Had been looking forward to this holiday for a long time.
While we enjoyed the sites and the temples the rest of it was a massive let down. First of all our boat was "upgraded" the day before we travelled. I dread to think what the 3* boat was like...this boat is nowhere near 4*. Rooms are okay - comfy, but everything is very dated. The crew were nice enough, but stared at the women A LOT, which by the end of the week made you feel very uncomfortable.
No entertainment to speak of, and considering all the excursions aren't included (BEWARE: Thomas Cook not very good at explaining this! We had no idea until we got on the boat!) there is nothing to do while you are sailing. Got very boring.
Excursion are EXPENSIVE.
We paid £72 each to go to Abu Simbel. Now this one I'd been dreaming of seeing for a long, long time. Unfortunately when I arrived I wasn't feeling so great (up since 3am, 3 hours coach journey with no break) and passed out. I was offered no medical assistance at all. The tour guide left us and so did the coach. It was a very distressing incident.
Street traders are everywhere (and I mean everywhere) and while you are told how to deal with them it gets very boring, very quickly. They can also be quite rude if you ignore them like you are advised to.
Glad we did it, wouldn't go back.
