“Advertised my car for sale with these Idiots. Dealers...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rober1968 on 23/02/2024

Advertised my car for sale with these Idiots. Dealers bid to buy your car apparently? And then come to collect it, except when they arrive 10 days later there has been no sale and they send a mechanic to look over your 8 year old car with a fine tooth comb like it has just arrived off the production line.. The only loser in this set up is the seller ( that's why it's free), Dodgy second hand dealerships put handsome bids in for your car thinking it might of been owned by a grandma and stored in an air tight garage for its entire lifetime. Then there side kick mechanic turns up for his little fee and rips your vehicle to pieces with allegations of non existent problems. So in summary, dodgy second hand car dealer puts in handsome bid for your car and secures the deal, you think you have sold your car but you haven't, dodgy mechanic comes out for his little fee, dodgy second hand car dealer realises that they can't make any money out of buying and selling your car because it hasn't been stored in a time capsule, but it's only cost them £50 to send the dodgy mechanic out when he's trawling your area. Joke that some get rich quick nob head thought up I'm afraid!!

“Carwow have been excellent for us”

★★★★★

written by Rowenk221 on 02/11/2022

We're very happy with Carwow, having gone through the sale process of our 3-year old SEAT Leon it went smoothly and we got our expected price. Previously we had tried Motorway, they gave us a good evaluation but the actual offer was very poor. So the comparison between these two companies is huge. We can thoroughly recommend Carwow and recommend to avoid Motorway.

“Under prices your Car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Caelm16 on 31/07/2022

Be very careful. I put my car details in on Carwow & they underpriced my car between £20⁰0 & £3000 compared to Confused.com & Motorway. They underprice your car the same way WeBuyAnyCar. If your car is in good working condition & has been looked after, you will make more money by selling privately the way the market is at the moment!

“CarWhatAnAbsoluteJoke!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dale-icious on 18/06/2022

For anybody considering selling their vehicle via CarWow, I'd suggest that you seriously reconsider. Firstly, the price that was offered from CarWow was considerably more that it's competitors; however, there's a cost to this - you're at the mercy of flaky dealerships that don't honour their purchase, resulting in relistings; a lengthy wait from the time of sale to pick-up; and not actually receiving payment at the time of pick-up; all of which happened to me. Selling through CarWow may look appealing at first, but it just isn't worth it.

“when something goes wrong.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 123dhills on 26/09/2020

when something goes wrong carwow does not know how to address the problem. They send you a deal and guide you to a dealer. You read through the details of the car they have chosen for you. You go to the dealership who doesn't have the same details you've been given. To give you an example the salesman tells you that you have two choices. a) You can have the saving from carwow £167 (I was told £215 from carwow). or b) You can have £500 from one of our partners but you have to buy the car now. The problem with this is that Evans Halshaw does not have the Glacier White I was given with carwow and I would have to choose a colour and this would cost £560 so this would wipe out the £500 and I would owe £60 There's more but its too depressing, the reason I am writing this review, do not buildup your hopes until you have dealt with the dealership. Complain to carwow you are only given a survey to fill in.

“Brought a new with 10 miles on the clock Land Rover...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Crouch428 on 10/09/2017

Brought a new with 10 miles on the clock Land Rover from SALTASH in Cornwall £32,000 advertised on carwow paid deposit then what a surprise they rang the next day to say their was a small problem ( As in tiny in their eyes ) the car did not have a factory fitted sat nav as is in the carwow ad. I said to the salesman fit one he said he could not and that I COULD buy a tom tom etc. I was in shock 2 things I wanted was the colour ordered ( GREY ) and a sat nav. He rang again and said he was going to make good as it was a marketing error. He came back with another car ( DARK BLUE I ASK YOU ) registered 4 months earlier with 3,000 miles on it but said it's GOT A SAT NAV. I turned it down he went on to say he now knew what I wanted like he did not after placing an order said he would try his best to find WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR AND THAT WAS HIS LAST WORDS. One (1) hour latter he emailed saying he refunded my deposit. Since then not he or anyone from the garage has contacted me plus failed to answer emails since. The arrogance and complacency of the person which must be deep rooted throughout the company. After paying the deposit I went on line and put my personalized number on retention cost £80 paid a further £20 to admin to my insurance company to alter the details of my old car + another £30 for the new plates. Don't trust this DEALERSHIP AS YOU COULD LIKE ME BE OUT OF POCKET A LOT OF MONEY FOR ( NOTHING )

