“the worst buy ever”

I was in shock what have been sent to us....poor quality, different color, poor material etc.....just piece of shit....their customer service is completely blind. Ok where do I start they are terrible never ever ever consider purchasing any piece of clothing from these people. It comes in the wrong size, wrong colour, wrong shape, wrong material. I have asked many times for a refund but you dont give funds therefore there is no answer you can give me. How come you come across really nice on this review center yet when I talk to you through chat, you are rude, unhelpful and dont reply when you get fed up and better still you cut off the chat?

"We made your size according to what you left to us and also leave 2inch adjustment room for you as well. So we are unable to offer you a full refund, it is not our fault, we made the size telling by you, why we have to pay the mistake??? We can't make a full refund but a discount refund of 15 ponds maximum, thank you very much.

Wow lucky you. A lot of other people have not been so lucky. Please visit diydress reviews on fb to hear about other peoples experiences. We have received dresses that are different colours, do not fit (too small or too big) some badly made. The service we received was terrible.

They have sent me a dress that is too big and are unwilling to exchange or refund it. I have had it one day so I am in the time frame. They use a UK address but are not based in the UK which is misleading. Also on there website there are no negative comments but if you have a look on the internet you find plenty of bad reviews. I am so sorry that you also same as me with very bad experience
I requested their address to do formal complaint after 46 requests I got an email with the most shocking spelling and grammar advising they are in Hong Kong

I am seeking legal advice as I have 3 cheap and hideous dress that do not fit and I am worse off my £300. I think we all need to keep complaining and I am also looking at reporting them to trading standards and consumer programme.

I'm very sorry to hear that :-( have you contacted your bank? After my experience with them I have discovered that we do have the right for a refund. If you haven't already done so, phone your bank and quote the Distance Buying Regulation Act which protects you from situations like this and your bank should fight it for you.
My bank have given me the money back through the chargeback scheme whilst they fight it with them. It will take a while I presume but I will fight it tooth and nail before I see these people keeping my money for good.

I hope you get it sorted soon!

You were disappointed? I must say I was very disappointed to learn that my full refund wouldn't be given back to me only five days after I ordered it. I don't think you could even measure my disappointment in your company and in myself for not reveiwing your website thoroughly before purchasing from diydresses.

Your comment on 'exquisite workmanship" is laughable as the vast majority of your customers are dissatisfied with the quality of your workmanship. Your customers have clearly informed your company (time and time again) that your dresses are not of the same quality or indeed even resemble the dresses that they think they are buying from your company. You advertise dresses thare are clearly stolen images from authentic designers. Do you inform your customers of this before they buy your dresses? NO.

Maybe most customers would understand your policy a bit better if they knew exactly what they were buying and if they knew that what they were receiving was indeed what they had seen from your website.

I have received your email in my inbox but I did not like the tone of your letter. Im afraid I am not 'wasting my time' or your 'expensive' time when I am asking for my money back.
Nor will I 'save myself time' by leaving it.

I fully intend to pursure receiving my full refund, and I don't feel like I am wasting my time on getting back the money that I have worked hard for, without something to show for it.

As I have pointed out to you, you are working as a business and the most important people in your business are your customers (or should be). The only thinkg you are showing your customers is that you only want their money and that you are not considering their feedback. Evidence of this is the amount of peole who have negatively reviewed your website. Your 'policy' is worthless and unlawful.
Read the 'Distance Regulation 2000 Act' for online buying.
Your company is not exempt from this law.

As for your final comment of a 'big discount' your are delusional if you think I would EVER consider purchasing from your website again. And no I do not 'understand' your policy or your company's treatment of customers so there is no need to thank me.

Finally, to sum up your company and its dishonesty, I would just like to take this opportunity to tell customers exactly what tricks you get up to to make sure that people are not aware of dissatisfied customers:

DIY DRESSES posted the same robotic post that they do to all customers to show that they are actually carrying out some sort of customer service -except when I gave them my order number they FAILED to even email me with the 'help' that they promised.
Then DIY DRESSES reported my comment to administrators as being untrue and I have managed to prove it is an authentic complaint.
And to top it all off, the then DIYDRESSES contacted the administrators of the reviewcentre to tell them that they had been in contact with me and that I wished for my comments to be taken off their review website. ALL LIES!

Now if this doesnt show they have something to hide then...

Again, to potential customers, please DO NOT buy from this company unless you want weeks and months of hassle from uncaring and ignorant customer service advisors or indeed if you want a completely different dress from what you ordered.

