i have used my builder.com for a couple of years.
The first few workers i found and hired from that site were decent, and good value. In the last year it has been common for me to post a job and get no response in over a fortnight. I also found it was a rare thing to get the site to respond to questions such as 'what category job should i post this under?'. It felt as if there was no customer support, but i continued to use them as i had not yet had a bad experience with a builder from the site.
However, in the last few months i had a problem with a tradesman who did not do the job as agreed, and when problems arose he ignored my emails and calls. I tried to ask the site how to deal with this and was totally ignored. I tried to ask if i could amend my builders review to warn other customers, and was totally ignored again. So i am left without any guidance or support, and i now realise that customers reviews are no guide to job satisfaction, as you cannot amend those reviews if the job is found to be substandard after completion. It feels as if i am being misleading when i see a positive review of mine for a job that began to unravel within a week of completion. I wonder how many other customers felt the same, and stopped using the site, as the tradesman using the site seem less and less every time i used it.
all in all, i would not recommend this site and will not be using it again. I do not expect the site to deal with my builder dispute, but they could have answered me, given me guidance, and allowed me to alert other customers, which they have failed to do.
