I bought my 1995 Honda Dominator new in 1995, and now it has 80 000km on the clock. I have serviced it regularly through Honda dealerships, and although it required the steering bearings replaced twice it required virtually nothing else until now. It has seen many bad dirt roads, river crossings and soft sand, in the Australian Outback and in the mountains, but also many highway kilometers. It's fairing got cracked after hitting a car in South Africa in 1998 and I had to fix it properly now in 2015 as it had become too rattly. The gear lever loosened 4 years ago but I tightenend the hell out of it onto the shaft with a high tensile bolt and it's never moved since. It's completely original. Now the seat has started to crack and the indicators' rubber required replacing these. The only real problems I had were all electrical from gadgets that I had fitted myself. I thought I should sell it after 20 years but can't find anything that's close as good in build quality and weight and performance. There may be 5% extra kW and 5% better fuel consumption but all bikes now weigh more. Eventually I found I can't part from it anymore until it dies...

The Honda nx650 Dominator is a great bike as an all rounder. The engine is tried and tested. (Old XL engines) Its sturdy build has no problems to speak of. Cult classic. Top end is a little slow, 80 mph is about it, without different sprockets. It has heaps of power for city or semi off-road. All in all, I've had the bike for 4 years and have no plans to get rid of it soon.

The Honda NX650 Dominator is a very comfortable bike to ride. The downside is, in my experience the plastics tend to crack. Overall excellent bikes, reliable and fun to ride.

Great on and Off Road, Recomended. Solid, upright, easy to handle single pot thumper with the bulletproof 650 engine. Not the fastest bike in the world but it will pull your house off its foundations if you ask it too. The engine is a toned down version of the XR650R I think its just a different carb, but still an animal.

I have only owned this bike for 3 months and love it. I was fortunate enough to get it in immaculate condition with only 5,700 miles on the clock guaranteed. I use it daily to travel from Fife to the Lothians, which it does with ease. It is just as much at home in traffic as it is on the open roads. My other bike is a GS500 which cannot hold a candle to the Big Dom.

The Honda NX650 Dominator is great for cruising the back roads of the U.K., with good views over the hedging and fields due to the seating position. All the nuts and bolts that come into road and air contact should have been better galvanised for better weather protection, as they have now become very rusty. There should have been a wheel mud guard fitted at factory, as all road muck is thrown into and against the rear damper and exhaust piping. This means that all components in this area requires a lot of cleaning to preserve the bike for future sale. Also a center stand should have been an optional extra when buying new.

I love my NX650 Dominator because it does what I bought it to do,
run around on little fuel and go off road.
Since I do not ride on the street any more, I'm lowering the gears to get more power in the low end (it's a bit - doggy in low rpms) and I've no need to go any where's near the claimed 95 mph top end, 65 mph will be plenty in the dirt. The aggressive trail tread also needs to be shed for a "knobby" with bite. All in all the $1700 I paid
was not a bad deal.

The Honda NX650 Dominator a good all rounder for any job. Low seat for this type of bike, I am only 5' 2" (female) and managed OK with the standard wheels although I did supermoto it so I could get that extra inch on the floor.
