Went to the pub recently over the Xmas period and decided to have a roast dinner. Food was very nice and drinks weren't bad either. However, the landlord, some large foolish looking man, makes the whole place ten times worse. Dressed very scruffy and had piles of rubbish scattered about his desk which was situated on one of the actual eating tables, he also spoke very rudely to some customers whilst making a phone call in the middle of the bar! What was even worse was the fact that on the other side of the bar this oath then fell asleep on a DECK CHAIR whilst watching football. Would have been tempted to come back if it were not for this man, obviously doesn't know how to run a pub or treat his customers. Will not be coming back.

This pub is just up the road from me . We have been going there for four years about five times a year for meals .The pub is OK.But although I know the name of the bloke who seems to be the manager after four years he doesn't know my name . he never greets you with a cheerful welcome, he never asks how the meal was and did you enjoy your meal ? he never bids you farewell and do come again . Last week he managed to complete my bill payment at the bar without saying a single word . I will continue to use the pub as its convenient in spite of the manager who has the personality of a Flat tyre !

The rudness of the owner was something else , never a please or a thank you. The waitress was equally rude , the food overpriced , and bland.

Good food and plenty of it for the money. Bar staff always friendly, Manager very quiet person but polite enough. Been going there for nearly 20 years.

we go on holiday to brundall every year (My mum and dad, me and my 4 year old daughter) and we quite frequently eat at the yare. the landlords are very friendly, and always make us feel most welcome. especially as we always sit in the bar , not the family room, which can annoy some pubs. Also the landlords are always working, which is pleasant to see. The food is good value for money, and they have a daily special (most meals are £8.99) they also do the staple children's meal (chicken nuggets/sausages beans and chips) which my daughter loves. I highly reccomend the chicken and bacon BBQ melt, and the chilli. The waiting/bar staff are also very friendly.

I have read the latest reviews on The Yare Pub. These people obviously have a grievance against the pub or are one of the new breed of visitor who just come away to complain. I & my family have used the Yare Pub for over 20 years & consider it to be an excellent local facility, serving good basic pub food with friendly, helpful staff. The problem with reviews are that the vast majority of satisfied customers do not write reviews, only those few who wish to complain write them. As an owner of holiday accommodation, these people who complain, especially those who book through agencies, are people who complain about everything in the hope that they will obtain refunds. I say to the staff & management of the Yare Pub, keep up the good work.

On entering the pub for an afternoon meal we were greeted by The Manager serving at the bar. He was most unwelcoming to the point of being rude!! The staff around him were not much better and were dressed in scruffy clothes! The glasses were dirty, the tables were dirty, the menu was basic but expected in a pub I suppose! The cutlery didn't match and was filthy!! When we finally got our meal the chips ordered with our Lasagne were obviously re-fried I'd say at least five times to point that were just crusty shells with no potato in! The presentation was like it was just slapped on the plate and whilst attempting to eat some of this meal I had a young lady beside me changing her child's nappy!!! Yummy!!! All i can say is i won't be revisiting this place and if you have any standards you won't either!! If u want a cheap meal with dirty surroundings this is your place!! We did complain and it was just shrugged off as though it was the norm! STAY CLEAR of this one believe it or not we aren't fussy but do like cleanliness along friendliness when out paying for food!

This could be such a great pub, in a fantastic position. However there is a slim middle aged balding sullen faced manager running it (if you frequent it you'll know who i mean!) with the personality of a flea. It would be almost acceptable if he were just Mr Grumpy and boring, but he looks at everyone with complete contempt and disdain, he doesn't hide the fact that that he completely despises his customers!! It's amazing that in this the worst economic climate in living memory, and good pubs with friendly staff closing every day, this moron continues to act the way he does, and clearly gets away with it.

The Yare situated about 6 miles out of Norwich in a delightful village called Brundall. I go to the Yare often and I find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Overall that atmosphere is very good and will suit everyone. Their is a section just for adults so that they can have peace from family groups and their is an area for eating. The food on the whole is good and the service is helpful and nice. The meals are typical of what you will find in many british restaurants and it is in a lovely location near Brundall Railway station. It is a lovely place to have something to eat and drink and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area or who is passing through Brundall.

I used to work there, they had mice everywhere out the back kitchen door and they could easily run into the kitchen. The staff were all over worked and under appreciated so had no reason to present a good image. The decor hasn't changed in years and is in real need of an update and clean. The managers have no people skills. If it wasn't for the cheap mediocre food and convenience of position it probably wouldn't be there.

