I ordered a digital camera through eGlobal website mainly because of a good price. After I placed my order I learned they require copy of my ID and a bill sent to my address to verify my order. I found this to be far beyond online shop standard practice, as it looks like someone in Hong Kong is creating a nice big database with private data from European customers...
I refused to provide these data and exchanged a number of emails figuring out, how else can I verify my order. After a week long email conversation, we settled for a copy of my credit card, with middle 8 digits covered, and my phone bill.
When they processed my order I received the camera in 2 days, which is impressive.
So eGlobal central can be trusted to deliver goods, but in my view should rethink what information they ask for their clients. I really hope I am not the only one who finds this verification practice strange.
