“I have owned my 2004 Honda crf230 for a few months now...”

I have owned my 2004 Honda crf230 for a few months now and so far it has been excellent. It has good bottom-mid range power and pulls pretty hard for a trail bike. I take mine over smaller jumps but the suspension is pretty soft so it cant handle jumps that are pretty big. I would recommend getting a stiffer spring and different forks if you wanted to take the bike to a track or race it. There are many upgrades you can get for the bike as well. I would recommend this dirtbike to anyone who is a novist rider and is growing out of a crf100/150 and wants a little bit more power in their next bike.

I bought a Honda CRF 230 and I have had nothing but pure good luck and lots of fun. I think if you buy one you would think so to if you want a good trail bike. It is not fast like a 2 stroke, and has no kick start, but very reliable. I buy nothing but Honda.

I see and know too many guys that buy dirt bikes with way more power than they can handle, or they cant use on the type of tracks that they are riding on. THEY GET HURT REAL BAD! and then sell their egotisticaly purchased RACE bike and never ride again. so sad! The crf 230 is a trail bike, and a nice one at that. If you want more power and better handling there are all types of aftermarket parts avaliable for it. my opinon is buy one, ride on, have fun until you cant through your old leg over the seat.If you want to race your buddies on motocross tracks, hit big doubles, table tops and trail ride also, get a kdx 220. Be prepaired to spend alot more on that bike and maintenance. At 5.7 and 260 pounds the crf fits me nicely.

I have just returned from the Enduro Africa ride for life across the wild coast of South Africa taking in 2000 kms of extreme off road riding terrain. The bike supplied was the CRF 230.
Having not done much off road stuff before this was always going to be a challenge for me. However it did not appear to be much of a challenge for the 100+ Hondas which were used for all the riders taking part. Everyone on the trip had the same comments - indestructible with the usual reliability of the Honda.
As a final celebration of having done the 2000km ride, one of the bikes was ridden into the swimming pool of the hotel. The challenge was to see how long it would take to get it restarted having been submerged for 10 minutes!
It took less than 9 minutes!

The Honda CRF is a great dual purpose bike, easy to ride, light, can be used as a commuter or reasonable serious off road. Honda made the engine in the 70,s its very strong and rarely breaks before it wears out, and a tank of fuel will last all day...

The Honda CRF 230 is a good trail bike, and if you spend the money it can be a great race bike. Good power and not to big so its good for trail riding. its ok a jumping but if you want to jump over six feet you will need to change your front shocks. This would be a good bike for a younger person or someone that loves to trail ride.

My 2005 Honda CRF 230 has a very noticeable knock when idleing. It is not valve noise rather a deep thud inside the motor. I cannot tell if it is lower or upper area noise. However, the noise stops (or appears to) once I take off. If anyone has had this problem, or, may have an idea what it is please add a comment. I am very concerned I may be damaging my motor.

A really fun bike to ride for a returning novice to bikes. Practical 4 stroke engine, great mileage, easy to use and maintain. Perfect for recreational trial bike riding. Comfortable enough to ride all day. Suspension is good but not designed for big jumps.

I have a Honda xr200r 1982, and I wanted a replacement for this and the Honda CRF 230f 225 fitted the bill exactly, electric start and a disc brake, so it goes and stops, if you are 5'8" or less this bike is ideal for a first bike for long distance trials or trail riding.
I have even done a proper trial on it and did quite well against monos, and twin shocks, if i could put that engine in my twin shock bike I would do much better than I do now, very torquey engine.
Ideal in the woods, but if you want a fast open going bike then don't buy it, get a Honda CRF250f.

The Honda CRF 230f is an all round top bike. Don't go with the sheep and buy orange, be yourself, ride this and they wont need to stop for you all day. It isn't a CRF250, but, it hasn't got the price tag either, big fun for cheap bucks!!
