“Does what it says on the tin!”

Written on: 12/08/2014 by Kenyon183 (1 review written)

I ordered an iPad Air. It arrived within 4 business days. Yes, I had to pay import (VAT) duty on it but that was made perfectly clear before I bought it. Sadly, few people seem to read the detail and only focus on the headline and then are surprised when they are asked to pay import duties. The product was still £40 less than in the UK… Read Full Review

“Incompetent”

“Hidden import charges from a .co.uk website!!!”

Written on: 16/07/2014 by Matt_Statter (1 review written)

DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They sell themselves as a .co.uk company but they will hit you with massive hidden importation and duty fees, also DHL add a bit on top for themselves as an admin fee - they must both be in this big scam together. When I explained my unhappiness with these added charges they referred me to a couple of points that they had written on their T&C's. Here's my point, when I buy from someone like Amazon.co.uk I don't feel the need to go looking for any information on… Read Full Review

“Two purchases so far more to come from me”

Written on: 10/07/2014 by Daleyap170 (1 review written)

Firstly bought the Samsung S3 7" tab lite as a test purchase to see what the service was like. Ordered on the Friday and 6 days later the courier was making a delivery. Very happy. So I then ordered the Canon 70D with a 18-55 IS STM lens on the following Friday and 9 days later or 6 working days, which was actually 5 working days in HongKong, my new camera arrived. Saved over 400 Euro compared to Irish prices. Questioned the need for id to be produced initially, but blanked out account… Read Full Review

I note that you mention Ireland - it will not be so good once your Customs cotton on to the crime that this company is perpetrating. In the UK all their shipments are under scrutiny due to undervaluing and missdescription.

“Hidden Charges and false promises”

Written on: 17/06/2014 by ReganWelch (1 review written)

This is the worst online store I have ever used. I was not made aware that I would have to pay customs charges as the product was coming from China. This amounted to £59. I emailed EGlobal about this and they said they would pay these charges. I forwarded them on the customs letter from DHL. I then recieved anther letter from debt collectors acting on DHL's behalf who said the charge was £100 which I had to pay before it escaled. EGlobal have stopped replying to my emails. DO NOT USE THIS… Read Full Review

“Hidden costs, rip off.”

Written on: 16/06/2014 by bingoben (1 review written)

As many other customers have found, this company looks like a uk company, but is actually in Hong Kong. Their prices look good, but before your item is delivered you will have to pay import taxes, which are buried in their terms and conditions. In my case this added £56 to the price. I believe they are acting within the law, but are sneaky little.......(insert your own expletive). Avoid this company… Read Full Review

“Beware hidden charges - not UK based despite the .co.uk ”

Written on: 08/06/2014

Beware - Not UK based despite the .co.uk web address. You will get hit for 20% VAT, plus £10 admin fee from the courier, plus any applicable import duty AND if anything goes wrong, you'll have to pay for carriage back to Hong Kong for the item to be fixed, as there is no UK guarantee. All of this is in the terms and conditions, but buried deep in the small print… Read Full Review

“TERRIBLE”

Written on: 04/06/2014 by CasonShields213 (1 review written)

Avoid like the plauge. These guys have tons of hidden charges, i've been charged over 100 pounds for them sending me a camera and then requesting 120 pounds extra, i've not paid the extra 120 for import and i've still ended up over 100 pounds out of pocket. This must be how they make their money, scamming people. I'd NEVER use this company again and i'd NEVER recommend to anyone, even my worst enemy. STAY AWAY - IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… Read Full Review

“Danger”

Written on: 30/05/2014 by Fraser204 (1 review written)

My camera arrived in UK but FedEx called to say customs were suspicious of declared value of £79 although I had paid £300. I declined to pay extra so sent it back but they refused to refund carriage charge but I eventually got it back from my credit card issuer although it took 3 months. Of course it could have been a genuine mistake and I might have got the duty back but I later found others had a similar experience. A risky choice… Read Full Review

“terrible services and hidden taxes!”

Written on: 29/05/2014 by ytWeaver1988 (1 review written)

Be aware of hidden taxes they do not inform us about and their delivery company they use is poor as well. “Price you see is not what you pay”

Written on: 28/05/2014

Bought a nexus 7 2nd generation 16GB for aTOTAL of £141.99 clearly displayed by eGlobal site. However on delivery we were asked to pay £137 Custom on top which was a shock as it was not clear from their site . In fact bought the same from a uk site for much cheaper and better service. When we rejected the item eGlobal are refusing to refund our money without making whatever deductions they think satisfactory to them. Do not be fooled by their slightly reduced price because you will probably… Read Full Review

“Be warned!”