“Promise the earth but deliver nothing”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TanyaGriffin358 on 05/09/2017

So I thought I'd give CarWow a try and entered a build for a new car. They came back wih five very decent offers and it was time to follow up on them. The garage I contacted was fairly local but failed to respond to any enquiries and faile dto return any calls. The second was repsonsive initially but after two days I chased them and they came back with the blank repsonse of 'I'm sorry but we can't help you'. After some probing it seemed they could only honour the 'offer' on a car to be delivered this year and guess what - they could find no build slots until January! No real logic to any of this other than maybe they aren't waht they seem. As a tool for getting your hopes up and wasting time it's fine, but if you want to buy a car talk to your local dealer. As the old saying goes, if it looks too good to be true it probably is!

“Had a problem ,very slow response by carwow”

★★☆☆☆

written by Richard1968 on 15/02/2017

Daughter traveled out of the area to get a great deal but the garage had no record of our appointment made by carwow, then the dealership didnt seem familiar with carwow we wer`nt made aware that the discount was dependent on my daughter having the 3 year pcp plan instead of the 4 year plan that she ended up having, she ended up dropping most of the exras she wanted. I asked carwow to look into this deal it took them 10 days and me doing the chasing for them to tell me about the pcp deal being the wrong length of time by this time it was too late to cancel without losing my deposit. The discount should have been £2,686 she got £2,238.33 (£447.67 less than expected)

“carwow is NOT free!”

★★★☆☆

written by arjaydubya on 08/06/2016

I selected my car from a list of half a dozen offers from local dealers, and picked up my brand new vehicle today. I have to say I'm rather disappointed to find the the dealer added £350 to my invoice for carwow. (At least no VAT on it) Perhaps I'm a bit naive, but I had assumed that the dealers would absorb this charge in return for wider circulation of their offers and potentially more sales. All carwow does is save you from trudging around various dealerships. Does anyone else feel aggrieved like me?

“Nobody actually pays the manufacturers RRP!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Demetrius276 on 31/05/2016

I got 5 offers within hours of posting my spec requirements. I'd shopped around beforehand so I had a good idea of what was on offer from other dealerships locally and how much I could expect to pay. Carwow dealers offer discounts on the manufacturers RRP. Anyone with half a brain will know that nobody ever pays the RRP. This is used as a ploy to inflate the 'savings' you will make. I ended up going to a local dealership and got a better spec at the same price offered by the cheapest Carwow dealership. I wouldn't bother with Carwow to be honest. Shop around and develop a good relationship with your local dealership. It's in their interest to retain your custom.

“Nightmare, gave up”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PeteBrason on 26/03/2016

Buying a secondhand car should not be this difficult, we were meet by a friendly gentleman who asked what we were looking for, but then it went downhill from there! Test drive? Yes no problem but first it seems you have to agree to the deal first! When trying to arrange the said deal they would not give us any prices, just how much it works out a month! Thankfully we are switched on enough to work out the deal was the worst I have ever come across, so much for the statement we could not get a better deal anywhere else! I think every deal would be better than there suggestion, needless to say we gave up and never even got chance to test drive it!

“Great experience and good discount so far with carwow”

★★★★★

written by dhenryuk on 24/02/2016

I will post another review when I've picked up the car but the experience so far has been top class! The website is easy to navigate and understand. I've just bought a VW Sharan at £31k list (inc options) for £24k. 4 of the 5 offers I got the same day of inputting data were within £500 of this offer so not bad. Tried 3 local dealers in Herts and Beds to price match and they couldn't get close although Letchworth did try compared to the other two. I went with a dealer in Kent in the end (50 miles from me) as was cheapest. Ordered over the phone and within a day received all paperwork through email to sign and order number to track on VW website. All very professional and dealer pleasant to deal with. The only downside is the 16 week lead time but I was quoted that and more at the local dealers so this was to be expected. As soon as I've picked up new car I'll post another review on how I got on at other end of process. Overall though very impressed so far!