Oh my Lord!!! I have just nearly ordered 4 bridesmaid dresses but decided to take a quick look online for reviews of the company. Are they really this bad?
Spending weeks looking online for dresses, I could tell straight away that the images on the website are not of there own dresses as I have seen the same images on other sites. I presumed that they just make the dress to the same style of the one in the image but would expect it to look the same, from reading these comments I am extremely hesitant in ordering anything online.

I am soon to pursue legal advice as despite my 32 requests for your full UK address to enable a formal complaint you still pursue me with hideous emails as above and keep asking me to measure the dress

You are not sorry otherwise you would have helped me weeks ago.

It is interesting that you only use the word 'sorry' when customers are writing truthful reviews about what to expect when dealing with your company. If you were sorry then you would change your customer service but instead people are complaining about the SAME things.
Where would you be without your customers? Absolutely no where and you know this. Yet you do not respect your customers.
The stress you have put me through under that past four weeks after losing all that money has been shocking. You are disgusting for treating people that way and you shouldn't be allowed to continue as a company.

You put on this false pretence on here that you care about your customers negative review. However it has taken the customer this far to write a bad review before you show any consideration for their situation but I imagine this is only for the benefit of future customers rather than the benefit of the complainer.

My order no is 100020733, but unless you intend to refund me with the full amount including delivery then don't bother emailing me back because I have had enough of your cheeky emails. Besides my bank are coming after you for the money anyway and I expect that this will be the only way I will ever see my money again.

I wrote this review not in hope of getting my money back (because after the past few weeks it has been made abundantly clear you have no intention of refunding it) but to warn any potential customers about what they are letting themselves in for.

It will be interesting though to see if your company has any shred of decency left and I intend to post what happens next...

Many sites all say the same thing because they are the LAW. This is what my bank will be explaining to you when they come for my money so perhaps you should read it beforehand. Your 'strict policies' are worthless because they are not LAWFUL.

Just wanting to put something here as I did the same mistake and ordered my wedding dress with them.

when I saw the dress in their website, I fell in love with dress. So without doing any research about the company, I just ordered the dress.

when finally it arrived , I was kind of shocked and couldn't believe what I'm seeing . The dress was too big and it had a detachable coat which was too short and couldn't even cover my bust. it had very bad quality and it seemed made by a very unprofessional tailor .

I tried to get a refund, but they just came back to me with funny excuses,lots of rubbish, and blamed me for giving them the wrong size. they even changed the dress name on their website (removed the detachable bit of the name) and said I asked them to made the coat detachable even though i had the confirmation email stating the coat is detachable .

hopefully someone will stop them from ripping off people very soon. I'm going to help this happen as I'm not giving up on my money.

“Go for a better quality service”

DIY Dress's customer service is bad and the dress doesn't look the same. I ordered a size 8 dress, which is advertised as having an 89cm bust. I took my measurements and my bust is exactly 89cms. When my dress arrived I couldn't even come close to doing it up and after some thoughts about getting it tailored here in the UK to avoid postage charges I thought I'd email DIY Dress. “Too big”

I paid extra to have the dress made to measure and it's still 2 inches too big around the bust and the straps are 2.5 inches too long. The dress is completely unwearable They're well made, but if the sizing is wrong, there's nothing that can be done. All that can be said in favour is that it was delivered on time. I ordered my dress in plenty of time, in there form they ask when the dresses is needed for. I got my dress the day BEFORE the date I had told them my wedding was. I ordered the size up from what I needed, ie a 20 when I needed an 18, it arrived 2 sizes too small. I contacted customer service immediately and they asked for all the size details of the dress. I have already dealt with your customer services. They were rude and unhelpful. I tried several times to get help. I no longer want anything to do with your company. I have taken the lose of my money and put your dress out of my view. It cause me so much distress dealing with your after service i ended up ill. I wrote my review as a warning to others. Having been through a similar incident, there are some steps you need to follow

1. Keep every email between you and Diy Dress
2. Get an independant dressmaker to compare the advertsied item and whatever rubbish they have sent you. Note they are very crafty as their sizing charts do not match the UK ones. Ask them for copies of their sizing in an email to use as evidence.
3. Contact your credit card about the transaction. They need to use the Chargeback scheme. They will ask you for evidence (see 1 and 2) and they will pursue the claim

They sent me the dress with different kind of fabric.
I sent them many times email, I sent photos but no use.
They said "the fabric is almost the same" so they refused to get the dress back, they refused to refund me !!!!!

