. A nice cop out of real work for an afternoon until it dawned on me that the heaving sighing old relic in the corner of my living room was really ready for replacement. (no not my husband but my 10 year old Packard Bell currently running XP on a good day with the wind blowing in the right direction!) Speaking of my husband in years gone by he has always been a fan of Microsft Flight Sim but this always struggled a bit on the old machine. After looking at PCs in the usual retail stores I was distinctly unimpressed & ended up on the PC Specialist website. I'm no expert on PC lingo but the website went a long way to explaining the components that make up a decent machine. They have a section specifically for Flight Sim capable machines and after a few changes to components to suit my budget ( and some input from my well impressed 18 year old who I have now earned major street cred with) I placed my order. I was kept informed of the progress of my order every time the status updated and when my order was despatched I was sent an email with information on what to when I switched on my machine for the first time. I received regular emails/texts regarding delivery times and I received my PC within 3 weeks of the initial order...and what a beast it is!! I am sooo pleased with my new machine, it looks the business, runs Flight Sim with ease and the kids love not having to wait 2 hours for everything to load before doing homework. As a complete computer novice everything was simple to set up. My only small criticism is there were various components in the welcome pack and I didnt know what many of them were. Fortunately my son explained they were just spare cables etc but a list in the box explaining this would have been helpful. Apart from that I can honestly say I would never buy a PC from a high street retailer again. This PC was excellent value for money and came with additional support if needed. Nice job!