A very very old fashioned basic pub with very old fashioned basic food and very old fashioned basic service. Being situated quite close to the river and on its flood plain this pub reguarly gets water logged. Tm guessing that if the soups and sauces arn't out of a packet they probably get them by wringing out the carpet!
Sunday lunch is cheap, cheap, cheap but thats a good thing judging by the slivers of what proccesed meat presented on the non matching crockery with all the finesse of a toddler playing in the sand pit!
need I go on!

Yesterday we had cause to visit Brundall, a village located on the River Yare, six miles out of Norwich in the direction of Great Yarmouth. It was not long after midday when we concluded our matters in hand, so we decided to call in at a pub called The Yare for a spot of luncheon. Situated between a large boatyard for the filthy rich and one of Brundall's two stations it looked an ideal spot for a middle of the day meal. How wrong we were!
We should have been put off by the frosty reception we received from the charmless nurk of a bar-steward. A ratty man who gave the impression that everything was too much trouble. But we ploughed on. There was a choice of three cask ales: Woodfordes Wherry, Greene King Abbot and Brains SA. I chose the Brains. The lady, a tea fanatic, ordered a cup of tea. For lunch we both ordered what we thought was a safe option, namely fish and chips.
The Yare has an idiosyncratic decor of yokel and boating artefacts. Interestingly the ceiling is covered with woven willow fencing. It probably seemed like a good idea at the time. The furniture was 1970s/1980s wood and velour. Nice! Sadly the addition plastic table cloths didn't exactly enhance the dining experience. Greasy spoon chic is just so last year!
The ale was acceptable, but that is all I can say about it. The fish and chips were just acceptable but bland in the extreme. The whole experience was a lesson in how to run a pub if you can't really be bothered. This pub is absolutely f*****g useless and I urge you, if you are ever in the area, to make a point of avoiding it.

the bar staff at The Yare were pleasant, but some were very off handed with the attitude can you hurry up and make your mind up. i did not like that. food was good , but ran out of items early in evening. very nice place, liked the theme.

Food was ok , pretty much the same as most pb food. The bar staff were nice. Liked the theme of The Yare pub, very old looked nice. The manager seemed to give you the impression that we were doing him a favour with the attitude of can you hurry up and make your mind up my regulars are waiting. There seemed to be a 2 tear price system one for locals and one for visitors.

Called in for a snack around 1.30pm, we were to lt was too late for food and that they closed at 2pm. Have been in there on 3 occosions now (2 due to having to meet people there) and I have to say I find the atmosphere very cold unless you are a local. many of my colleagues have found the same. In my opinion thias is a pub that does not favour tourists.

Outside the eastern part of Norwich is a village called Brundall. Situated next to the train station in Brundall, is the Yare pub, which is a large, spacious building and very old, which gives the place character. When you walk inside the place, it looks quite dark but cosy. There are lots of old pictures on the walls, and old beams in the ceiling. The Yare is also situated next to the river Yare, where lots of boats are moored up. It looks very picturesque from inside the pub. Nearly every Sunday, my husband and I go to the Yare for our Sunday roast. You can either order just the roast on its own, or order the 3 course meal for an extra 3 quid, which consists of soup or fruit juice for a starter, the roast as the main, and for dessert there is a choice of peach melba or cheese and biscuits, followed by a coffee and a mint.
We can both honestly say that the Yare pub in Brundall does one of the best roast dinners ever, and we would recommend the place to anyone. We've never had a complaint. The Yare also does other delicious types of food; whether it's salads, ploughman's, Italian, scampi or Kievs with chips, and burgers, which are also fantastic; plus a wonderful ice cream sundae menu. We love the cafe latte sundae, which consists of 2 scoops of continental coffee ice cream and a scoop of vanilla, topped with some whipped cream and a chocolate. There is also a coffee menu with a choice of liqueurs added. The staff are friendly, and the service is very good.
It is a family orientated pub with a games room to keep the children occupied. Plus a separate lounge area for people who want to watch Sky sports, and wooden tables and benches for anyone wishing to eat or drink outside.

I had also forgotten to mention that the Yare does some lovely vegetarian food too.

I found this review not helpful because... it' not a review it's an advert by the owner (at least that's my guess!).