“Absolutely Disgusted! Do not use this company.”

I ordered 3 bridesmaid dresses & even paid the extra to have them custom made. If you have any questions prior to making an order or at the time of making an order their customer service team are very helpful indeed! However when your order arrives and you are totally gutted at the state of what you receive, god help you when you try to get a refund. hi there,i also have had nothing but trouble with this company, you will NOT get a refund.ive been trying for ages as have dozens of other customers. one lady on here has emailed them 73 times!. we paid by visa thinking we were covered if anything went wrong. how wrong we were!
this company use a middle man 'moneybookers' to receive payment. so visa will not get involved. you have to contact the 'moneybookers' company and you will get no response whatsoever from emails there is no phone number for them. its truly disgusting.
i bought a ball gown for my daughter and paid extra for custom fit. it was supposed to be deep red chiffon with tiny silver sequins over. when it arrived it was the cheapest tackiest nylon youve ever seen, the sequins were MASSIVE like the kind you get on a door curtain. sewn inccorrectly and half of them missing. the zip was broken, the sash at the back was not central it is truly appalling. my daughter was heartbroken. it totally ruined her prom as obviously she couldnt wear it so we were left with only days to go rushing round trying to get another. ive had nothing but excuses. they want you to send the dress back AT YOUR OWN COST AND TRACKED so costing over £30 to do so. if you check back at the very older posts on here you will see that once they have a dress back they invent 'problems' such as 'smelling of perfume' or customers fault' or 'stained' e.t.c.
im now stuck with a rubbish dress that i wouldnt even be able to sell on ebay as its so bad!
the company know they can get away with it so they keep doing it.
its disgusting!

i left my email address and have had DOZENS of people contact me . not one has got their money back.i have written a review on here if youd like to read it.
i feel so sorry for you and for customers who are going to get stung by this unscrupulous, unprofessional company.

Thank you so much for your comments, coincidently I received a letter from my bank today saying exactly the same, that they are unable to get involved due to diydresses using 'moneybookers' & let's face it this is a very deliberate move on their part!!! I am going to go back to the legal advice service I approached initially today & speak to them about this.

I am prepared to have to come to terms with the loss of the money, I have had to pay several more hundreds of pounds for replacement dresses that aren't ideal as my bridesmaids aren't standard sizes & that is why I opted for custom fit dresses in the first place, due to how late on it is now I haven't got time to get the replacement dresses altered. What I really am not prepared to accept is the injustice of these people & the fact that they are allowed to get away with this! The upset this is causing people really is unacceptable. The rudeness showed by their staff via email I find totally insulting too. I have had nearly 50 emails back & forth & some of the comments they have made are unacceptable & personal about my bridesmaids & my ability to place an order.

I am 6 months pregnant & trying to organise a wedding & this was the last thing I needed, if I could do anything towards stopping this company being allowed to trade I would. The last correspondence I had from the company the offered me £20 off my next order! I wouldn't order another item from them if my life depended on it!!!

I am hoping that something can be done at some point about this company! I really hope that people take note of these reviews & don't risk placing an order like I did! As an intelligent person I feel totally embarrassed that I ordered from these people.

I will have a read of your original review - I wish I had done this before I placed an order...

Take care & hopefully people who have ordered & had such a bad experience from this company will be smarter shoppers in future & we won't fall for similar things again.

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to you. A similar situation happened to me earlier during the year. They offered me 5 GBP for my trouble. 5! after spending more than 120. I got my money back through the American Express legal claims, but they put me through a lot of hard work too, because it's a dress, and it is not easy to prove it is not fit for purpose. I had to go to a seamstress who works in a professional shop and get an evaluation letter, as well as send them pictures of what was advertised and what I actually received. My dress was so bad that the seamstress thought I had burned it with an iron. Reality was, patches of material were missing. So my advice is to not give up. I contacted customer advice bureau and left all the details of what happened to me with this company, and hopefully something will be done. Even if you don't get your money back, you should report the company just like I did. They must be stopped from treating their customers like this. If we don't do anything about it, they will carry on doing what they are doing.

hi hun im sending this on my partners behalf we have just used this site for a wedding dress the dress came and my partner said it was wrong colour and it was ripped and came in a small 4 by 4 bag it looked terrible did u get your money back if so how did u do it we have emailed them and we are getting no were, if u have any info could u plz email it me, my partner is devastated we have to now save money for anoughr wedding dress else were

Hello, I would love to say I got my money back to give you some hope but no I haven't. Due to the company using 'money bookers' my credit card company wouldn't pursue the case. If you read the comments above though it would seem that she managed to get her money back even though the process wasn't easy. It does disgust me that this company are getting away with it but they are. Sorry that the same thing has happened to your partner.

