“Not a clue”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 120Haley on 29/12/2021

My engine went on my van in April 2021. Was quoted for a new engine. Had my van almost 3 months. Since then been back in and out 4-5 times. Finally got it back and running fine. A month in the ‘reconditioned’ engine blew up. Now can’t get hold of the guy and I’m almost 3 grand out of pocket. A similar experience to buying an engine from a gypsy site. Avoid like the plauge

“Replacement van engine”

★★☆☆☆

written by moleandre on 30/08/2021

No issues with the original purchase of the engine. After two months it failed completely, which was within the three month warranty period. I had spend £1300 on postage and installation etc, so getting a replacement (which eventually I did) was only partially cutting a massive loss and waste of time. My requests for a refund were ignored. I could give 247 the benefit of the doubt for all this - they may well have sold the original engine in good faith, and refunds are not normally part of a warranty, so this much I am willing to accept as bad luck from my point of view. However, the customer service is another matter. Their website promises 100% satisfaction, but their commitment to it is non existent. More than once I sent messages which were ignored. When I did get through on the phone, they were unhelpful, dismissive and unreliable. The boss would call me tomorrow - no call. Engine will be sent tomorrow - no engine. Even getting basic information, like the mileage on the replacement engine, was given up grudgingly. Communicating with this company was drawn out and stressful, a bit like pulling teeth.

“rip off”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dalby1975 on 03/11/2014

Avoid, paid them over £2000 for a new engine, many trips later and its still not fixed properly, I would say its worse than when it went in. Apparently knocking, black and white smoke constantly perfectly normal. I dont think. Total rip off artist. Happy to take your money but do not know what they are doing. I now have a broken car and out of pocket. Trading standards need informing. Also known as engine recon on ebay.

written by on 05/11/2013

My Dad paid £1400 to have a rebuilt engine on his Toyota. Was more than hard work to get the var back. Engine blew up after driving 14 miles. Had 2 independents look at the car... both said the old engine hadn't been taken out. Going to cost another £1,500 to get sorted out. Can't get the money back. Do not use these people. They have also set up under other companies, so just be careful

Seemed very helpful, spent £1500 on recon engine for my L200 only to find all they had done was botch my old engine which lasted for 800 miles. No reply to recorded delivery letters sent or phone calls. Also trading as engines-express. From doing my research I now have other means of contacting them.. Also trading on EBay as enginerecon

Oh gosh they are a real class I cheat
When you ring for any problem within 1 day of of paYING £1400-1500 they guy will pretend he is busy, then next day on chasing he will say I am sending a van to pick up your car, you take a day off to wait in the property; he will repeat it several times, only after 5-6 times you realise that this guy is a pathological liar AND HE MAKING A FOOL OF YOU,THE VAN WILL NEVER COME TO COLLECT YOUR CAR

STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

They might change numbers BUT NEVER EVER GO TO THEM TO GET YOUR CAR REPAIRED

“Not worth a star!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/07/2013

DO NOT use this company! 247 engines.com replaced my engine and left me with over £400 worth of work needed to make it road- worthy afterwards. They had left the prop shaft unsealed and about to seize, brake cables joined with cable ties and several severed bolts in the fittings. Two weeks after paying for the work, my car wasn’t going to be returned, so I ended up travelling over 100 miles to recover it, to find it in a disgusting state, needing three hours of work to get it clean enough to sit in. They had used over half a tank of fuel, driving my car around, leaving grease and oil stains all over the cloth interior, including the roof! I am still trying to recover all this additional expense, having paid them over £1700 and all correspondence is being ignored, I will have to resort to the small claims court to stand a chance of getting anything back. Having got the car working, I am still left with a severe oil leak, as all engine seals are leaking and no means of getting it sorted out, as their guarantee isn’t worth the pixels it takes up on the screen!

“247engines.com”

written by Tree123 on 10/05/2013

The website gives impression they give professional service and guarantee. Facts are they collected vehicle and fitted engine to my sons van. On returning home found major oil leak and not running correctly Contacted 247 engines and was advised they would rectify. Vehicle would require recovery back to them. 247 engines advised on many occasions they had someone in area and would collect but never did. They then advised have oil leak repaired by local garage and they will pay. On advising 247 w Engines they advised will pay money into sons account and stated in bank paying it now but it has yet to arrive. Calls from my son his mother and myself to 247 engines are greeted with phone disconnecting within a minute and no questions put to 247 engines answered. I also emailed 247 engines at start of problem nearly 2 months ago and still have no response. The garage that rectified engine found crank case seal not fitted correctly and exhaust had not been removed and refitted correctly. Injectors also damaged although can not say that was down to 247 engines but can say working correctly prior to engine being fitted. There was also diesel leak after engine fitted.