Written on: 26/05/2014 by hollandje (1 review written)

Warning! Product and service all fine, but realise that products are shipped from overseas (ie Hong Kong) and hence a few months after you have received your product you will receive another hefty VAT and duty levy invoice. When I contacted them about this and told them that after this eGlobal becomes one of the most expensive online stores, I just got the message that this is part of their business model and was mentioned in their terms. Be warned… Read Full Review

So sorry you have had a similar experience to mine. I have contacted my credit card company to voice my concerns that they do not ban this type of company. If everyone did this I feel sure they would stop paying them and in that way the company would alter its ways. I am waiting for a reply from one of the managers. I should have used Amazon..now they do the job right. Hope you contact your credit card company to have a go at them. Cheers Ian Andrew

“rip off company”

I became involved with these robbers about 2 weeks ago. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. There is no mention of an extra charge when you hit the buy button then a couple of days later an automatic phone call from DHL wanting £36 before they will del. Up to now I cannot get out of the deal. I have complained to my credit card company and hope they withhold payment of £136 (the price I THOUGHT I was paying I have also contacted DHL suggesting that they should not deal with these robbers. “Beware, you'll be hit with Duty & VAT prior to delivery”

Written on: 21/05/2014 by DMackerUK (1 review written)

Prices are good at point of sale, and the item was dispatched promptly, but what this company fails to make clear is that they are based in Hong Kong so the co.uk website is somewhat misleading. Also it doesn't make clear that prices are pre Duty & VAT so when importing to the UK it costs. I had to pay Duty @ 6.70%, VAT @ 20% + DHL admin fee so this made a £333.99 lens actually cost £434.99 which is £36.99 more expensive than I could have picked it up in the UK. Alright, £36.99 is not a… Read Full Review

I have just gone thru' the same experience. I have complained to the credit card company and to DHL the del.company as they are encouraging this type of business. I am waiting on the manager from the credit card company to advise. I don't hold much hope as they have you over a barrel. But if everyone did the moaning in the right area it MAY stop the payments being made. I cannot see how you have rated them 2 stars when they are so poor.

“What rubbish”

I have just experienced this and am really cheesed off. The web site misled me into believing that it was a UK site co.uk etc and I never for one minute even thought I would be then paying more for my camera than I could have bought it for on Amazon and other sites. Since its distributed from Hong Kong DHL wont deliver my camera until I pay import duty, vat, and DHLs admin fees, this makes the camera I bought £25 more expensive than buying in the UK and over my budget. Sorry to hear of your problem. I have taken my problem to my credit card company and I have complained to DHL and they have heard it all before !
I am waiting to hear from a manager from the credit card company but do not hold out much hope. I know that they wouldn't have paid them yet and if they didn't pay them it MIGHT just alter the way they do business. Really poor companies and that applies to DHL and eglobal. They give the internet a bad name. I was wondering how you gave 3 stars for their website when they don't tell you of the extra charges on the last page ?

“eGlobaL review”

Written on: 17/05/2014 by Blevinslh178 (1 review written)

I have been completely cheated into believing they are a UK retailer! They use a UK domain name - a deception, to gain people's trust knowing Fair Trading rules will not apply to them because they are hidden away in a different continent! Their prices are not ridiculously low to arouse a suspicion as you do sometimes get bargains from legitimate UK retailers. Who reads Terms & Conditions when made to think you're probably buying from a neighbour? You buy from from them thinking that's all… Read Full Review

Sorry to hear of your problem. I have also suffered. I have complained to my credit card company and phoned DHL to complain and have written a negative report about DHL on this review board.
If everyone complained to their credit card company then they MIGHT just do something about them. Like not paying them.
I am waiting to hear from a manager from C/c company ...am hoping they will stop the payment.

“Hidden charges, mislead customers & charge for retutns”

Website misleads customers in FREE SHIPPING and prices are so cheap on website because they don't include VAT/CUSTOM DUTY. take the matter up with your credit card company. I have and am waiting to hear their response. They wouldn't have paid them at this stage so they MIGHT just not pay them if there is a big enough noise. I have threatened to close my card and move some where else. We will see if that works.