A lot of credit card companies will pursue this. Tesco did it for me and I know of others using Barclaycard who were also successful in their claims.

The key to success is to have as much evidence against them in the forms of emais (yes I know they are frustrating but keep persisting to tell them its wrong, sooner of later they will make a mistake and admit something) and also get an independent assement of the goods.

I'm not gloating, but I have got my money back and I know a number of other who have too. The thing is to be persistent, it took me 4 months and resorted to having independent reviews of their awful dress, but eventually I did get my money back. Fortunately I only had my daughters prom dress (we did get a new one from Coast, bit more but much nicer) but I feel sorry for people organising weddings etc

I cancelled my order of two bridesmaid dresses today, 5 days after purchasing them online. After reading lots of reviews about people receiving poorly made dresses I decided to cancel the order before I received the dresses to hopefully try and save me a lot of hassle trying to get them sent back. How wrong was I?!

I have been told that I can cancel my order but I won't receive any refund, only my £20 for the delivery.

Now I am faced with losing my money through cancelling the items, or losing my money because the dresses will most probably be of no use to me.

I paid for the items using barclaycard credit card and your comment about customers being successful with barclaycard has given me a bit more hope in this situation. Unfortunatley today is Sunday and the department is shut, so now I need to stew until tomorrow and probably wont get a winks sleep.

I cannot believe that they think they can get away with this!
I only wish I searched a little deeper before purchasing the dresses. I did look into them a little but all I found were positive comments.

I was wondering if you had any information on how the barclaycard customers managed to get a refund?
The DIYDresses sellers claim that they clearly state that after 24 hours customers cannot get a refund and I am worried that as they state this then I will have to comply with it and hence lose my money!

Same problem here too.. 2 dresses ordered both size 10, but they are completeley different sizes, nothing like the colour we ordered and look terrible.. looks like we are going to be fobbed off just like everyone else.. this is disgusting and surely there must be something that can be done about this company,, i would never have ordered if i had known the company was not in the uk.. this is very missleading..

id just like to say you are EXTREMELY lucky if this is the case.

I know I am extremely lucky. I was waiting with dread for the delivery. I only read their reviews after I placed the order. I get the impression that they realised that a scheme has a limited lifetime, and they attempted to rescue their operation. No doubt that if their reputation get too bad they can always open up under another name. I contacted them immediately after placing the order telling them about my concerns. They pleaded for a good review and promised that the dress will be of good quality. I feel very sorry for all the other people who have been affected - this was a close shave and in future I will be more careful where I buy from.

Hi, I am very surprised by your review. As she said, you must be extremely lucky. You mentioned that the price you paid was a third of what you have paid in the UK for it. That's similar to what the customer support told me when I complained about the quality of the dress I received. He said I shouldn't complain since I only paid a fraction of what I would have paid for it in the UK. But reality is, for the 120 GBP I paid overall with taxes,because it was shipped from China, I actually would have gotten a much better one from French Connection or KM. And this is what I ended up doing in the end.

I too am having trouble getting a refund. The dress arrived late and is awful. NOTHING like the picture and very poor quality, not too mention huge. It looks like a child has made it. I am going to trading standards if I don't receive a refund. I will not be ripped off.

Having been through a similar incident, there are some steps you need to follow

1. Keep every email between you and Diy Dress
2. Get an independant dressmaker to compare the advertsied item and whatever rubbish they have sent you
3. Contact your credit card about the transaction. They need to use the Chargeback scheme. They will ask you for evidence (see 1 and 2) and they will pursue the claim

It's worked for me and a number of others

Ordered 3 dresses, all of which were finished to an appalling standard. The length of 2 of them were uneven, both randomly shorter on the right side(?!). Zip doesn't do up on another. Hi Ladies, thank you so much for taking the time to post you're appalling experiences whilst dealing with them. I came very close to ordering what looked like a pretty dress for daughters prom but after checking reviews, I swiftly left their site.
Took my daughter to a professional ball gown shop, tried on the different styles, researched some quality brands & brought her a stunning Crystal Breeze dress off eBay for £50 - 100% stunning and fabulous quality.

So sorry for you all having such a disappointment from these clowns and my very best luck to you getting you're money refunded.