“Not a Lot of Discount For Me But Worth a Try”

★★★☆☆

written by DixieCunningham253 on 16/01/2016

I tried carwow as I was looking at purchasing a new Volvo. Maybe it was just the car that I chose, but it was only an OK experience and did not make me want to use their dealers. Anyway, they agree to get you "up to" 5 offers. The majority of offers I got back were at the carwow RRP (i.e no discount), therefore not a lot of point in this excercise. Some did offer a discount on the carwow RRP, however it would be nice to know if others would but it would appear once you get 5 offers they stop looking. As far as I can see if the first 5 back are carwow RRP then not a lot you can do except go back to phoning dealers yourself or try the search again. Note I say the "carwow" RPP, because after adding on the options that I wanted on the car it was magically a bigger RRP than from the official Volvo site, I guess a problem with their system somewhere, but be careful as your discount of RRP might not be as big as you think! Also when configuring your car it would be nice to include notes with the enquiry so that you could tell dealers that you would consider slightly different spec cars if they had them available from new car stock rather than factory order. Anyway, I would try it again but think it still needs refining as a service.

“New Peugeot”

★★★★★

written by byGarner126 on 10/04/2015

The service provided is no nonsense and I recommended it to other people to use as it is so easy and hassle free. Do not get nuisance calls or emails to chase up on quotes etc... so free to contact the dealers as and when I needed to. The carwow website is certainly one I would recommend.

“Advertising prices they can't offer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/02/2015

Find them advertising on honestjohn new car deals. Advertising Citroen C4 grand Picasso at huge discount. On receiving quotes all quotes were lower by many thousands at the cash discount offered. Their dealers try to sell you finance to get further discount but they are advertising a cab discount. On checking revirws on tristpilot they are paying these people to post revirws, posters have stated this... Waste of time ...

“Nice site but the Showrooms just quote on anything ”

★★☆☆☆

written by jfPowers407 on 08/02/2015

Have put on a couple of quotes for a Renault Megane, it turns out they quote on any car regardless of whether its available. Once you enquire it changes as they cant get the car you want and they offer you another one, this is with several garages and one even tried to sell me a second hand car at a more expensive price to the Brand new one, i've use on line brokers before but not this one. The site is good but theres no point unless the garages honour the prices, the garage tonight offered me may delivery on a car Renault dont even make anymore

Sarahcarwow's Comment

Written on: 17/02/2015

Hello,

Thanks for letting us know.

We do our best to remove models from the site as soon as they are no longer available to order, but unfortunately this does occasionally occur.

We take customer service very seriously and regularly suspend dealers who do not uphold our strict customer service standards. If you wouldn't mind emailing us with the name of the dealership(s) this occurred with, we'll look into the matter.

We hope you'll consider us in the future!

Thanks,
Sarah

“Buying new car”

★★★★★

written by Campbell5649 on 29/07/2014

Have just used Carwow to buy my new car . Was supplied with various dealers who gave me quotes and full descriptions of the model that I required. All gave me full details on the finance and trade in value of my vehicle. This was reasonable in all cases except one, who offered a good discount then made a trade in value of nearly half my car's worth to make up for his discount. Needless to say I removed him from my list of dealers (York). Be aware! In conclusion buying my car from the dealer that I selected was an easy and painless experience. I have no hesitation in recommending Carwow to anyone contemplating buying a new car. Have shared my experience with my friends.

“Fantastic savings”

★★★★★

written by on 02/12/2013

I went to my local Skoda dealership to see if I could negotiate a part exchange For my nearly new Octavia, for a new Skoda Rapid. Alas they were not interested in giving me any offers or discounts. Went home and browsed the Webb and found Carwow, put in the details and was asked what make and spec of car I wanted.Within three days I received four dealer offers on the car I wanted. I Selected Alex Lawrie in Liverpool who was offering a discounted price saving of £1800, I opted for the offer with this dealer and all ran very smoothly from start to finish. My new Skoda Rapid is great all thanks to Carwow and Alex Lawrie.
