banjollica's review of DIY Dress www.diydress.co.uk

★★★★☆

“Phew, what a relief!”

Written on: 27/06/2013 by banjollica (1 review written)

Ordered from DIY Dresses with some trepidation because of the reviews, and the ones after I ordered were even worse! My expectations were low because of this and because of the low prices compared with British-made goods. However, my dress arrived today and I am so relieved that it is really very nice. It is well made, with beautiful detailing, fully lined and has a built-in petticoat. There are some negatives - the colour (champagne) is deeper than I expected, but as I don't have to match it to anything else, that's not too important. It arrived scrunched up in a small bag rather than in a box and will need pressing and hanging to get rid of the wrinkles. It is rather tight, so no chance of easing up on the diet over the next few weeks! The net covering is a bit disappointing - the detailing on it (flowers and beads) is exquisite but it is spoilt by being simply cut very roughly at the bottom. Again, this doesn't worry me too much as I can fix it easily. Overall, I'm just relieved that I've got a dress that looks good and is wearable, when so many customers have not. On the basis of my dress I would recommend this company to other people, but I've marked that I wouldn't because it is clearly a gamble and with hindsight it was probably not a good idea to order something as important as a wedding dress over the internet.
